Served on-tap at Lord Hobo in Cambridge, MA

A: Pours a clear golden yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some lemon yellow + orange highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense foamy white head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of pale malts with some lighter notes of yeast, spices, and some fruity sweetness.

T: Moderate flavors of pale malts with some light fruity sweetness and some moderate amounts of spices. Light amounts of yeastiness and a light amount of bitterness in the finish which fades quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: This is a really enjoyable beer but one that needs to be enjoyed slowly as the ABV is fairly high and the alcohol is somewhat noticeable. I was really happy to find this beer again since I had really enjoyed it a few years back before I was writing reviews - I had fond memories of the beer and it was just as good.

Poured on-tap and served in a tulip, the beer is a bright, slightly hazy goldenrod coloring with a frothy, white, light, fluffy head that is low and clingy. Nose of light spicing, with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove over a toasted grain backbone. Flavors are rich and roasty, with a slightly tangy, syrupy sweet highlight. Toasted grain backbone with some citrus sweet don't balance well, and the spicing just gets in the way. Too light to really effect the palate, the spicing seems superfluous. Smooth, full body with a rich, sweet, and slightly spicy aftertaste. The finish starts smooth and transitions into a spiced, slightly sharp feel. This beer was a bit all over the place for me.

On-tap 4/14/2012 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a cloudy deep gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, citrus, spices, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of spices, citrus, bananas and caramel. Then a hearty malt character comes in. The hops presence is mild but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, very good representation of style, this is a nice Belgian Tripel with good complexity making it worth drinking for a long time.

On tap at the 2012 launch party at the independent in Somerville.

A: served in a pt glass with a nice fluffy white one finger head and a hazy golden body... Good head retention and excellent lacing.

S; a nice fruitiness accented by Belgian yeast. Pear, melon, cantaloupe, and a light tropical fruit note.

T: much like the nose, except the Belgian yeast... I feel is a bu more prevelant adding a Belgian spice into the mix... Also the hops come into play here, I didn't really detect them much in the nose, perhaps they lens the tropical fruit aroma? But they mix in wonderfully here... This beer is very well balanced.

M: medium body, with medium carbonation, and I swear it has an almost fluffy mouthfeel.

O: another very good brew from pretty things... One i look forward to every year.

This beer has spring (and rabbits) written all over it. It's refreshing, yet filling and biscuity.

Appearance: It's a beautiful golden color, even in the dark light of a bar.
Smell: It smells fresh and reminiscent of a meadow.
Taste: Light in presentation, but a flavorful beer. It's fresh, and you wouldn't know it as a tripel if you weren't told. Malty and grassy.
Mouthfeel: It feels much like a tripel should.
Overall: Great beer that I wait for each spring. One of their single best beers.

Had on-tap at the Rattle N Hum Big Lebrewski Dude Series Part 2 event on 7/26/11.

Review taken from notes.

A - This beer pours a nice cloudy golden yellow color. It has a nice sized fluffy white head on it (fluffy white rabbit??). The head has good retention, and it leaves some nice lacing behind on the glass.

S - The smell has a belgian yeast zing to it. There are also some light fruity notes such as banana and pear. There is also and herbal quality to it, as well as some honey like sweetness.

T - The taste follows the nose quite well. There are muted notes of banana, pear, and some citrus. There are nice flavors of belgian yeast, and there is a decent hop profile. There is some lingering spice notes in the finish.

M - This has a medium body and good carbonation. It goes down good and has a nice smooth feel to it. There is some spiciness from the belgian yeast, and a bit of hop bitterness. There is also some dryness in the finish.

O - This has good drinkability. It is easy going down, and tastes great. I could have a few rounds of this. Overall, I thought this was a nice beer and a good representation of the style. Another solid offering from Pretty Things. I can't wait to have more of their beers.

This beer poured out as a nice golden color with a pretty big head on it. The lacing was pretty good as well. The smell of the beer is floral and sweet with a light hoppy aroma in the mix. The taste was sweet upfront and settled into a nice floral spice flavor. The mouthfeel was on the lighter side. Overall I found this beer to be quite enjoyable and I would enjoy having it again one day.

