A very large store dedicated primarily to wine, with about 2 aisles of beer. Most beers are on room temperature shelves, a select few (macros?) are in the coolers. Very nice selection of beers, a little less variety than at the Greens locations but good nonetheless. I stopped here only because it was near a company I visited (it's a bit far from downtown). The prices are reasonable but a little higher than either Greens location that I visited. The big plus here is the wide assortment of singles, including each craft beer available at the location. This simplifies for me as I generally like to buy just one bottle of a regional beer before commiting to a 6-pack to take home.

Stopped by this place after a trip to Taco Mac in the area. Very nice looking building - stucco and brick and is clearly new construction. Well-lit parking lot. Walking in, there is (obviously) a sea of wine with a couple of beer displays. This place is pretty impressive. If I were a bigger wine snob, this place would be my Graceland. Beer is to the right hand side of the store divided into 3 aisles. It's not the most spectacular selection in the metro area but it's pretty good. Everything is well organized and displayed well. Decent help. I was looking for something in particular that they didn't have, but they were quick to look it up and let me know that they were out. Overall, a good place to scope out if you're in the area.

Although the main focus of this liquor superstore is wine, as its name suggests, it has a formidable beer selection. Not only are there plenty of local and craft brews, there is an excellent array of imports, arranged by country. They have two isles in the store dedicated to beer - and though I didn't see everything, I saw only "good" beer, as in no macrobrews, just craft brews and imports. Furthermore, they have plenty of beers in single bottles so you don't have to buy a whole six-pack and then get stuck if you don't like the beer. I could spend hours in this place! Definitely a must-visit for all beer lovers within an hours' driving distance.

I was happy to be among the first customers when this store opened about ten minutes from where I lived at the time, and I've been back several times since. The main thing that sets this store apart from others in Atlanta is its location -- there is nothing else with NEARLY this good a beer selection in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area. Thus, Total Wine fills a previously empty niche.
As has previously been noted in other reviews, the place is located almost directly across the street from the Perimeter location of Taco Mac, which means that the Perimeter area just fell into a relative wealth of beer options. Total Wine's beer selection is very good, but not great. You won't find any rare beers here, but you will find a nice selection of imported bombers and 12-ouncers, along with all kinds of domestic singles and six-packs. Yes, the usual selection of macros is readily available, but their variety of microbrews/imports is very good, too.
You can "mix and match" your own six-pack, but each beer is still rung up individually at its shelf price. Cases and kegs are available for a lot of the beers they sell, and they've also got a decently stocked cooler full of everything from your standard "party beer" to a sampling of German and UK staples.
This is, however, a wine store first and foremost. I'm told their wine selection is quite good (with a nice selection of great vintages in a locked "cellar"), and most of their wines are a good value. They also sport a walk-in humidor stocked with decent-to-very good cigars.
On the whole, this store is a welcome addition to the area, even if its beer selection pales in comparison to that of Green's. For me, though, this is far more convenient, which means I'll be making the drive down to Green's (and paying the toll to get there) a little less frequently.

Located near a busy shopping area (I visited close to Christmas, even worse) close to the Perimeter Mall. The mall traffic seems to clog a lot of the turns, but it doesn't help that there are many strips and clusters of stores in the area. Located near a Taco Mac, so this is a good location if you want to grab a beer after grabbing some beers.
The store is pretty big, filled with way more wine than beer obviously. The beer section is toward the right side of the store from the entrance with a few aisles. One half aisle has some singles on the shelves, mostly 12oz bottles from broken six packs. One aisle has coolers, and the rest are filled with six packs or cases.
The single selection is pretty expansive. One advantage this place has over Green's is that there are singles in the 12oz side (rather than just 22oz or 750ml), as well as the option to make mixed six packs. This option works great for me since I just want to grab as much variety as I can to take back to D.C. They do not have as many 750ml or 22oz bottles as Green's (either location) or Tower's (either location), at least as far as I could tell.
Never asked anyone for help. There were a couple people stacking shelves, and taking down cases, but I have no idea how much they, or anyone else, knows about beer. I'm sure they could talk your ear off about wine though.
There is also an area that has glasses and other nick-nack items for beer and wine.
The price seemed reasonable to me. I got three six packs and the price didn't seem too outrageous for what I bought. I can't remember the exact amount.
For Atlanta this is a pretty good place to get beer, especially for the 12oz bottle singles selection. Green's or Tower may have more.
