A-Light golden color. Minimal head. Nearly no lacing. Head is bubbly. A bit hazy.

S-Quite slender in the aroma. A bit grainy with some honey. The nose is pleasantly sweet but desperately needs more 'giddyup'. The core of the aroma is good but is merely a whisper.

T-Like the nose in both the positive and negative. Flavor is sweet and the honey element is its finest characteristic. However, the flavor is too mild. Needs more intensity.

M-Light and easy drinking. Crisp enough with a good carbonation level.

O/D-Quite unremarkable. Had potential but is also lacking in many areas. Nothing about this beer is bad, but there is much more to be desired.

On-tap at Atwood's

A: The beer pours a clear golden color with a finger of white head.

S: Sweet malt all throughout. There actually is a mild honey flavor with some floral hops. Maybe a bit of corn? Quite simple with a mild bread aroma.

T: As with the aroma, this is a very simple beer. Some pale malt flavors as well as a bit of actual honey flavor and sweetness. Some toffee and a few light floral hop notes.

M: Light in body with a medium carbonation.

O: Nothing about this beer really made me want to keep drinking it. I was find just sharing this pint with my friend.

On tap at Smokestack Urban in Worcester, ma. A beer before crazy spicy ghost chicken wings.

A - Poured into a standard pint glass a super light amber with a quarter inch head that fades to leave minimal halo and wisping.

S - Somewhat underhwleming aromas. Smells more like an adjunct with low malts and almost no hops.

T - Average at best. Low floral hops and malt. Kinda meh.

M - Average mouthfeel. Crisp finish lightly sweet and up off the tongue.

O - Overall I was incredibly underwhelmed by this beer. Much better offerings out there on tap.

On tap at the Phoenix, Cambridge
A golden yellow with no head. Only some bubbles popping up from carbonation. Tangy, light malts and sweet honey with subtle citrus. Taste is honey upfront with a backing of light butterscotch malts. The citrus is present more than in the nose especially at the finish. I like the transition from sweet to tangy bitter. Light body and very drinkable at first but towards the end of the glass I had my fill of honey.

This beer poured out as a clear golden color with some bubbles that rise to the top. The head is white and fizzy, doesn't leave much in way or lacing. The beer smell like it's got mostly all malt in it, not too much of a hop aroma but there is a slight sweetness on the nose. The taste is pretty standard, nothing too much really stood out other than malts and slight bitterness in the end. The mouthfeel is light and drinkable. Overall it was a traditional ale nothing too special. It was a good beer to have after a harsh night as the 2010 ACBF.

Lovely clear pour, almost no head. Honey much more apparen in the nose than the taste. Crisp, light tasting, but falls flat after first sip. Note: I had a cold on the day I tried this, so when I make an effort to smell it, it had a tantalizing nose, but the taste is uninspiring. Tempted not to finish.

On tap at Zuma in Faneuil Hall. Our server called this a "raspberry honey," but I believe he misspoke. Especially since a second server suggested it was an IPA.

Pours a clean golden color with minimal head retention.

Aroma is fairly sweet, and I did detect a bit of fruitiness. Honey is present in the nose as well, and the aromas are clean and mild.

Taste is honey-forward, with little hop character to speak of. There is a little sweet, nondescript fruitiness as well. I might actually classify this as an English Bitter, or at least something else, because it really isn't much of a pale ale. It's too sweet and sticky, and there is just no hop flavor at all. Overall, an interesting yet unimpressive flavor.

Mouthfeel is sticky, which complements the honey nicely. Best part of the brew.

The drinkability is decent, mostly because the flavors are inoffensive and go nicely with a meal.

Had this on tap at the Squealing Pig in Providencetown, MA. Served in a pint glass, cool.

A-dark gold body and a thick creamy white head.

S-sweet wildflower honey smell, faint grain and honey.

T-honey front and strong, grainy finish.

M-light.

D-very nice and sessionable. Nice to taste a flavored beer that is balanced between flavoring and beer. I would drink this again.

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, moderate carbonation, light gold in color

Smell: honey, flowers, a bit of earth

Taste: honey, earth, and wheat

Mouthfeel: slightly sweet, moderate to low carbonation, light bodied

Drinkability: This one has a nice mix of honey and wheat. It is a decent beer, but noting that I would rush out for again.

Deep golden straw with a big, fluffy white head that lasted for several minutes before dropping.