First had: on tap at Washington House, Sellersville, PA

Poured a hazy golden yellow, moderately carbonated, with a fizzy white head that didn't linger long. Aroma of sweet light malts, citrus, floral notes, with light spices. Nice flavor, full of light sugars, peaches, citrus, and just enough hops to give it a nice dry finish. Light mouthfeel, and quite drinkable.

I had this at O'reilly's in Harrisburg -served chilled in a pint allowed to gradually rise in temp.

The color is brilliant golden with sunset appearance with golden brown near the crown so light at the base toward amber above with a rocky 1 inch cap. There is light chill haze with visible carbonation that moves upward slowly. The bead is fine and the lace sticks in a frothy way to the glass. The smell is sweet with some tropical notes from the yeast and a slight orange rind aroma with mild floral hop odors and slight spice with a hint of alcohol. The feel is moderately full bodied with some sugary edges and moderately bitter which gives the perception of balance with the sugar texture and smooth creamy yeast which also brings out some hop acidity and mild toasted malt textures to round out the feel with a semi-dry finish.

The flavor up front is yeasty, tangy and gently sweet with a mild malt body and hint of ripe tropical fruit which leads to a more citrus and spice flavor and the bitterness comes forward in the middle. The flavor is lightly toasted in the malt dept and a slight grassy herbal element also peeks through with only a slight amount of alcohol in the flavor. The gentle citrus notes add a mild level of astringency and you get the idea there is some candy sugar as the flavor leans to the sweet side but a hint of hoppiness is still present in the finish. I liked this beer a lot, it is a satisfying and drinkable beer for the abv, I think it fits the style well -a hoppier, more American take on the tripel style which is refereshing and well brewed.

on tap at hawthornes in philly

Pours a clear straw color with some darker gold tones, thick fluffy head, tons of spotty lacing, layer of filmy retention which lasts throughout the beer.

Soft fruit sweetness, banana and clove, floral hops, hints of spices and herbs.

Slight hint of floral hops with spice and pepper up front. Fruited sweetness, banana and pear, a bit juicy. Slight yeasty funk and lemon grass. Toasted biscuit and straw malt. Finished a bit hoppy and dry, hint of alcohol.

Lighter medium body, higher carb, tingly and dry. Drinks well, fairly refreshing despite the higher ABV which is actually masked nicely. Would drink again.

Poured into a pint glass.

A hazy yellowish orange, with a light head.

The aroma is a mix of spices. I picked up some orange, but everything is pretty blended together.

Taking a sip... woah! There are beers that hide their alcohol very well. This is not one of them. This is a potent potable, and it makes it known. Getting past the booziness, the taste is a mix of spices so blended together that I couldn't pick out any particular flavor. It is balanced to be neither sweet nor bitter. But man, that booziness.

Overall, I think the booziness hold this beer back. I regularly drink imperial stouts and strong belgians like it's nothing, but this beer was a bit of a chore to get through.

On-tap at Apollo Grill, served in an oversized wine glass of sorts.

Pours hazy pale orange, starts out as a thin white cap, left with only a ring by the end, very little lacing.

Smell/taste - Smell and taste are mostly dominated by a huge orange/coriander flavor, reminds me of Sunny D. It's also got a grassy, slightly hoppy saison thing going on similar to Jack D'or. Not much to it other than that.

Mouthfeel feels thin for the style, a bit overcarbonated. Some booze present.

Not bad but definitely lacks the complexity of a good tripel.

On tap at the Lionheart in Albany, NY.

A: Hazy golden color with a finger of white head. The previous times I have had this beer it had much more clarity. Good head retention and quite a bit of lacing but this is a hoppy tripel. Ho hum.

S: I like that they use mixed yeast cultures on most of their beers. This smells like a nice saison/ tripel hybrid. Lots of earthy hops. Fresh smelling and vegetable in nature.

T: It really reminds me of a hopped up Jack Dor. The beer has a nice fresh malt profile that is quite complex. A little bit of wheat. Lots of esters from what I think is a mixed fermentation. Finishes a little dry with some interesting esters.

M: A little thick at times. Well carbonated.

O: It is a weird beer. One sip it drinks like a champ the next it can feel like a chore. Better on tap than in the bottle IMO in that the extra carbonation really helps it out.

