On nitro-tap at Old Forge on 3/14/09.
A - Poured a dark brown body with a deep reddish tint around the edges and one finger of creamy tan cap that retained quite exceptionally and deposited lots of thick lace around the glass.
S - Lots of dark roast, chocolate and coffee notes with faint traces of black licorice in the back. Some sweet lactic notes also emerged. Hops are pretty well hidden in the nose.
T - Opens with a nice roasty, malty character with subtle hints of coffee and chocolate. However, the chocolate flavor really opened up as the liquid warmed. Some subtle earthy hops emerged in the finish to give this stout an extremely well-rounded flavor profile.
M - Solid medium body that was very smooth, creamy and not as thin as some other nitro stouts I've had in the past. Bit of earthy bitterness and a faint dryness in the finish with sweet notes on the tongue.
D - Excellent straight-up stout that was a pleasure to drink. Slack Tub featured a nice hop presence, and the nitro pour really enhanced its overall flavor and feel. Clearly the best offering from Old Forge thus far. Great job!

I had this on draught (nitro) at the brew pub. Pint pour. It pours a deep mahogany with cola hues when held to the light, and two full fingers of dense, creamy tan head and lacing. It's a very attractive pour. The nose features roasted malt, black coffee, dark chocolate, and a whiff of oatmeal. It tastes as expected: oatmeal, burnt coffee grounds, baker's chocolate, nuts, and earthy char. It's actually more bitter than I anticipated. It has a creamy, pillowy mouth feel. Because it was served on nitro so there was very little carbonation. The 5.2% ABV is barely noticeable. Overall, it's an easy drinking, nicely-crafted, solid Oatmeal Stout.

Pours deep dark mahogany bordering black with a tan head.
Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, and coffee.
Taste was roasted malt with caramel notes, bitter chocolate and coffee, followed by hints of plumb. A very nice nitro offering.
