Afterburner, in a 12 oz bottle.
A: The beer is quite pale, a macro-looking beer if ever I've seen one. No head, light bubbling on pour. There is quite a bit of sediment suspended mid-glass.
S: A minerally nose, very light, with a Berlinner Weisse-like whiff of sulphur. That aroma is somewhat tart but devoid of any habanero presence. Interesting...
T: Very light. The weisse-like flavors are still there, the minerals and soft tang. Habanero heat hits me in the back of the mouth first, a soft heat that builds slowly, gradually moving forward over my palate. The heat, at least in the first sip, was fleeting. By the second sip, the heat lingers. It isn't a burn, rather a gentle warmth that envelops my entire mouth. The lightness of the base beer is misleading, deceptive until the heat builds. The minerally flavor lingers, somewhat odd, but it can't overpower the habanero heat. A surprisingly refreshing beer, even with the fiery finish.
M: The base blonde beer, trying as it may to replicate a Berlinner weissebier, is forgettable. The habanero heat that follows isn't, a capsicum-induced bite. An outside-of-the-box beer.

Hill Farmstead wine glass
A: Still some carbonation even though this growler is nearly two weeks old. Pours out fairly clear yellow orange color. Thin layer of bright white head, forms into a ring around the glass. Doesn't leave any lacing.
S: Smell is strange and mildly off putting. I pull some hop character, but it's muted. I do get some spice notes underneath the malt bill. Just smells a little bland.
T: Much like the nose, it tastes like a strange run of the mill pale ale for the majority of the drink. Then you get this little tickle of heat that comes up in the back of the throat. Nothing aggressive, thank god. But the peppers are in there. You continue to taste them even after the sip if finished.
M: Medium bodied. Coats the mouth.

I'll preface this by saying I've had this beer at several different stages of development. This is based on the most recent batch.
A- Light color, nice white head leaves fairly quickly. Pretty basic.
S- The roasted habeneros start to peak through in the nose.
T- Starts off very light, with the base blonde ale coming through. Then the peppers catch you in the back of your throat. Nicely balanced heat present.
M- Light, balanced, decent carbonation.
D- Personally, I could drink a lot of this, very sessionable.
Serving type: on-tap
