I love the food here...LOVE...My usual is the duck/bacon/Jalapeno with onions and kraut. I've had most of the sausages however, and they are lovely. The fries (with truffle oil glaze) are the best in Los Angeles. And I'm saying that as a lifelong native.
But for the love of god, just because you're in downtown doesn't mean the only american beer you should have on tap is fucking PBR. Get a clue and put some california IPAs on draft. Sausages and IPAs are a combo sent from the heavens. Get with it WorstCoochie!

This biergarten started my love for beer, so with that being said, wurstkuche is a must. Anyways, its kinda hard not to be impressed by rabbit and snake sausage adjunct with double deep friend Belgian fries and paired with an 1809 Berliner Weisse. From their impeccable sausage selection to their extensive tap system and bottled beer menu, this place is nothing less than amazing. Aside from the pricingand the prowling one must do to find people who may be leaving their table, this place is awesome and highly recommended

It's hard not to love a place that has rabbit sausage, Belgian fries and 25+ quality beers on tap.
The sausages and fries are so good I've gone a few times at lunch and didn't even drink a beer. gasp.
You order in one small room, order and get your beer, then walk down a hallway into a much bigger room, find a place to sit with your number and wait for food. Kind of an odd service style but it works for the most part.
I typically prefer hoppy beers which is not the style here. This is a German and Belgian beer joint and while all of the taps are really great beers, none are hard to find and they hardly ever rotate.
I have had mixed experiences. Sometimes I've waiting a really long time to order, even longer to get food, and sometimes I just eat, drink, drink some more and leave without a hiccup. I would never give a bad review because the line is too long, but I have had some problems getting served because they attract such a big crowd. Just syin...

Atmosphere- Think a classic German beergarten that was completely redecorated by a modernist. The social atmosphere is great, the people are great. A good time had by all.
Quality- Cleanliness and care is clearly put into all aspects of this operation, down to their cucumber flavored water. Their beer is all high quality, and so is their food.
Service- Not much service by design. Order at a counter and self-service water... but they do bring your food to your table. The service that you DO get by design is quite good.
Selection- Not a great selection by measure of quantity, but definitely a great selection by measure of quality. Many great German beers here, as you would expect (including a Berliner Weisse), but also a number of Belgian and US beers on the list to balance things out!
Food- I had the rattlesnake and rabbit sausage with peppers and onions. It was just superb. The side of fries was had with chipotle aioli, and that was about average.
Overall- A place I very much look forward to revisiting!

This place is a madhouse from 5 to 7 p.m. The loft scene and young professionals all empty into this place after work for their fries and obscure bratwursts. The line for food is a bit ridiculous for what amounts to a highbrow Pink's but to each his own, this site is not called Hotdogadvocate.com.
The beers are fairly one note with plenty of german/belgian offerings. Of note they had Duvel Green and some other rare beers but the pricing, $9 at times, is a bit too much given the location and atmosphere. I guess this place is better than Angel City brewing, but it just isn't worth the money and hectic madness. Sitting on park table benches isn't amazing either. Parking situation is a nightmare. These things aren't exactly dispositive but it certainly is a drawback.
Don't avoid, but you may feel that sparing visits may be warranted.

Wurstkuche. Although I live nowhere near this place, I've been there about a half dozen times. Largely due to a very close friends in-laws living nearby, and been invited to join them for lunch. Great local spot that has really exploded from when it first opened and I got a chance to check it out. Forewarning, if you go on some days, there WILL be a line to order.
I would designate this spot as good beer spot (though nothing extreme, or rare that you might find at say Surly, Verdugo, Blue Palms, etc.), that carries some local So Cal brews from time to time (Bootleggers comes to mind) but mostly focuses on German Beers, along with a nice selection of Belgians.
The main draw though is the food. You select what type of sausage, bun (or no bun) toppings, dressings, and any sides, along with your beer order. Your given a number for your food, your beer, and then have to find a spot to eat on the other side of the kitchen while you wait for your order. There is a 2nd bar there as well if your not interested in the food, but if you’re at Wurstkuche, I highly recommend having food, since it's such a large draw, and is pretty good too.
All in all, the spot brings a good amount of life ( and quality beer) to this neighborhood, that has seen some revitalization over the last 10 years. Growing up in the 1980's, the area was pretty run down, and while there are still some remnants of that, locally business seem to be coming back, as well as families to rent lofts, which is great, and Wurstkuche is a part of that community.

