This pub is a little off Ponce de Leon opposite Green's, and it can be a bit hard to find but is worth checking out. Parking lot has a decent number of spaces, and they are on at least one frequently running bus line. Interior is dark and cozy, and the music is subtle. They have a couple outdoor seating areas, a patio with a large table and a few smaller ones, and a back area with more intimate seating. Inside they have small tables, a few booths and an average size bar. The servers are helpful and knowledgeable, if not the fastest in town. Food is very good and worth the price. Their selection of beers is pretty good, focusing on micros and imports - I don't recall seeing any big brews on their drink menu. Definitely worth a visit!

Went here for a friend's birthday recently.
Atmosphere is really nice. It's cozier than it looks from the outside, with a bar on the right along with a few booths and more booths to the left. A good deal of the building is taken up by the kitchen. It's small but doesn't have a constricted feel to it. There are also quite a few tables outside however I was a bit disappointed when the large heaters were turned off.
Quality is good. Beers are served in appropriate glassware with a good amount of head and at the proper temperature.
Service isn't the best. This is only my second time here however both times they seem woefully understaffed. It's not that the bartender is rude, it's just that he/she can't possibly attend to everyone in a timely fashion. Other than the waiting factor they seem fairly knowledgeable and friendly.
Selection is good. It doesn't change a whole lot but it's solid. Just about every major style is represented so it shouldn't be hard to find something you like.
Food is alright. I've had the wings and mashed potatos and while the latter was solid I was not overly impressed with the former. The other options do look appetizing though and I'm sure I'll have another meal there at some point.
Value is good. Just about par for the course.
Overall I really like the feel of this place but the slow service is a deterrent to me frequenting that place all that much. Worth a stop if you can't make it elsewhere but the Porter is less than two miles away.

Finally stopped by, on a Tuesday night. It was actually a bit crowded, but not too bad.
It's a pretty inviting space inside. Wood everywhere, and the ceiling is lined with books. Salt rock lamps hang above the tables, giving a nice orange/pink glow. Small and cozy. Clean bathrooms.
Service was very slow and disinterested. Our server was busy drinking a blue cocktail and watching CaddyShack on the TV. When we tried to order at the bar, the bartender wouldn't serve us since we were sitting at a table, and thus had to be served by our waitress. It took a long time to get our bill when we were ready to leave.
Selection has promising spots, but is lacking over all. The decent sized draught list is weighted down by European macros, but has a couple of good offerings. The somewhat large bottle list is populated mostly with international lagers, but again has a few nice choices.
I'll try this place out again, hoping for better service.

This place is awesome. Cozy pub atmosphere inside with a covered patio out front and an even cooler patio in the back. I've been just a few times, but each time I am recognized by the extraordinary bar and wait staff. Service is beyond reproach. The added bonus, besides the beer selection is the food. This is not typical bar food of burgers and fries. The menu is small, but quite unique. They do offer a burger if you desire one, but there are other, more creative options. Then of course the beer. Not a massive Taco Mac type selection, but they do have cask offerings from time to time and a stellar Belgian draft choice. The bottle selection is notable too. This is more of a restaurant in a pub setting. I give this 5 out of 5 rings on the Planet Scott Rings Around Uranus scale.

Despite the ridiculously pretentious crowd that overflows from the nearby dance club (MJQ), this place has a small but solid beer selection and a decent selection of mixed drinks so you can drag your non-beer-loving buddies along. Luckily the prices are good and when it's not too crowded, it's a pretty relaxed place. That sense of relaxation sometimes flows into the bartenders, one of whom let my lambic sit there for a few minutes before bothering to hand it to me. The selection doesn't change as often as I wish it would, but they definitely don't carry any bad beers, so you can be comforted in knowing that you will get something good from Bookhouse. If you would like to drink something delicious before going to MJQ and getting stuck with PBR, this is the place to go.

Stopped in over the holidays and was really impressed. The overall feel of the pub is very comfortable and has that neighborhood atmosphere, even though it hasn't been opened for that long. The beer selection was stellar. McChouffe, Allagash, Guden Draak, Left Hands, and more on draft. The person who runs the beer program obviously knows his stuff. The draft selection is probably around 20. The website lists what they carry. The night we were there, a couple at the bar was sampling a bourbon aged beer that went for about $15 or so. Forgot the name. They weren't the only ones, another couple was shelling out the same for a taste. Beer prices otherwise, were fair considering the quality. The girl pouring the beers behind the counter seemed to know enough about all of the beers to be helpful and was very nice about offering a sample if you wanted it. With more and more beer bars opening around Atlanta, one can almost always find a decent beer, but do yourself a favor and drink the good stuff. We tried The Porter Beer Pub the same day over in Little 5 Points and will post thoughts on it later. Very good as well.
