Re-branded as "Love Rock" in bottles.

Deep saturated orange gold, lasting head of creamy foam, spotty deckled lacing in the glass. Bright clarity and good head retention.

Toasted specialty grain aroma, lightly sweet and husky with a touch of apple there also from the yeast.

Slightly slick and sweet feel, robust toasted grain aroma, light residual sweetness. Medium to light bodied, lower carb levels reinforce the slick feel. Earthy, floral hop note.

Overall this is good for a no frills Vienna Lager, though nothing too groundbreaking. An acceptable poolside beverage.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Gotta love Paul Simon gettin' stuck in your head. Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by over a finger of cream-white foam. The nose comprises flowers, very light biscuit, and even lighter (somehow) orange rind. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a mild sense of honey-like sweetness that pervades all aspects of life. The body is a light medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, an okay little amber lager, something I could see drinking fairly easily, but not something I would actually aim to drink all that often.

Not impressed. Bought this beer soon after moving to Wisconsin and trying all the wonderful craft brews available. Poured well enough into tall glass, took a sip... and then nothing. Tepid first couple of sips, followed by that taste of phenol that a lot of the commercial cheap lagers have over here. Very surprised to taste such a limp lager. Poured rest down sink. This beer tasted watered down, and much like a run of the mill, cheap commercial lager. For this beer, read: Miller, poured into a bottle with a fancy label to make it look appealing.

A-Pours a clear amber color with a decent amount of fluffy white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass.
S-Slightly sour/cider aroma.
T-Flavors of malt and noble hops. Slightly tart.
M-Good carbonation. Fairly sweet.
Overall, not an extremely exciting beer but very drinkable. A good full-bodied feel with good carbonation and pretty decent flavor just nothing that stands out as being particularly outstanding.

Small, thin head of white foam that subsided very quickly, and it leaves a thin lace. Light orange color with some sediment floating around (I didn't think that there would be any so I didn't let it settle to well). Bottle conditioning is a nice touch.

Sweet, dough aroma with some mineral and floral notes as well.

Taste is citrus and white bread. Bitterness is moderate and the hops lend a thin vegetal flavor to the brew.

Soft and a little sharp in the finish. Bitterness attacks the palate at the end.

Not a bad brew, and I expected a hoppy blond ale, but to my surprise this is a helles. It is a little full flavored a helles for my taste. I would like to try this one cleaner. Is this from the bottle conditioning? The yeast they used?

The Flaming Damsel pours deep golden/light amber color, it almost has a red-pink hue to it, with a thin skim of white head. The aroma is moderately malty--grainy, sweet, some hints of caramel, inviting. The flavor mimics the nose, moderately malty--grainy, a bit toasty/bready with just a bit of spicy hop flavor. The finish is smooth, slightly dry in part to a medium-low hop bitterness. Carbonation is medium and body medium as well. Overall a decent beer, yes there are better of this style, but I would gladly take a second one.

Once again a thanks to woodychandler for yet another canned beer for me to try. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is dominated by malts. Taste also has considerable malts, grains, a touch of hops are present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing and good beer.

Milwaukee Brewing Company, Flaming Damsel, Real Blonde. So, why is she a red-head? I have to admit I grabbed this based on the lovely label imagery. It's meant to be a high-flying acrobat, I think, but she reminds me not a little of Jean Grey, aka Marvel Girl, aka Phoenix from the X-Men. Enough of that, let's crack it open.

Clear and golden, adequate slim white head. Drifts down to nil in no time.

Aroma, grainy, corny…not getting much of what I like. Very lager-y, which I guessed , and is confirmed in the corner of the label. Inoffensive, but uninspiring.

Taste: Mild malt, small hops, low bitterness, but very balanced. Pleasing and quaffable, but not for me. It's a nice enough amber lager (blonde lager, is that a style?) and I wish them well with it.

Delighted to find bottles from Milwaukee Brewing Company this past weekend during a cross-border run to pick up a few bottles in Hudson, WI. Why? Glad you asked. During the past Great Taste of the Midwest, amidst all the barrel-aged, one-off, high-ABV madness, we found the quiet Milwaukee brews to be delicious. Here's to hoping this bottle lives up the that admittedly hazy memory!

