The beer is clear dark straw with a white head with little lacing but some curtains.

The smell is fruits, nuts and nettles.

The taste has some sweet honey pear notes, nut, grapes and pine resin.

<medium carbonation, a coarse texture, a good body with a dry finish.

A nice no fuss APA.

Pours a clear gold color thin white head.

Unique flavor off the bat, I can imagine this would go well with asian cuisine. Sweet teryiaki noodle like taste up front, no lie. Its bizarre. Floral hop bouquet, full body, crisp clean finish. One of the most floral ale I've ever had, very perfumes. Flavor is mostly on the front end of the tongue, back end is extremely clean. Like no bite, no lingering sweet, just a finished sip. Slight butteriness, some biscuit comes through as the beer warms. Bitterness is there and builds but extremely slowly. That Thai corn noodle taste remains though, extremely unique. I like it. Flavors are well blended and go together somehow in some odd way

Pours a transparent copper toned orange with a pure white head and decent lace coating the glass. The nose is extremely hoppy and sweet with a strong resigny oil hop presence. There is a very light malt in there but the hops are strong behind with notes of citric orange. The taste has a more assertive malt presence with a lightly toasted bread and pale malts. There is an assertive citric hop and strong bitterness to balance. Medium to full syrupy body and a lighter carbonation with a very clean finish. The beer is balanced, strong hop presence and very clean beer.

This pale ale pours out as a light amber color with a white head that settles quickly. The aroma is grainy and malty, not overly hoppy. The flavors are mild, that seems to be common in most of Sly Fox's releases. The taste is a little grainy and has some hops in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is watey and not very complex at all. There are better pale ales out there in my opinion.

on tap at POPE in philly.

Pours a clear burnt orange with darker tints and a one finger high head which retains pretty nicely with some patchy lacing while drinking.

The nose is subtle but crisp with toasty almost biscuit-like malts and some zesty, grassy citrus.

Flavors begin with some sweet malts and more citrus zest, similar to the nose. Some floral hops poke through with bits of rind. A malted sweetness breaks in before finishing somewhat dry, but almost juicy at the same time (which is a little odd but pleasant).

Lighter medium body, a little dry feel but still enjoyable and easy drinking all the way through.

Super quick drinking and some decent flavors, although nothing spectacular.

A solid IPA but not award winning. You could easily drink this one and I would actually tell people to try this if they are heading to the Sly Fox Brewpub.

Its got a nice mix of hops in it that will not overpower people that like IPA's but not the crazy strong ones.

Pours a bright shade of copper with a soft yellow head that holds up well and leave nice lacing. Aroma of hops comes thru nicely but not overpowering. Slight hints of malt, lemon rinds and maybe a little grapefruit peel. Flavor starts with a bright hop presence gives way to malt balance and ends slightly bitter. True to the style and very well done. Carbonation makes this clean in the mouth. Overall a very drinkable beer. Low abv makes it great for having more than one.

I had this courtesy of my Mom at Market Cross Pub and Brewery in Carlisle. It was a refreshing pale ale after an evening behind the mower. Served cold in an Imperial Pint

A - A brilliant copper like a slightly used penny w/ excellent clarity and a very thin tan head. The lacing is good and clings well -the bead is fine.

S - A pleasant floral citrusy hop scent w/ a nice malt, sweet character appropriate to the style

M - A fine spicines, light medium body w/ subtle biscuit notes and ample sweetness. The finish is clean and there are nice fruity tinges. The only drawback for me was the carbonation seemed a bit high

T - A moderately sweet citrus hop at first w/ a bit of spiciness and subtle pale malt sweetness w/ a touch of dry grainy flavor. The fruit/nut mix of yeast and malt is crisp but also is missing some depth in malt. The flavor is refreshing, just has to be tasted w/ hops as the focus and more english flavor than aggressive American since the malt has dry tinges and the alcohol is subtle in the taste. The citrus cascade flavor suits this and the fruitiness of the yeast and hops are tasty

D - A very good American Pale that has a quaffable quality, both crisp, refreshing and easy to drink while not lacking in flavor at all. A very standard, solid take on the style - well done
Better than average, certainly worth a try

On tap at Sly Fox Phoenixville...

Serves in a tall pint glass, dark orange hue, sticky bubbles lace up as it simmers I notice rings around the glass, looks solid.

Smell-not actually that aromatic, I do detect some hops, though not enough to decipher, some alcohol as well.

Taste/Mouthfeel-In spite of the lack of aroma this is a hoppier version of an APA, actually surprising off the bat, I detect cirtrus hop oil with a pine kick so I assume there are at least two varieties going on here. Smooth as advertised, flavorful as well, the hops stick with you nicely.

Drinkability-The bartender claimed this as a session beer for the pub, as long as you like hops there is no reason to doubt him.

Overall- Like Troegs Pale Ale this is certainly a hoppier version of an APA and a damn good one at that, looking forward to trying the canned version, a damn good APA.

This beer came a dark honey brown with a big dimpled white head.

Smelled of soapy hops and fresh cut grass with only the slightest bit of caramel beneath it.

The only thing that I’ve ever tasted that was more hoppy that this beer is actual dry hop flowers. Wow. Tastes like dirty, garden fresh and earthy hops with a huge vegetable matter and orange-rind hoppiness to it that blew my mind. This was supported by a slight honey and bread malt that was far off in the background compared to this hop onslaught.

The mouth feel was light bodied with lots of medium bubbles that seem to agitate the fantastic fresh hops.

This was like drinking a big hop salad. I must say, I was impressed that this beer could be so flavorful with out being overly dry. This is absolutely mandatory if you dig hops.

