A: Pours a translucent brown with red highlights. The head, which eventually settled at around a finger and a half, was the most...orderly I have ever seen. It began after a second or two after the pour, and rose steadily and uniformly, without any rockiness.

S: Not terribly strong. Malts are the most noticeable, with a definite raisin presence, and there is a backbone of pilsner-like straw cleanliness.

T: Starts off with a small burst of sweetness, with raisins stealing the show in the middle. The raisin flavor is also sweet, but not quite as much so. The end is less sweet, but still not bitter, and there is not much of an aftertaste.

M: Nothing extraordinary, but balanced and appropriate.

D: I could drink this all night.

An unremarkable, but enjoyable brew. Definitely better than the Juleol I had last night.

This beer is a nice surprise! Got this bottle from a collegue of mine who was in north Europe. Thanks Diana!

Poured this one into my Struise chalice. Nice big head, very creamy with nice lacing. Deep darkred fluid with no carbonation. That's a pity...

Taste is good. A bit sweet with hints of salmiak. The mouthfeel could be better with some carbonation.

This beer looks beautiful! Dark, dark red, almost black out of the light, a one inch head that lessens bit by bit, about a millimeter stays.
Smells a bit roasty or smokey, some caramel and some sweet, malty alcohol.
Fullbodied, malty, some roasty bitterness. pretty dry.

A really good looking, pretty good tasting beer.

A murky brown, not too viscous, not a lot of head on this one. Really, the beer is some weird combo of green and brown. Cool goat though. Not much aroma wise.

Beer was very different than most bocks I've had, this one was thin, lacked a fruit character, just seemed like someone chinced out on making a porter, went with 1/2 the malt and ended up with a thin brown ale, decided to call it a bock. It was a little undercarbonated, and just lacked taste. Newcastle-y at times. A little creamy, or maybe it just comes off that way because there is nothing else to pick up on.

Cool name though.

Poured from a .33L bottle into a pint glass. Bottle purchased in Norway. Shape does not match the picture, although label is similar. Bottle says best for 12:08. Not exactly sure what that translates into. Light lacing in the glass as I drink it.

A: Pours a rich caramel brown color with a foamy head about 2 fingers in width. Head gradually lowers after a couple minutes, but does not completely disappear.

S: Very inviting with notes of caramel, toasty malt, perhaps some chocolates? Overall a very sweet smelling beer.

T: Wow, this one is a winner. Caramel taste predominates, with a delicious sweet malt taste flowing throughout. There's something else there, a taste almost like cookie dough? Brown sugar? Whatever it is, it's fantastic. Barely notice the alcohol on this 6.5% bock, but it's faintly there in the background. Bottle recommends (in Norwegian) pairing with sharp cheeses or sweet dessert, I believe. I'll be doing that the next time I pick up a bottle of this delicious bock. Hops are faintly there, but this beer is a malt powerhouse.

M: Incredibly smooth and a little syrupy, but in a good way. Really coats the mouth with the caramels and sweet toasted malt flavors.

D: Top notch. At 6.5%, will likely catch up to you before long, but I could really sit down and savor several of these in a sitting. A truly great find.

Aged bottle, similar but not identical label as pictured, also in a tapered brown bottle bearing the Aass brewery stamp.

It poured a deep crimson tone, with a thin ring of bubbles.

Molasses, raisin, and dried plum/prune aroma.

Flavors of sweet raisin, carob or cocoa in the finish, also nutty. It feels full, a little syrupy, with low carbonation.

Wish I had a fresh bottle to compare...considering the source, this one is probably 5+ years old.

Deep brown color, little bit of a head, no real lacing to talk about.

Very rich malt and 'plum like' fruit aromas, sweet smelling beer.

Tastes like it smells, sweet, malty, fruity.

Nice creamy sort of smoothness in the mouth, sweetness on the tongue, warmth of alcohol on the finish.

