Our Honey Wheat Ale is brewed with a blend of barley and wheat malts, with just a hint of Nova Scotia honey. The honey used is high quality fruit blossom and wildflower honey made in the Annapolis Valley. This honey is gently blended into the kettle late in the boiling process.

Propeller Honey Wheat is fermented at a slightly lower temperature than our other Ales. This provides a cleaner, smoother beer and also ensures the delicate flavours provided by the addition of Honey are uninhibited.

Light and refreshing, this is a year round favourite!

Bottle from the brewery.
Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a decent sized bubbly white head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of sweet honey with a light spice with almost a lime mint kind of thing happening? The flavor is pretty good actually, there's an awesome raw grainy cereal type flavor in there that I really dig. Sweet sugary honey like maltiness with some spicy wheat and yeast flavors to counter. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Nice brew, I'm glad I picked this up because I almost passed based on style. I hope the rest of those propeller beers I brought back surprise me as well.

Poured from a 341ml bottle, from a 6-pack bought at the New Minas NSLC (better selection than Windsor and Hantsport). $10.60 + deposit.

A: clear gold, with minimal head and visible carbonation.
S: yeast, wheat, a touch of honey.
T: very light, very drinkable, a little bit of bitterness on the finish but not much.
F: very smooth, a bit watery.

I really want to like Propeller, in a sort of 'hometown proud' sense -- I used to live on the same street as the brewery, and I used to pass it daily on my way to work. Unfortunately, this beer is nothing to get excited about. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I'd prefer something with stronger flavours and more complexity.

At the liquor store, I had a hard time choosing between this and Garrison's Raspberry Wheat Ale. I suspect I made the wrong choice.

341ml into bottom-dimpled pint glass.

A - pours golden yellow, surpising half finger head.
S - honey, wheat (guess that's a little redundant), little bit of hops in there.
T - pretty light, some sweetness at first, subtle honey pervades, bit of bitterness.
M - smooth, carbonated, goes down like a lager.
O - a typical drink on your deck, summer beer. I drank this a little old, and Propeller doesn't use preservatives, so I'd be willing to edit this if it's that much better fresh.

Appearance- Pours a cloudy honey yellow with a minimal head.

Smell- Wheat, barley, grains, slight honey, lemon peel

Taste- A pleasant biscuity flavour alongside the wheat and barley. The honey provides the right amount of sweetness for this style and the lemon comes in nicely.

Mouthfeel- Medium with light carbonation. Smooth finish.

Overall- A pleasantly enjoyable honey wheat by Propeller. The wheat, barley, and honey flavours are nicely balanced that make this brew a special treat on a hot summer day.

Bottle from mmurphy525, 341ml into a tulip.

Poured a pale golden yellow, with a nice thick white head. Good retention and some thick webbed lace. Nose holds some honey, orange and lemon citrus, some slight cheesy notes with light wheat character, Taste has mild honey, some wheat and grainy notes (almost adjunct-like). Bitterness in the finish, with some balancing honey-like (or just honey?) sweetness. Light body and moderately quaffable. Average flavour, and something I'd only recommend to those new to the craft world.

A - fully hazy straw golden, short white head dissipated fairly quickly leaving a thin ring
S - slightly herbal aroma with raw honey, musty with some buttered bread
T - a mix of unsweetened honey and leafy hops dominate, with buttery bread and whole grains coming through
M - lightly body, a little thin to start, but the breadiness does build along with a slightly puckering metallic
O - more of a natural raw honey flavour than most sweeter honey brews, although flavours are generally subdued it is still worth a few tries, works well in summer

A - Pours a pale hazy straw colour, finger of head with some retention and a rim of lacing.

S - Surprisingly I'm detecting some musty hops, reminiscent of an ESB, the wheat does come through, though I struggle to detect the honey.

T - Again, earthy, musty hops off the top, the honey is detectable on the tongue and is a nice complement to the wheat grass and caramel malts. Still a little one dimensional though.

M - Thin and watery, and a bit of a disappointment in this category.

O - Overall, a tasty offering and a yummy summer drink. Definitely wouldn't turn one down, though the flavours could be a bit more bold.

341ml bottle. The label commands one to 'Drink Fresh'. Don't know how feasible that is, given the breadth of Canadiana needed to cross just to get it here, to the wild, wild West.

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with one skinny finger of fizzy, and weakly foamy dirty white head, which settles rather quickly, leaving a decent cross-section of layered streaky lace around the glass.

