Beautiful dark amber color, bright, with a good beige foam.
Malty smell, light caramel, a bit of sugar, but stilll quite interesting.
In the mouth too, malt and light caramel, easy, but not banal, easily drinkable.
A hop touch, light body, fruity, with notes of chocolate and hazelnut in the aftertaste.
Easily drinkable.

330 ml bottle, bought while on business in Stavanger, Norway. Poured into a clear, plastic cup (because that's all I had).

A – The color is a deep brown but very clear and not opaque. The head is thin, off-white and made of tiny bubbles. Some lacing on the glass.

S – The aroma is sharp earthy/piney from a hop or spice note that I don’t recognize. Either it is a hop I’m not familiar with or maybe Northwestern US hops with a spice addition that changes the aroma. There are also some roasted notes and maybe a little malt.

T – The taste is dominated by the same hops or hop/spice detected in the nose. Again it is an unfamiliar mix of earthiness and piney notes, with the weight leaning towards earthy. It’s not bad, just new to me. There are also some minor roasted coffee flavors.

M – Light to medium body. Prickly, slightly harsh carbonation. There is a strong, almost soap-like, hop bitterness. No alcohol burn.

O – This is an interesting beer. Initially it is reminiscent of an American Brown, like Pete’s Wicked Ale, but then the flavors and aromas take off in a new direction. Unique, very drinkable, and more highly hopped than most European ales--this is worth checking out.