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color and poured with a thin white head that died down and left lacy patterns of bubbles covering the surface. A moderate amount of carbonation is visible.
S: There are aromas of spices and yeast in the nose along with some notes of fruit.
T: Like the smell, the taste is both spicy and fruity and has some notes of alcohol. There are hints of bitterness in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Because you can taste the alcohol, this is a beer that needs to be consumed slowly, although it is a good sipper.

Beer is a nice golden sunset yellow, very cloudy with a nice thin white head. Aroma is belgian funk and crisp pears and green apples. Taste is unique for a Tripel. There is still the funky Belgian yeast but there is also this slight hop bitterness at the end. The hops really go well with the sweetness of the upfront flavors. It makes this Tripel one of the most drinkible and thirst quenching out there. I love the different take on one of my favorite styles!

I was only told that this was a tripel when I asked about it. It was served to me in a twelve ounce glass and I enjoyed it very much. It was a little on the dry side but I wouldn't have guessed it was a "hoppy' Tripel. In any case I really enjoyed it. The alcohol is high enough to pack a punch but not so high as to knock you out (pardon the metaphor). Very good drinker. I'll get it again.

Lions and tigers and bunnies? Oh my !!! OH MY!

I love what pretty things have done. Baby Tree is up at the top oft my all time face raves.

But OMG! Bunnies blows it all away! Please PT, don't make this beauty one and gone!!

On tap at Union Brewhouse, this young lovie pours a Marvy golden haze. Topped with a very atypical UBH head.

The nose is to die for! The fruit, led by bananas, is as clean and fresh as a greengrocer display,

Everything about this is excellent: taste of Belgium trip+++. Mouthfeel is light and airy. Drinkability: YES!!

Sorry for the deviation from my normal format but I LOVE THIS!!!

On tap at the Dive Bar, Worcester. Served in a tulip glass. Thin, whispy white head. Cloudy yellow body. Smell reminded me of lemongrass and crushed coriander. Taste was excellent. On the one hand, it had that great sugary Belgian tripel flavor, but then you can't help but notice the great hop flavor that balances everything off nicely. Neither dominates the other, they just work perfectly together. Mouthfeel was spot on for a great Belgian style ale, just enough body and noticeable alcohol presence. A great new offering from Pretty Things. It's nice to see PT beers other than Jack D'or on tap around now.

On tap at Redbones. I was there with for my girlfriend's ex-fiancees birthday party. Yeah, kinda awkward.

Hazy gold with a large white head. Sticky lace and slow skim retention. Aroma is rather funky. Not just traditional Belgian farm yeast funk but also some sort of human funk. Toe funk, sweaty head funk, something humane. And I mean that in a good way. Mango tropical fruity esters and sharp grassy hops.

Taste is Goya tropical juice up front with spicy backup. White pepper? Grassy hop resin adds flavor and mouthfeel. Dry, dry, super dry aftertaste. Not my favorite tripel but if spring ever comes to Boston I'd have another.

Fluffy White Rabbits is perhaps the best thing I've tried thus far from Pretty Things. The appearance is light and slightly hazy and a bit pilsner-like. The head is creamy, frothy and meringue-like and yields beautiful lacing. It also smells a bit like a pilsner, but with gentle spice and citrus notes.

The taste is hoppy but very balanced, and never develops a bitter hoppy aftertaste. Any slight bitterness seems to come from a hint of orange rind. It is undeniably yeasty and slightly spicy, herbal and floral.

Fluffy White Rabbits is dry and medium-bodied with an appropriate medium amount of carbonation. I stupidly forgot to write down the ABV, but it crisp, refreshing, not at all boozey, and goes down easily. This beer is an excellent tripel as it stays true to the style, but offers some nice surprises.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a Koningshoeven chalice. Brewed April 2013.

A: Hazy-gold, light creamy head. Looks like a tripel.

S: Softly floral and engagingly fruity Belgian yeast. Very nice. Hint of dry spice.

T: Tasty! A really good American tripel, in that it tastes indistinguishable from the best of the Belgians. The flavor may be slightly lacking in depth, but it hits all the hallmarks of a good tripel, from the crisp graininess to the dry-sweet spiciness. Lingering endtaste goes on for ages.

M: Luxuriously creamy in one of the best possible ways, punctuated by dry spells and coriander-esque spice. The final feeling is neutral-dry, leaving just a hint of its former glory. Moreish.

