The place is pretty trendy as you sit on the open 3rd floor patio overlooking the center of Franklin Street. If you enjoy people watching it is quite the find as you perch on a stool in the warm summer evening. The right side of the inside dinning is a backdrop of the normal brewing equipment through a glass wall.
I did not try the food so I cannot comment on how the food tasted but the quality of their beers was poor overall. I found none of their beers to be very appealing.
I find the service of this establishment to be rather slow, it was difficult to get a pint.
I cannot remember whether they have 4 or 5 of their beers normally on tap. But the styles they approached were the standard fair.
Overall I would suggest this for people going out to hang out but not to people who wanted to really enjoy a few good pints.

Ok... so this appears to be a trendy hangout for the local college students. We went in the middle of winter seated in the "heated patio" that wasn't so heated... (ok.. the half of my body facing the 'heater' was ok I suppose.) I can see the patio being enjoyable during the warmer months...
They only had a handful of beers available the night I was there. I tried their dark lager and the IPA. The IPA was pretty forgetable, but it wasn't bad. The dark lager was pretty good--decent roasted malt as the main event with a weak change towards the finish to vague hops. Drinkable, but nothing exciting.
The food was actually pretty good..I had a NY strip w/ melted gorgonzola... it was cooked just as I ordered it along with decent sides of potato/vegetable. Others with me enjoyed their meals as well.
Service at the dining table was good, although we didn't go up to the bar due to the crowd... I wouldn't mind going back.

This place has a great location. It's on the third floor right in the middle of downtown Chapel Hill. The balcony area is a main factor in this establishment's popularity. The interior is nice, the bar is big, and the brewery is very visible through walls of glass.
The beer's and the brewer are of English style. The stout the IPA and the pale are the beers that I would recommend tasting. The brewery doesn't have lagering capabilites, yet a lager is produced here? The brewers are very nice and will come out and chat with you at lunch if they're not too busy.
The food here is very iffy to say the best. I've had good experiences and bad ones. The menu attempts to provide unique choices, most of the dishes are on the expensive side. The clientele and staff are often times arrogant and this makes for an interesting situation (is there a winery here too?)
This place is only a few minutes from my house, but like many other beer nerds in the Chapel Hill area, I would rather hit the Carolina Brewery.
