A: yellow/amber orange color, slight haze with dense rocky head that kept it all the way
S: medium nose, traditional tripel nose with malt and yeastiness and fruitiness, slightly cloying
T: full-bodied, nice rounded malt with slight but noticeable bitter finish, spicy
M: well-balanced, clean, dry, yeasty, fruity, very good

Picked this up on a recent trip to Phoenixville, and purchased it direct from the brewery, so it should be quite fresh. The bottle bears a date stamp of 10/10/13.
There's a few clumps of sediment at the bottom of the beer, which is not surprising given that it is bottle conditioned. The cork pops off with a percussive thwop, allowing a bit of vapor to escape. The ale pours a luminescent golden honey amber color, with a bit of diffuse haziness and a minimal head that becomes a thin skim of wispy foam.
The aroma is fruity and sweet, with apple, peach and canteloupe smells mixing with a honey-floral sweetness that gives this some depth. Hints of banana and earthy malt are also present.
The taste is quite good; starts honey nectar sweet, with banana, honeydew melon, and kiwi, turning somewhat tangy as it reaches its finish. There's also a woody, grassy flavor mid-to-end sip that, for me, is the only real detractor from how this tastes.
Medium bodied, with a bit of a softer feel that is balanced by the tangy feel that alomst has a carbonated quality, though this does not appear to be a very carbonated beer. This tangy quality does start to dry out the tongue as you get further into the bottle.
A nice tasting tripel style beer, it is hard to believe this clocks in at 10.5% ABV. There's nothing in the taste to indicate this is a big beer; rather, its sweet and slightly fruity flavor could easily accompany a beer half as strong. Definitely worth a try if you can get your hand on this.

ark yellow in color with a good amount of haze and cloudiness built into it. Lots of carbonation streaking up toward the top of the glass, converging into a large, easily two inch high head of white foam that gracefully sat on top of the glass dropping tons of sticky side glass lace in its wake.
Huge citrus nose on this one. Very pungent with orange peel and lemon zest clearly represented on top on a nice Belgian ale. Some light notes of grass, peaches, and maybe some light grain all coming together quite nicely to provide a well balanced attack on the senses. The flavor was just as solid here. Rich notes of biting citrus just came ripping through your tongue, shredding the taste buds initially before relaxing into a mellow, but still highly floral Belgian ale. Some light notes from the alcohol and the yeast started to peak through as it warmed, hinting at some depth. Letting it come close to room temp is where you really start to find that depth. Some light grain like malts, hints of peaches and bananas and just an all out really nice profile. One of the brightest tasting Belgian ales I have had in a very long time

Had this on 2011-10-17 in Columbia, PA
A - Mostly-clear straw with a 3-finger white head and lots of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Head fades quickly and leaves scant lacing.
S - Sweet lemon grass and mild belgian yeast smell. Not overpowering but pleasing.
T - Very sweet like a Sprite soda with a few spices, a twist of lemon and some mild hops stirred in. It helps to initially disguise the alcohol.
M - Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Syrupy. Not refreshing.
O - This one didn't do it for me. I think it could be enjoyed by folks looking for a safe way into a high ABV brew but I need a richer palette of flavors if I'm going to spend my calories on a high ABV brew.

There's a very light haze. Lots of chunky lace. The head starts well but it settles quickly. Golden color, bordering on amber.
Notable yeast aroma on an otherwise pale malt aroma. Some creaminess to the nose.
Great Belgian flavor. Really represents a true Trippel. There are elements of coriander and oily pale malt. Strong alcohol presence. The body is spot on.

Pours a slightly cloudy yellow orange. Thin fizzy head with a small ring of lacing. Very mild aromas. Smells like caramel and fruit.
Tastes a little funky to me. My bottle is almost a year old, so it's not the freshest. Really sweet up front. With a spiciness to it. Some sort of weird sweet fruity notes rides through to the end. Warms the throat too. Slight bitterness in the finish as well.
Overall, I'll pass on this one again. It will be hard to finish the 750ml bottle. The carbonation seems lacking a little to me. Almost seems a little flat like it's past its prime. But, like I said, I won't buy more of this.

A- very hazy light brown, almost no head at all.
S - not very aromatic. very subtle musty, not unpleasant, aroma.
T- nice, has a good bit of lactic bite, and not at all boozy for a high alcohol brew. Would like to have seen more funk.
M - great mouthfeel, nice and thick, tho carbonation was low.
D - nice brew, it was fun to take my time with it, let it change as it warmed a bit, good stuff overall.

Served in a stemmed Tulip glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.
Appearance: As served the beer is a lightly hazed golden color with a ½" white head that persists for a fair amount of time leaving some speckles of lacing on the glass, a layer of foam and a ring around the glass. Sipping leaves scattered lacing for much of the beer and the ring of foam lasts quite a while.
Smell: The aroma is fruity sweet with a touch of peppery spice. I'd say the fruits are things like apricots and peaches.
Taste: The flavors are sweet and peppery with some nice fruity character that includes apple and some tropical fruit.
Mouthfeel: The beer is medium bodied and soft with gentle carbonation that persists for much of the beer. The finish begins with light honey sweetness and fades into dry spiciness with some hoppiness showing.
Drinkability: While this isn't the best Tripel I've tried it is a very nice one that drinks easily with one sip leading naturally to another. I'm sure that I'll be having this one again.

Pours into my tulip with a gargantuan head, off-white in color and nicely thick with a medium bead. Beer is a dark golden-yellow with some cloudiness. Aroma is vinous, floral, and estery. Tastes vinous notes, citric, acidic, also with bubblegum, clove, and earth. Finish is tangy and malty. Medium bodied with a fizzy-creamy feel. Kind of interesting beer here, a bit acidic, doesn't taste genuinely Belgian.

As a Phoenixville boy I practically grew up on Sly Fox, back when they were just a microbrewery, not necessarily a craft brewery.
A- That muddy trippel gold, clouded by fine sediment, with a white merange head that tells us loud and clear that it's going to stick around for the long haul.
S- Intense Belgian sours on top of a malty sweet backbone with hints of autumnal fruits, like apples and raisins.
T- Wow, real heavy on the sweets up front, with burnt caremals getting immediately pushed off the stage by a sour assault. Hints of root vegetables, the kind with high doses of beta carotene. Alcohol pokes its head through a bit too. Overall, really just too sweet for my tastes, which may be a result of some unintentional aging.
M- Very creamy, and the alcohol comes through to burn the roof of the mouth in a nice way.
D- The intensity of both the sweetness and sourness makes this tough to put back.
Wish I could provide a better grade for my first Sly Fox review, but this beer wasn't really my style. Maybe when I review 113 IPA.