O: A damn solid beer; highly recommended. Pretty Things continues to impress, and this is perhaps the most precisely-executed of their beers I've had. Spot on. Kudos.

Pours a clear amber that borders on gold and very white and frothy head that leaves some nice lacing.

Smell:
The smell has a strong and bitter hop presence. The nose detects some clove, spices and yeast as well as a bit of alcohol.

Taste:
The hops are flowery with a bitter aftertaste. Some of the flavors include banana, which accompanies the flowery hops, and a little bit of yeast. The malts are fairly sweet but play minor role and are usually overcome by the hops.

Mouthfeel:
Biting carbonation and medium bodied. The beer feels a bit slick and ends dry.

Overall:
A damn fine Tripel and worth getting your hands if you can. I plan on getting at least one more to share with friends. the Tripel is pretty complex but I had to wait a bit for the beer to warm up before I could get the flavors.

22oz bottle purchased for $6.99. March 2013 bottle date.

A- Slightly hazy on the first pour. A touch more so on the second. Nice fluffy. White head with excellent retention. Great picture perfect carbonation feeding the head.

S- I could smell banana the minute I began pouring my first glass. There are great clove spice notes amid other yeast notes. Bubblegum, pineapple, lemon zest, and plenty of banana.

T- Sweet tropical and citrus fruits open. They are accompanied by a medium slick body that really supports them so nicely. Pineapple, banana, lemon, and plenty of yeasty spice. It's all kept in balance. The sweetness builds and carries into the finish that features spice, a nice mild herbal hop bitterness, and a mild phenolic note. The alcohol is integrated and nods its cap only slightly in the finish. The hops cut through the sweetness and make a memorable appearance without stealing the spotlight.

MF- Medium body with moderate carbonation and a great slick fullness in the finish. It's certainly not as effervescent as some of the Belgian versions or even other American versions. That said, it carries the fruity flavors so well and does the alcohol content justice.

O- This is a complex brew, but can be simplified as a hoppy tripel. Plenty of tropical fruit, citrus rind, and spicy yeast notes. It's balanced in some ways, but has so much personality. It's absolutely an expressive and unique tripel, but is put together so well. Well done. Dependable. Exciting. Complex. That said, it can be enjoyed as both a special sipper or an everyday drinker. It's that flexible. This is Pretty Things.

Classic triple body, orange and yellow hazed to nearly opaque looks just about perfect here. Head and lacing are rather lacking...or heck almost non existent. Edit, second pour form the bottle gave a nice inch of white head. I'm not sure if there's more yeast in the bottle or it was just a faster pour. Still not much in the lacing department.

Caramel malts with clove spices and a very subtle hint of hop aroma in the finish. Not a lot to speak of.

Given the simple nose, I'm rather pleased with the intense and complex flavors. Pear fruit flavor complemented by clove spices and caramel and cracker malts. There's a nice finish of hops, nothing to justify calling it a hoppy triple, but still well done.

I can't find an abv number on the bottle, but this one is clearly a big heavy beer. There's a good bit of carbonation, but the bite of alcohol is a good bit stronger than the carbonation.

A well made triple have a new brewery to be distributed here in Kentucky. Nothing special here, but I can't see anyone a fan of this style being disappointed.

Well I assume it's from this year making it around 8 or 9 months old. Snagged at the house of 1,000 beers for 5 bucks!

A - A nice hard pour produced a 1/2 inch of foamy white head. Beer itself is a hazy bright yellow with a ton of tiny yeast floaties (to be expected with unfiltered or aged beers)

S - Grassy hops is quite interesting in a triple makes it smell earthy along side of fruity yeasts, bubble gum malts, and coriander spice.

T - Ow that's quite good the hops counter act the dry aspect of your typical Belgium yeasts giving it a fruity sweet body. The finish is a tad bittering with pine and spiced coriander. At times the sweetness reminds me of pound cake. Tasty stuff.

M - Damn good for almost 9% drinks with a medium bodied and has just enough hop bite to conceal any alcohol taste.

Overall I love this experimental brew it takes the aspects of dry hoping and mixes it up with the fruity aspects of your typical Belgium Triple. If it's still around I will be sure to acquire another bottle especially for 5 bucks!