Pours a light blond, wheat field kind of hue. Amusing that the bottle says "Real Blond" while the flying sports fire-engine red hair. More wheat in the smell, cut with a slice of lime & gentle malt sweetness.

Flaming Damsel doesn't quite live up to my beer-addled recollection. It has a nice, spicy hop jab up front, with a back-up singer belting out notes of wheat, graints, & a low hum of clean, sweet malt. There's that spare bit of lime again, too.

This is a clean & easy-drinking beer that would pair perfectlly with a book, porch, & cool fall day. If I didn't already have a couple of go-to summer beers, this one might get an extended try-out. Refrehsingly good brew.

16 oz can into a pint glass.

Pours a clear copper, with 2+ rich and soapy fingers of slightly off-white head. This retains with a ½ finger of froth that leaves back a robust cascade of heavy spotty lace. The aroma smells grassy and spicy, with an earthy fruitiness that mingles with sweet bready grains to impart a strong ripe tanginess across the back of the nose.

The taste is similar, with a green hop bitterness that is cut by a backbone of sweet and sugary toasted grains and citric fruit. Those Noble hops finish this strong with a dry and earthy pithy bitterness that lingers long. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with more of a mellow sharpness going on with it. A touch of thick chewiness underneath seems to keep this from achieving a needed crispness in the mouth.

Their website indicates that this is done in the Vienna Lager style and would be inclined to agree, as this possessed that tangy mix of fruit and bread that I find so often in these beers. This was decent but not overly memorable.

Bottle poured into a New Glarus pint glass. Good appearance, poured a cloudy dark caramel ale color. Smelled very good, like a good blonde beer. Excellent taste, some hops, but understated. Great mouthfeel, super drinkable. I will be picking up more of this next time I am in Wisconsin.

16 oz can poured into a nonic (looks like that's what's depicted on the can). No date. "How to drink craft beer from a can: 1. Find glass. 2. Pour beer. 3. Enjoy!", "Put your face in the glass and sniff the goodness. It's the best way to indulge the flavor because half of taste is triggered by smell. Now you're a beer snob." I believe it's more than half, and how does that make one a beer snob? Made me giggle anyway.

A - The vigorous pour produces a dense two-finger white head that rests, shortly, on the brilliantly clear goldenrod-orange colored beer. Nice veils of lace coat the glass. Sexy as the damsel herself.

S - I don't think a spike of lime was intended, but that's the first thing I got from my first whiff. Tinny metal follows up with it's usual compatriot, minerals. Pils malts in the background provide sweetness while a mild noble hop aroma adds some floral qualities.

T - Pale malt and pils malt give it a little body and sweetness but an accompanying graininess as well. Hops have minimal impact on the beer's flavor as they only suggest floral notes. Some metallic and mineral flavors are apparent on the finish. It's relatively bland.

M - Medium-light-bodied and well-carbonated, this beer is somewhat metallic to the finish but not disturbingly so. A touch dry too.

D - Easily drinkable, Flaming Damsel goes down well but doesn't offer anything of importance. Its a mediocre beer but definitely not bad at all. Just an every-day drinkable lager.

Another CANQuest beer in support of New Beer Sunday!

From the CAN: "Who was the smoldering dame? Brewed using s choice selection of barley malts and imported hops, this Vienna Style lager has a taste as smooth as the Damsel's 40-foot swan dives. How to drink craft beer from a CAN: 1. Find glass; 2. Pour beer; 3. Enjoy! Put your face in the glass and sniff the goodness. It's the best way to indulge the flavor because half of taste is triggered by smell. Now you're a beer snob."

Following the Crack & Glug, the pour resulted in two rocky fingers' worth of ecru head that burbled and fell like a diver entertaining the turn of the 20th century crowds. Color was a medium-amber with NE-quality clarity. BUPGOO! Following their advice, I put my face in the glass and was rewarded with a wet nose. Confound this beak of mine! Regrouping, it was certainly malt forward, but underlain with the tang of Saaz hops. Mmm. Mouthfeel was somewhat thin but with a pleasant lager sweetness on the tongue. Finish continued to be malty sweet, which is OK for the style, but less to my liking. Not a bad beer, but not one that I would want a whole bunch of either.
