I bought a canned six pack after visiting the brewery and thought a review was more appropriate when trying several. They poured a heavy creamy head each time that stood almost two inches in height. The color is an iridescent orange, almost glowing in the right light. I smell Christmas each time as the aroma is a sweet pine tree scent. A touch of lemon in the nose it follows with a nice hoppiness. The taste is smooth but
not subtle, you get a strong pine/hop flavor and a slight metallic finish. This IPA is light, easy to drink and overall a nice addition to the genre.

I unfortunately got an over-primed bottle....so the taste and smell are affected severely. The beer poured hazy orange with massive fizzy head. The smell and taste as mentioned above are similar to other over-primed beers. There is that bitter citrus and sweet malt base. The mouthfeel was medium in body with huge carbonation. Overall, I'm disappointed...hopefully others have found joy in this beer.

With an elegant malt base and a less-strict hop dominance; Aviator's flagship IPA shares an American, British, and somewhat Austrian influence for uniqueness and charm.

Bright goldenrod in color, the beer builds a frothy, creamy head that settles into a somewhat fluid density after a few minutes. Solid retention and subtle haze continue to sing the praises of a well made American IPA.

Bright, zesty, herbal, and and pleasantly fragrant- the nose is chocked full of broad grass, wood spice, pine needles and light citrus. And heading into taste, the aromas bridge over to flavor in seamless fashion. Backed by the supple and elegant malt taste of crackers, bread crust, and thin grain sweetness, the malts support the hops but never try to rival them in balance. The beer turns at middle palate away from the earthen spice and malt sweetness and toward dry malt complexes and deep, sharp and resinous bitterness that's similar to grapefruit and orange peels.

Firmly dry to finish, a return of pine accompanies alcohol warmth and soft hop-derived astringency. Its hop display is very complex and highly variant despite the bulk of flavor resides under the threshold of obvious flavor profiling. Its an easy drinking IPA that's well suited for a vast array of cuisine or occasions.

a clean light copper pour with 2 fingers of frothy head which gave off excellent lacing and dissipated very slowly. smells of fresh hops (piney, grapefruit, garlic) and caramel. the flavor is a bit on the herbal side of hops, some light garlic spicyness, a lingering bitterness throughout with a kiss of grapefruit citrus flavor towards the finish. slightly sweet caramel bready flavor for the aftertaste. medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, moderate amount of carbonation.

a really nice ipa. wasn't expecting much from this one, but i'm quite happy with it.

Big ups and major props to my local, in-person trader, tone77, for keeping The CANQuest (TM) in mind during his recent visit to North Carolina! I CANnot CANvey how excited I am to try some of these CANned beers!

From the CAN: "A golden brew made with Pale Ale and Vienna malts. HogWild is a veritable fest of hops. The beer is designed to let the hops shine through; the flavor is not hidden with sweet malts. HogWild is brewed with Chinook, Columbus, Cascade and dry-hopped with Magnum and Willamette. Hoppy and refreshing ale."; "SRM: 5.4".

I was so excited on the Crack to see another brimful CAN that I went with an inverted Glug and ended up with overflow for the first time in a long while. Whoops! In the meantime, my kitchen smelled like a hops processing facility - citrus (primarily grapefruit) and pine forest were prevalent. The massive, rocky, eggshell-white head slowly fell, leaving a load of lacing in its wake. Leaning in, the nose was like the proposed name of my bar - Woody's House of Rabbit, Kangaroo and Frog. Hops, hops and more hops! When I say that the head was massive and rocky, I mean that it looked like it had been sprayed out of a non-dairy whip CANnister or taken off the top of a lemon meringue pie. Color was a hazy orangish-yellow, so I was unsure about their SRM rating as I do not have a chart. The smell was starting to drive me mental! I am reading Irvine Welsh's latest, "Skagboys" and although my hop habit is not what it once was, I still occasionally get the screeching monkey on my back and this was one of those times. Mouthfeel was medium and the bitterness of the grapefruit hops was prevalent on the tongue. With all of the other data provided, I wonder why they did not tell us the IBUs. Some reviewers have taken them to task for this being unbalanced, but I say that is truth in advertising and caveat emptor! It is meant to be a hop bomb for hop heads and as a self-avowed lupulin lover, this was in my wheelhouse. Finish was dry, bone-dry, dry as the Zephyr winds blowing across the Sahara Desert dry. When I talk of a beer being gaspingly dry, this is to what I am referring. I need some water! And maybe a hit of oxygen. Whew! Good, but not for everybody.
