On-tap 12/28/08 at Doherty's East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a bright amber color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a decent lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is kind of faint but contains caramelized malts, citrus, some spice and some hops.

T: The taste is gives some spice up front along with sweet flavors of citrus and caramel. There's a good hops presence that provides a nice balance. The malt character provides substance but is light enough to make it drinkable. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly spicy.

M: Smooth and very crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is very clean.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a nice lighter beer with some strength to it that is worth drinking for a long time.

going out of stock at my local, so I indulged.
from bottle, slightly cool to room temp, in a glass chalice.

A -initially lots of white froth, but before long, gone-o. slightly cloudy, browny orange. nice color and opacity.

S - fresh bread with apricot and light apple

T/M - sweet on lips and toasty on tounge. smooth swalow with a dry and slightly bitter aftertaste. solid but not complex.

D - good to the last drop

First bier I tried at the Summit. Premier was a golden-orange color, clear, with an extremely small head. A tiny bit of lace was left. The aromas were spicy and yeasty, yet quite mild. Relatively smooth on the tongue, but body was perhaps a tad thin. Pleasing flavor: yeasty notes, some peppery spiciness....reminded me of a mellow Tripel. I would like to sample a whole bottle of this to re-affirm my thoughts on this.

Rapscallion, eh? Somehow I get the feeling that if the brewers of Duvel imitators continue to spin upon that devilish name, the field of available satan-derived monikers will be so reduced that we'll see an artisanal golden ale called Li'l Stinker.
Thoroughly golden color, bubbly, short white head. Aroma is sweet, spicy, and fruity, with citrus and peach upfront. Huge hops on the palate, backed up with appropriate malt, and full, sweet fruitiness that continues through the long and lovely finish. Strength is ungiven, and is unfelt. Smooth, tasty, very drinkable,though the citrus becomes more dominant at the end. Great tasting ale, but a bit light for it's style.

Big head and a thick merange lace on the glass. It has a pronounced sour nose of sour apple and unripe fruits. Taste of honey and yeast but has a unique sour and slightly tart after taste that lingers for a while. Mouth feel is light and you can feel the warming of the alchohol in your belly. Good beer.

12 oz. bottle served lightly chilled in a Rapscallion goblet.

Appearance: Hazy burnished golden orange topped by a healthy off-white and bubbly head. Dissipates to a film and ring in good time and leaves small splotches of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Very yeasty. Peppers, orange, apricots, and lemons. Floral hops round out the nose.

Taste: Vaguely sour and acidic initially. Sweet malts with a lot of peppery and fruity aftertastes. Again, very yeasty.

Mouthfeel: Light, crisp and refreshings. Very palate cleansing.

Drinkability: Reminiscent of Delirium Tremens, but more sour and tart. Hurt a bit by the acidity. Food is definitely necessary with this. Might I suggest moule frites? Not bad at all, though. Not in the least.

Cloudy reddish peach with a 1/4 inch foam topping that falls to a stubborn table. Mild nose with minor hop notes and a suggestion of fruit that I can't place yet. There it is in the taste...is this a fruit beer? Strong presence of apricots and candied orange peel. Nice hop bitterness over the top of a carbonic tongue lashing. Mouthfeel is barely medium, but doesn't take away from the experience. Refreshing beer that is almost too strong for its own good.

Rapscllion Premier pours a clear copper-amber. It's topped by a fluffy, off-white head. The aroma is sweet and fruity. There are notes of caramel, citrus, juicy fruit, a mild resinous hop character, and hints of graininess.

This beer is sweet overall. Toasty malts upfront move into bready and caramel malts with hints of citrus and fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hop flavor. This beer is light bodied with prickly carbonation.

This is a nice easy drinking beer.

At Finz, Salem MA

True gold with a short white head. Fair retention and lace. Smells of potpourri, clover honey and a whiff of light grain as it warms up. Tastes like it smells, with floral honey being the main theme. Mouthfeel has a zippy carbonation with a little drying in back. A more than sufficient beer to wash down a burger.

