A lovely day up in the mountains that let me try a huge sample of some new NC locals. Always thrilled when a day works out like this one did.
Looking for something a little heavier I decided to stumble upon Aviator to bring me the goods. A nice light brown color with hints of light shining through on the sides and bottom of the glass that led me to believe there was a lighter body to this one. Nice little off white head fades but left behind a broken crown which seemed to do the job nicely. Aroma is light caramel, hints of roasted malts, a touch of honey, definitely sweet. Bit light on the feel, not a lot of body here, but the carbonation at least kept it from feeling dull. Smooth, subtle flavor builds a bit as it warms, but never really comes across as anything more then light brown ale. Still, not heavy and easy to session, no issues with getting this one to go down smooth.
Overall pretty average and easy going, nothing really stand out or complex about this one.

Enjoyed this one at the Aviator Tap House in Fuquay Varina, NC.
Served in a standard pint glass, this brew was medium to dark brown, clear as far as I could see, with a modest head of perhaps 1/2" or less. Head retention was pretty short but there was a good layer of bubbles that stuck around for the experience. Very light lacing.
Aromas were pleasant, with a mix of middle toasted malts and a light earthy hop. Nothing flashy, but enjoyable still.
Somewhat complex malt mix combines what seems like light and medium body toasts with just a bit of something on the dark side. Didn't catch it in the aroma but it's nice. The malts work well with an earthy somewhat grassy hop presence that does well to bring it all to balance. Finishes well, almost quickly, with a little bit of that earthy hop in the linger.
Mouthfeel is middle of the road, which is perfect for this brew. Carbonation matches the weight well and works with the flavors. Overall this is a very enjoyable brew that I could see drinking all afternoon with friends. Nice job!!

On-tap at Flying Saucer Raleigh on Nov. 30 served in a standard pint glass and reviewed from notes. Served a murky brown with a thin khaki head. Aroma is citrus hops, dark malts and brown sugar. The taste is citrus hops and sweet brown malts. The hops are tasty, but there is something off about the malts. The beer is light and crisp with smooth carbonation. This is a somewhat enjoyable India Brown Ale, but there are better ones out there.