Two Words: Sierra Nevada. This nice brew from the folks at sly fox is a dark gold, or light amber colour with a nice cap of white foam. The aromas are of zesty citrus hops (cascades?), and a light biscuity maltiness. The taste is of spicy pacnw hops up front, and some light biscuity malts in the middle. The finish is slightly dry, and begs you to take another sip of this brew. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly yeasty and the drinkability is damn good. It's funny this beer has recieved so many lower reviews, from people who gave SNPA higher reviews!

Overall: The perfect brewpub SNPA clone!

Appearance: Orange / gold in color with a nice 1" inch head that produced some light lacing.

Smell: the aroma was very floral and some malt was also detectable.

Taste: the flavor is nice as the huge malt base is balanced with a strong floral hoppiness. Some citrus tones linger in the background, but they definitely round out the flavor.

Mouthfeel: smooth but it has a very nice strong bitter finish. This was medium bodied.

Drinkability: a very flavorful and hoppier than normal pale ale that is the ultimate in drinkability. Must have if on tap.

This is a good session beer. It is a dark golden with some amber tinges and a creamy head. The aroma is full of grapefruit. The body is slight sweet and grainy and it finsishes with a good bitterness. It has more than adequate hoppiness and remains well balanced.

I'm not one for extremely hoppy beers, but this was a good pale ale. The best way I can describe this is as a toned down Victory HopDevil. Since I'm not into IPA's (but will have them on occasion), I would definitely return to this in the future. Good job by Sly Fox.

Very light copper, more of a dark gold color. Very fluffy white head. On the nose were fresh hops, possibly cascades, full of a clean citrus and peppery scent. Taste was on the light side, light grains, lemon and again with the citrus hops. Overall the flavor was a easy going, not overly complex and fairly smooth and a little astringent. Finished a little bitter and herbal.

A nice beer, one to drink, not really think about too much.

This one poured a copper color and had a nice creamy head on it.
The main thing that stood out with this beer was the aroma. It was very intense. Flowery and fruity hop smell. The aftertaste was a little too bitter for me, but I enjoyed it regardless.
I would order it again.

4/5/03:
Sampled at the Sly Fox brew house in Phoenixville, Pa.

This beer poured a golden color and had a thin white head. As I remembered – The hops are the main accent with this beer. Very intense citrus and flowery aroama. In your face. Nice grainy body that went down easy.

Gold in color with a touch of amber hue. Thin white head and fine white lace on the pint glass. Caramel malt taste is upfront followed by a smack of hop bitterness. Quite chewy in the mouth. Very balenced brew with a dry hop flower finish. Very drinkable and I enjoyed the "fullness of flavor". The chewy caramel malt flavor is harnessed by a sturdy hop backbone. Nice.

Surprisingly my favorite beer there as I am not much of a Pale Ale fan most of the time. Poured a rich amber in color with a white lacy head that followed the beer down the glass. Head retention was quite good. Sweet malt and fruity, citrus dominate the nose. Not surprisingly, these aromas continue in the mouth. Sweet malt was a little more pronounced in flavor than aroma, but was well balanced by a nice hop bitterness and citrusy flavors. Overall a pretty good brew that I ended up going home with in a growler.

This beer pours into the glass a dark amber in color. The head is a pure white that lasted a long time. The lace that was left was nice and stretched to the end of the beer. The aroma is of hops, citrus and some hints of a sweet malt. The taste has hints of the sweet malt grains and citrus, and then hops. The hop flavor seems to last to the finish, but not overbearing. This is a smooth nice beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.

Pours a clear golden, white head doesn't last long but leaves a nice ring of lacing.

Smells of sweet, fresh clementines, slight hop bitterness, and a bit perfumey.

Hops dominate the flavor much more than the aroma with earthy and herbal characteristics. There's a slight touch of citrus as well, and a very subtle grain undertone that gives a nice balance. Slight sourness in the finish is a bit unpleasant, but it's negligible.

Light bodied but very smooth and extremely refreshing. Very sessionable.

Overall: Not my favorite pale ale, but still pretty good.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a mug. Pours a slightly hazy off-amber color, with a 1/2" white fluffy head that reduces leaving moderate lacing.

Smell is mildly malty, with bits of toffee and hints of fleshy fruit. Has a soft malty taste, with a simple hop flavor and plenty of grass and floral flavors. Ends with a simple bitter bite. Had a medium mouthfeel, leaving a bit of tang on the tongue. A decent pale ale, but frankly not one of Sly Fox's best.

330ml can. ½ Pint glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Gold in color, chill haze. Resiny & subtle candy aroma. Caramel malts, slightly ripe fruit & grapefruit flavors rounded by involving bitterness. Smooth & malty palate. Medium body, medium carbonation. Oily texture. Dense butter-like & earthy bitter finish. Moderate IBU profile –just 40- balances malts so beer won´t become fat neither flat. Refreshing & easy drinkable.

Can: Poured a light copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light citrus and bitter hops with light caramelized malt base. Taste is a drinkable mix of medium citrus and bitter hops with a balanced caramelized malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation. Good and easily drinkable though a further hop punch would have been even more enjoyable.

A: Pours a crystal clear amber/copper in color with some extremely light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall light beige head that reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Significant lacing is observed.

S: This beer has a moderate strength aroma with some light hints of caramel malts and quite a bit of pine and citrus hops.

T: The beer starts out with a bit of caramel malt sweetness but then the hop flavors become apparent. There are flavors of pine and citrus hops and a mild amount of lingering hop bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This is a pretty enjoyable beer and one that I could easily have a few during a session. I find the combination of the pine and citrus hops with the mild amounts of bitterness quite refreshing.