Hints of honey and hops with a whiff of green apple and fresh cut grass.

Fresh cut lawn and green apples dominated the palate with hints of honey sweetness. This batch was ripe with acetaldehyde. Honey just right. Not overpowering or cloying.

Medium body with a soft and creamy feel. Smooth and drinkable.

Served a pint of deep gold brew with a one-finger white bubbly head that was soon gone. No lacing in the pint. Good clarity.

Light toasted malt and some floral aromas. Not alot jumping out either.

A fairly soft beer in my opinion. Light toasted malt, some coarse grain, some hop bitterness, all balanced out with some true honeyed sweetness. it goes from sweet and toasty to raw and a little bitter as your palate clears. Flavors are a bit thin, but I'm glad they held back in the honey department, as they are about at the limit.

I wish this had a bit more carbonation. Medium body, and ok in the drinkability department. I can see this as being a good catch-all with pub food, or a decent hot-weather sipper. It's ok.

On tap at the Strange Brew.

A - Straw colored with no discernible head. Constantly carbonating bubbles failed to produce even a thin rim around the glass.

S - Nutty nose with no hop or malt smell to it. There was a mild sweetness that I wouldn't have placed as honey unless I had known.

T - Nuttiness comes through again. The beer is neither heavy on malts or hops. There is again, a mild sweet character to the beer. There is nothing that stands out as impressive, but there's nothing notably lacking either.

M/D - The beer was quite refreshing in the mouthfeel department, and was likewise very drinkable. It went down quick but I didn't feel like having another right away.

Rapscallion is an interesting light-flavored beer. It is neither outstanding or revolting, and as such, it's just a slightly above average pale ale.

On tap, 23oz for $5.25 at Big City in Allston.

A- A honey gold pale yellow. Moderate head.

S- Sweetness, honey for sure. No hops detected, still a pleasant bouquet.

T- A moderate pale ale with honey, this beer is mighty refreshing. Cool, crisp, and reasonably flavored with honey, this went well on a hot day.

M- crisp, not too sticky or sweet.

D- I'd have another...Great price point and great, easy-going beer. It's good for what it is. Nothing mindblowing, but a solid brew all the way around.

On-tap 6/20/09 at The Penalty Box in Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a decent lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of citrus, honey, light caramelized malts and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste is decently balanced with sweet flavors of citrus, caramel and just a touch of honey. There's a nice hops bitterness that follows and isn't over-powering. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, although it might not be the best pale ale out there, this is a good milder beer to drink for a long time.

On tap at Beacon Street Tavern. Served in a standard pint glass. Orange-yellow in color. Minimal head. Sweet, flowery smell. Taste was a surprise. Light, hoppy beer with a significant dash of honey. Very tasty. Only issue is that the beer may be considered a bit too sweet in my book. While I really enjoyed the flavor, it was a bit overwhelming for a whole pint. Would have been better off served in a tulip glass. An interesting beer to try. I am glad that Rapscallion is still puting out fine brews.

Received a standard pint from my server.

Appearance: Beer has a nice medium, see through golden color. It was served with a fizzy 1 finger white head that remained for roughly half of the beer. Moderate amounts of carbonation could be seen in the beer.

Smell: Mild amounts of yeast with light infused honey.

Taste: Not my favorite style of pale ale, however this one did it right. Light yeast on par with most pale ales that followed with mild, barely sweet honey flavor. Subtlety was key with this one.

Mouthfeel: Light, crisp body with medium amounts of carbonation.

Drinkability: For the style of pale ale, this one has a decent amount of drinkability. Between the body, and properly handled flavor, I could go for more than just a pint of this.

Final Thoughts - Not my favorite at the bar, and honestly for the price, I will tend to grab other choices, but this is solid none the less. Good choice if you are looking for something different (especially since Magic Hat's Hocus Pocus got the axe), or trying to get someone into trying different beers.

I had this at a tasting. Pretty good. I will be picking up a few to get a more extensive tasting of this beer.

Poured into a small tasting glass from the tap.

The color is a pale yellow, slightly brownish with a white head. Not too foamy.

The smell was sweet. Honey with an almost butterscotch flavor to it.

The Taste is honey with a little hop flavor, some butterscotch very smooth and sweet but not too sweet.

This beer was really a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting a beer that had a honey flavor to be so good but this worked out to be something I will keep in my list of good session beers.