Been to this place many times before, now it's time for a review.
The atmosphere is awesome, and it attracts not so many beer geeks as it does artists, hipsters, families (staring at a rather large one right now), and people who loves them some German beers with their brats.
Speaking of brats, the selection is phenomenal, and a quick internet search will reveal the variety of both the traditional and exotic they serve, as well as Belgian style fries and several dipping sauces meant to pair with said fries.
The beer selection, to the beer geek, may appear to be a different story. Don't expect to come here for rotating tapes, but do expect plenty of taps of Belgian, German, and presently three American beers. Also plenty of Belgian and German beers in bottle as well. Most of the beers are quality (the Pabst Blue Ribbon is probably there to placate the undoubtedly recurring Hipster crowd) and includes well-knowns such as Optimator, Chimay White, Allagash White, etc. This place is less concerned with keeping up with Beer Geek Times and more about offering a well-established lineup meant to complement and contrast the food, while at the very least offering refreshment to those here for the exotic brats and fries.
The quality of the food is excellent. I am pairing one of my favorite brats - the rabbit, veal, and pork sausage with white wine - with an Allagash White, and it pairs beautifully (thank you lovely woman at the cash register; more on the service in a moment). The strong, yeasty, spicy, herbal notes pair well with the game-y yet delicate flavors of the brat, which is also topped with kraut and grilled onions. More of a complement than a contrast, but so what? There are plenty of other excellent brat-with-beer-combinations, so don't be afraid to ask the servers for a recommendation.
As far as the service is concerned, it's good. I tested the gastronomical instinct of the woman at the register by asking what I should pair my brat with, Allagash or Kolsh, and she impressed me by suggesting the former. Here is where it could improve slightly: get another damn register. The line is way too long, and while I understand it's presently a spacing issue they need to improve upon this.
Another issue for me (and many others apparently) is the price. An Allagash White and an exotic brat, which isn't large either, cost me $15.00 at least.
Bottom line, everything is tasty, service is good, atmosphere is excellent, but you pay an arm and a leg for it. It's worth it in the end but not necessarily on a regular basis.

You enter through a small cafeteria-like front room, where you order food and/or beer. The grill and cold-case are up here along with the cash registers and a small wall of custom taps (which replicate the offerings in the main bar). Someone will come take your order if the line is long and bring your beer to you while you wait in line (a nice touch).You pay up front and another server brings your food to your table (by tracking down your number placard). Service is friendly, knowledgable, and prompt.
Eclectic, friendly, relaxed, younger crowd fills up the large dining hall in back (which has a couple subdivisions of smaller tables if you don't want to sit at the long communal benches. A wall-length bar is on one side of the room, while a DJ is squeezed into a corner. It is rather loud (at least when it fills up in the evening), but not so much that you can't have a conversation with the person next to you.
Beers are served in appropriate branded glassware - in quantities clearly stated on the menu. The beer seemed fresh, and the tap-lines clean, the only criticism I can levy is that some of the Belgian styles are served a bit too cold. Bottle list is a good extension of the tap-list. Plenty of offerings from Spaten, Reissdorf, Bitburger, Aventinus, Erdinger, Uerige, Aecht, etc on the German side; St. Bernardus, Chimay, Golden Carolus, Chouffe, La Trappe, etc on the Belgian. Sours are decently represented as well from Berliner Weisse to Flanders Red - they know their beers here. For those wanting to throw money around, you can even order jeroboams of Chimay or methuselahs of Duvel. Not sure how often the selection changes, but they keep an updated menu online. Their craft soda selection is superior as well.
The sausages are slightly small, but well made and very tasty (augmented by a variety of house-made toppings and mustards). Fries are on the larger side, and perfectly cooked/seasoned.
Prices are somewhat high ($6 - $11 for draught beers...not counting the $2.50 PBR; $5.75 - $7.50 for sausages; the exotics aren't any more flavorful than the classics by the way)...but for an occasional premium "beer garden" fix, it is worth stopping in.

Space is pretty utilitarian, some tables and some benches.
Mostly belgian and german offerings, plus Allagash White, Old Raspy and PBR(!). Full list is on their website. Beers are a bit pricey.
While they have a pretty eclectic selection of sausages, the quality isn't anything to rave about. They're tasty, but how amazing can sausages be? Sausages start around $6.50, and aren't too big. The fries are good and they have a wide selection of dipping sauces.
We go when we visit friends who live in the area, but probably wouldn't go otherwise.

Place is a Gem.
Really liked the atmosphere when I walked in, friendly service up front. New age German hipster feel, but really liked it. Very clean.
The food was outstanding. There was a huge selection of different sausages and exotics. I ended up with the rattlesnake & rabbit. Ridiculously tasty and I felt the food was reasonably priced 7.50 for my dog witch was the most expensive.
The beer selection was great for the place, large list of German and Belgian's on tap and 2 North Americans (Allagash White, Old Rasputin and PBR). The beer was a little pricey which is not uncommon in craft beer, but it was more then I would expect to pay.
In all I had a wonderful experience and would defenitly make another trip there.