The tracking number on this particular beer was 1622. I poured it straight into the glass that came with it, trying to get as much head as possible. I'd already had another one in the 4 pack and found this to be a beer that no matter how many ways you try to pour it, it just can't get a decent head. This time was no exception, it had a small head that quickly cleared with just a few bubbles. Looking at it with it's amber/orange color, it reminded me a lot of apple juice. The nose on the other hand, even without the help of a head, was very inviting. Malty, very fruity. Hints of apples or pears possibly.
The initial taste was not as note worthy as the nose. Very light, with a taste of sour fruit. Not heavily carbonated. Very lightly hopped.
I'm torn with this beer. I really like the company a lot. The whole brewtrack system is very cool. Check out the website to learn all about it. But the beer feels like a belgian trippel that just falls a little in a few areas. Seeing as how this is the first attempt by the former Northeast Brewing Company brewmaster, it's really hard to say something bad about it though. I'm really looking forward to see how this beer is going to be down the line with a few tweeks.
And plus.. it's worth trying just for the glass.

Brewtrak 1633.
Translucent goldenized apricot. The head is dirty ivory, and full of rise and stick.
Nose is mostly yeasty. Like unrisen bread made with smidgens of peach preserves. Solvent notes arrise, especially as it warms.
Pale maltiness upfront. Crusty- but not toasty- breads. Grainy peaches, then plain graininess. Fruitiness is elusive, only glimmers here and there. Sweetness appears mostly in honey form. Touches of spice provide contrast. Coriander primarily. Everything remains soft. Herbal-laced floral hop closing adds trickling bitterness. Rubber cement burps, however infrequent, are a bit of a mood-killer.
A medium bodied brew that is heavily cushioned by its tiny, active carbonation.
This is modestly flavored. It suggests a diluted tripel.
Drinkability is a strong point here. 12ozs were gone in a flash.
This is a better-than-decent, alternatively-styled quaffer.
I enjoyed it, yankeeheel. Thanks.

golden orange with a white head. floral sweet aromas pervade with and underlying acidic near tomato juice smell that softens as the temperature rises. the tomoto juice qualities are thankfully not found in the taste. this beer has a real pleasant sweetness, floral peaches and pear mostly with a light herbal hop bitterness that adds a nice crispness. a light clove spiced flavor in there too. the light meduim well carbonated body, suits this beer well. good drinkability despite the sort weird smell, since it does taste pretty good, and may have just been a little off or something. in any case the smell isn't enough to make me dislike it.

Pours a fluffy white head over a copper hued body. Head recedes leaving a wisps of lace. Aromas of tart citric fruit and perhaps a hint of coriander. Flavor is similar although slightly sweeter and not nearly as tart as my nose led me to believe it would be. In fact the malt is fairly substantial and its sweetness comes through in the finish as the tartness fades. Still the tart and citric notes are major players in the flavor profile and lend a moderate bitter crispness. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel.

A little less attenuated than I expected, but the extra malt backbone helps balance out the initial tartness-- still it seems a little off kilter to me. Nitpicking aside, this is a tasty Belgian inspired golden ale… or whatever is.

Sampled at the CTRiver Brewers Festival.

The beer is a darker golden color. There was a ton of head to the beer (were we in a TV ad?). Somewhat sweet, malty aroma. Possibly fruit in the aroma. The taste was slightly sweet, with a hint of bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Decent, but not special at all.

An Interesting ale... Poursout to a golden mustard color with a small head of white foam that bubbled off rather quickly. Medium level of carbonation, no lace. Inital scent reminded me of a latex surgical glove; when agitated, the real aromas come out. Some sweet malts, maybe some herbal notes. Taste was good; a lighter maltiness over sweet grains, some sweet corn flavors. Nice. Mouthfeel was medium light bodied, kind of bland. Not a lot going on the in the "experience" dept. Average drinkability; I could take or leave this one. Probably best on a hot summer day. Worth a try. Special thanks to conneticutpoet for the specimen.

On-tap, poured into a pint glass.

Clear, pale orange with a thin head. Underwhelming.

Smell is fruity, mainly banana.

Following from the smell, taste is of banana bread. Hints of apricot. Taste dissipated with continued drinking.

Feel was bit too watery for my liking.

Easily drinkable. Just saw the ABV -- didn't notice in the bar -- and definitely very drinkable for 7%.

On tap at the Rattlesnake on Boylston St. Served in a standard pint glass. Dark reddish color with orange and brown highlights. Large white head. Smell was very fruity. Flavor was sugary and had notes of strawberry, cherry and coriander. I did like the taste, but the mouthfeel was another story. This beer was way too sweet and malty. It left a sticky feeling on my palate after every sip. I enjoyed drinking this beer, but I could only drink one at the time then I moved on.