Drinkable?... yes, it's good and drinkable. 6.5% abv doesn't stop me from sessioning this one.

Pours a nice medium brown with not much head to speak of,big fruity aromas some orange peel along with some sweet caramel and nuttiness.Taste is dominated by a caramel sweetness with an underlying bread dough maltiness not overly sweet but not much if any hops to be found.Somewhat of a "modest" bock but not a bad brew I would drink again givin the chance.

This beer is a clear brown brew with no particular head on it.

Smell is big fruity and grainy with a fairly strong malty scent.

Taste is sweet and malty, as you would expect fair amount of plums and raisins in the flavor. No real hop flavor present this is a malt beer.

Mouthfeel is good.

Very drinkable bock beer, a good example of the style.

Sweet at first showing off its malty side which is soon followed by a smooth herbaceousness inherent to its hoppy side. A perfect blend of ingredients. Truly a remarkable beer.

Aass Bock Beer came in a green bottle. The color was an opaque brown capped with a small head that dispersed quickly. The aroma was caramelly with some floral traces. The taste was caramelly and toasted with a hint of molasses. It was also sweet with some hop bite and a bit oily. The finish was semi-sweet, dry, and bitter. Over all it was a fairly smooth and well-balanced beer.

Pours a brown color with amber tints throughout. Tan head forms and then just as quickly fades, leaving minimal lace on the glass.
Aroma is sweet malt, caramel and wheat bread, yeasty note with a hint of alcohol.

Flavors of dark fruits, caramel, slight touch of molasses and a hint of smoke. Minor bittering on the finish but majority of flavor is sweet malt. Hops just prevent from becoming annoyingly sweet. Alcohol taste on the finish is very warming and a touch dry and spicy. Well balanced beer.
Mouthfeel is a touch thin but not anything to subtract from enjoyment. Drinakability is high, can imagine a few pints of this would do some damage to the grey matter.

Presented in a green, 12 ounce bottle. The color is dark brown with a big, puffy, off-white head. Aroma is a dominantly cereal maltiness, with a somewhat fleeting wort-like character. Very nice sweetness up front, and a nice, subtle hop finish keeps the beer from being cloying. Wonderful for sipping. Rich, intense, and marvelously drinkable.

Served in the 12 oz. bottle. The color was a dark brown, with good head. The smell was very maltish. The taste was a very sweet, cerealish taste. Mouthfeel was smooth. Drinkability-wise, with sweetness that wasn't cloying, I could definitely knock these back!

I had heard that this beer was going to be discontinued, but fortunately it wasn't. A quality bock, with a name that won't soon be forgotten, and hopefully I'll be able to have some more Aass!

Got a bottle of this at the Viking in Spokane. Was surprised at how good this beer tastes, considering its coming in a green bottle - probably the first green I've encountered that wasn't at least a little bit skunked. Anyway, it poured a very dark brown, with tinges of red when held towards light. Smell of sweet, fruity malt. Tasted likewise, with very little hop presence. This beer is nothing without its malt. Had a dark yet fruity flavor to it. It was a little "heavy" to drink. This is not something I would have downed in any quantity, but it was nice after my meal.

I've been to Norway, it is a beautiful country and Aass Bock is an incredible beer. Aass (according to their website "A real Norwegian Viking would pronounce it 'Ouse'.") is brewed in Drammen Norway and comes in a green bottle with an image of little goat drinking from a stein on the label. It pours dark reddish brown with minimal head and leaves a little lacing as it's enjoyed. The smell is of sweet malt and a little carmel. The taste is exceptional. This is beer is the number two reason why I'd like to move to Norway, beat only by the number one reason, the beautiful Norwegian women! Aass is the best bock I've ever tasted. Full bodied and smooth at the same time, it's almost too easy to drink. Sweet malt, carmel, slight fruitiness and a little hops in the finish. Damn, why did I have to be born in the land of Bud and Miller? Do yourself a favor and try Aass Bock. Mmm...