It smells of sweet, honeyed and bready malt, brewer's yeast, gritty wheat, and some faintly musky, floral hops. The taste is semi-sweet barley and somewhat zingy and buttered bread wheat malt, musty field honey, some well-aged lemon fruitiness, and tame floral/grassy hops.

The carbonation is quite understated, barely a hint of activity for the most part, the body medium-light in weight, and yet actually quite smooth, full stop. It finishes more than a bit off-dry, the open air field honey and mixed malt bill essence duly lingering.

An easy drinker, yet equally challenging by its surprisingly complex flavour. Decent enough for a summer patio quaffer, I would imagine, but I doubt I'll be seeing that scenario around here, given the short gestation period, and steep 'import' level (20 bucks a sixer) pricing.

341ml bottle poured into pint glass oct5 2010

A clear pale yellow with a big head that has decent retention but leaves no lace

S sweet malt and lots of floral honey

T yet even more honey with a little spice and not quite as floral

M thin and a little flat rather disappointing in this area

D not a bad beer but nothing special either I could take it or leave it

no reason not to try this one but I wouldn't go looking for it

Been wanting to try Propeller for quite a while now. Father-in-law nice enough to bring one down from NS.

Now enjoying one while watching Ghana-Germany, Australia-Serbia.

A- Very clean looking beer. Clear paleish gold and extremely white fluffy head. Lots of bubbles rising. Nice amount of netted lacing.

S- A pleasant smell. A bit like a honey cake or a honey bun but without the frosting. A bit of grapefruit hop and caramel malt. Alcohol comes up if you sniff hard enough.

T- Actually tastes a bit like a pastry. Also reminds me of warm milk. Still the pale ale like hop bite and bitterness keeps it all quite crisp and tangy. All in all some very interesting and tasty contrast. Still tastes a little bit watery though and a bit of a chemical bitterness which ruins it a bit.

M- Soft, very close to full mouthfeel. Low to medium carbonation works right. Expected this to be drier, it is but the sweetness counters. Mouthfeel also reminds me of warm skim milk.

D- Very good. Refreshing. Light but still pretty satisfying.

Good beer. Nothing crazy but a good experience. Worth trying. This good first experience definitely makes me want to try more from Propeller.

A: Pours a clear golden body with two fingers of white bubbly head. Decent retention and good lacing.

S: Notes of honey and wheat. Quite straight forward here.

T: Same as the the aroma, notes of honey with wheat. Tastes like coors with notes of honey. Not pleasing.

M: Light bodied with medium carbonation. Water like texture and leaves a honey aftertaste

D: It's easy to drink, but I wouldn't have it again. Not a fan of the beer.

A- This pours a clear golden honey color, with about a half inch of foam that lingers for a short time, settling to a ring around the glass. Carbonation appears to be moderate and the bubbles look to be on the smaller side. Not really any lacing to talk about and looks slightly watery.

S- Nice aromas! I immediately smelled the sweet and slightly floral wildflower honey used in the brew. There is also a hint of citrus from the wheat malt. This has a nicely balanced aroma!

T- Very similar to the aroma, but surprisingly, this is a very clean tasting beer! The sweet honey comes through very nicely, while there is an established grainy/malty flavor. What I really like about this is the finish, which has a decent hop bitterness, complimenting the sweet liquid, leaving my palate wanting more!

M- Kind of what I was expecting as far as the lighter body goes, but I don't think this was meant to be a thick beer. The carbonation is relatively low, and the beer has a nice smoothness, which is really letting the flavors come through!

D- This is a great everyday beer in my opinion! It's thirst quenching enough for a hot sunny day on the patio, but rich and flavorful enough to enjoy indoors on any occasion. Well balanced overall....I recommend this and I will buy again...it's too bad that here in Alberta it's quite expensive...$20 for a 6-pack!

A really really hot summer day, what is a guy to do? Maybe a growler of honey wheat will help dissipate the heat....

Poured a nice yellow color with plenty of head. Head eventually evaporated except for a thin cap covering the top of the beer, as well as some minor lacing on the glass.

Smell is a nice fresh wheat flavor with a sweetness behind it.l

Taste starts out with a nice clean wheat flavor and ends with a nice sweet taste of honey on the tip of the tongue. Very light bodied with almost no carbonation. A slightly bitter aftertaste at the end though, that doesn't quite fit in with the rest of it.

Overall very good. Definitely something to nurse while sitting on the patio, which is what I think I am going to do now.