I believe I had this in the Bukowski's near the Prudential Center. Anyway, Rapscallion Premier was a cloudy dark amber color. It had a big creamy head that lasted forever. The aroma was floral and spicey. This beer was sweeter and mellower than it appeared.The taste was fairly good, a bit spicey and caramelly. Mouthfeel was a little bready with a decent hop bite. The finish was bittersweet, dry and slightly astringent.

Medium head and carbonation that goes fairly quickly. Nice golden color, smooth with some sweetness from the malt - imported from France and Germany. Finish is balanced between the malts and hops.

Pale orangish-gold in color with a fine off-white head. It leaves a collar and some nice lacing.
Aroma is fruity and yeasty. Orange peel & lemon zest with a bit of spice.
Light fruity taste with a bitter bite and a metallic tinge. There's a mild coriander note too. Finishes slightly astringent.
Mouthfeel could be called creamy if the carbonation was just a touch lower.
This one disappointed me a bit, but it's still a solid brew.

Presented in a 12oz bottle and poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Had a slightly cloudy peach color, vigorous carbonation and a foamy vanilla colored head. No lace.
The nose had a very floral and fruity sweetness to it. Also quite a bit of spiciness in the form of clove, coriander and white pepper notes. Very light wafting of alcohol fumes. Almost tripel-ish.
A few pulls and I kept getting the very sweet tastes of soft cotton candy and peaches. Almost syrupy at times, it strove to balance things out with a solid punch of coriander and clove spiciness. Malt profile is kept under wraps at all times; mildly dusty, yeasty tone.
Premier had a fuller feel than anticipated..a bit cloying at times.
All in all, this is an interesting take on the style. Fairly drinkable although I wouldn't really go for a lot of this one. Thanks to goodbyeohio for the surprise addition in our trade!

This translucent amber libation poured with a vociferous torrent that hissed and bubbled as the head took form. The head materialized as a fluffy cream white bubbly layer atop the beer. Slight lacing on my glass, but gravity was the master here..

The nose produced a mild pleasant citrus-yeast combination with an underlying fruitiness along with a note of bitter hops.

Flavor was a tart bitter hops foundation supporting sprites of yeast. I couldn't detect much else, thus aside from the yeast the over all flavor profile was rather "monochromatic" and one-dimensional.

The finish was a tireless sustained bitter hops promenade that seemed to endure on my palate to the start of the next sip.

Mouthfell was a pleasant lively effervescent experience. Seemed to cleanse my tastebuds for the next sample.

While not a complex flavored beer, nor a particularly volatile brew emitting an olfactory presence like a bouquet of spring flowers, I do consider this beer an enjoyable 'beer-time' interlude during a busy day.

Appears a deep, cloudy, glowing gold with a tiny, fizzy white head. Tiny speckles of lacing that don't seem to stick.
Smell is of light, sweet tripical fruit with a touch of bubblegum.
Taste is reminescent of light bodied fruit cocktail.
Mouthfeel is light, fizzy, and peppery hitting the tongue in the middle of the tongue and releasing a bit of alcohol and sourness before the swallow.
Drinkability is ok. This is a slightly bland version of something that could be good.

It's ok, dog.

Poured into an oversized pint glass from the tap at the Brewery Exchange in Lowell, MA. Color is amber and clear. There is little head but decent lacing.

Smells very estery with light floral scents and hints of plums and peach.

Light malt up front is bready. There are medicinal phenols in the middle with other yeast flavors and light alcohol burn in the finish.

Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated. I think this beer has a lot of good flavors going on, but I don't think they combine in a great way. I think the recipe needs some minor tweaking to make it a great beer.

On tap at Sunset Grill. Served in a tulip.

Pours a moderately-hazy light golden color with a good white head and a bit of lacing as it makes its way down the glass. Thin cap nearly throughout. The nose brings forward some light banana, a bit of yeast, and a light grainy presence. Nothing too complex, but everything fits together quite well. The flavor falls along the same lines. The banana was light and carried the rear, while the more forward flavors were a bit of other yeastiness as well as a pervasive presence of grain. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Pretty decent.
