Poured out as a black ink-like liquid with a brown colored head on top. The retention was thin with a scattered lacing on the glass. The smell of the beer had a lot of roasted and burnt aromas coming off of it. The taste of the beer was more burnt than the nose, the bitterness reminded me of a burnt toast flavor. The mouthfeel wasn't really thick enough in my opinion to fit the style but it was drinkable . Overall it's too roasted, not enough sweetness or hop bitterness in this beer at all. This isn't something I would seek out again.
