On-tap at the 2012 Goat Races!
A - Served with a darker shade of amber body and a fluffy, off white head...the head settled into a full ring and left some slight patchy lacing
S - Deep and rich caramel comes to mind...there is a sweet roasted malt presence and hints of dark fruit
T - The flavors match the nose...a lot of caramel in this one...dark, rich and smooth but it never becomes too sweet or syrupy...there is a strong roasted malt presence that is just adding body to the beer and not a huge roasted flavor...dark fruits (dates and raisins) are lingering in the background adding to the sweetness level
M - Medium bodied...smooth, not too syrupy or sweet, rich
O - They were only offering half pours because of the ABV and availability, but I could have easily drank a whole souvenir mug of this...rich and sweet with deep flavors that are enhanced as it warms

On tap at 2010 Goat Race. Served in a plastic cup.
Pour is beautiful, even for a plastic cup, haha. Dark translucent mahogany with an initially massive, dense tan colored head. Remains a finger thick throughout and also completely covers the cup in sheets of lacing. Aroma is much richer and stronger than the eis maibock. Toasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate, raisins, etc dominate the nose. Body is well carbonated and medium thick with a lingering chewy, malty nuttiness. Flavor has much better managed alcohol than the eis maibock and is a rich blend of initially sweet dark fruits, complex crystal malts before a mild coffee and nuttiness takes over. My favorite eisbock of the day and a nice variant of the regular Instigator.

I had this at the 2009 Sly Fox Goat Races. Served chilled on tap in the souvenir Willybecker.
A - Deep cocoa brown w/ medium brown accent and 2 finger tan cap. The clarity is translucent w/ amber shade at the glass base. The bead is tiny and little lace hangs on
S - A nice blend of dark malt aromas, roasted nuts, raisins and a sweet hop tinge. There is a light alcohol note under a bready yeast aroma
M -Full malty sweetness w/ moderate carbonation and mild alcohol texture for the strength. A big creamy lightly sugary finish
T - A tasty crystal malt flavor and dark sugar w/ dates and brown malt taste. There is a subtle fruity alcohol essence which has a dark cherry and plum note as well as a mild herbal hop flavor. The dark cereal taste is sweet w/ almonds and light tobacco element. The taste has hints of coffee as it finishes w/ mild vanilla
D- A very full flavored beer and well concealed alcohol for the style. The malt is smooth and makes for a drinkable Eisbock, which I didn't really expect. A big lager with plenty of umph and still drinkable
