Not a big fan of MKE Brewing Co., but I was able to purchase this a single bottle so I figured I'd give it a try.
Roast on the nose, with a touch of sweetness.
On the palate, heavy roast char dominates. After sitting for awhile, a touch of dark fruit emerges.
The mouthfeel of this beer is off, it is light and almost fizzy. Makes me think I'm drinking a beer flavored soda.
Overall, not bad, but not good either. Much too thin, no barrel presence other than char, just not something I'd seek out again. The experience of truly enjoying a beer from MKE Brewing continues to elude me.

Appearance - The beer was black in appearance with a light tan head crowning the pour.
Smell - The nose was pretty straightforward malts with a light hint of bitterness.
Taste - Somethings not right here. The beer taste like butterscotch aged and postage stamp glue. The beer did not taste like a Baltic Porter, nor was there a hint of bourbon.
Mouthfeel - Per the style, the beer had moderate carbonation with an almost like milky level of viscosity.
Overall - I had trouble finishing this one.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Thin lacing but it stays around, very dark. Smells of brown sugar, roasted malt, booze, vanilla, ripe plums, & wood. Clean palate, roasted flavors from the malt mesh well with the bourbon barrel character. Kiss of warmth from the 7.0% abv, hint of spice and plum pudding fruitiness in the middle. A tasty beer for sure, worth seeking out.

L: Brilliant deep coffee brown under a thin cream to tan foam collar that leaves light lace.
S: Coffee, bourbon, vanilla chocolate malt aromas.
T: The taste follows the aromas with a nice balance between the different components. No sharp or harsh flavors.
F: very creamy, fine soft carbonation and just above medium body.
O: A smooth, easy to drink Baltic porter.

Pours to a deep, deep red-brown, almost black. Head is thin, off-white and leaves almost no lacing. The aroma is malty, with maybe a little corn-based sweetener as well. Definitely roasted malt flavor with bourbon barrel present too. Not what I'm used to in a bourbon barrel-aged brew. It's weaker than most barrel aged beers-I'm surprised to see it listed at 7% ABV. The body is thin, but with minimal carbonation it is not bad. I would call this a good session bourbon barrel aged porter (which may sound ridiculous to some, but try it.) For the price, potency and flavor...this was pretty good.
