Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Big thanks to ajsdad06 for the bottle.

The pour is unusually orange. Not that the shade of orange in unusual...I'm just used to every IPA/DIPA being that similar amber-orange. Surly Abrasive Ale was the same way. I'm a fan. Monster white head fills close to half of the glass. Retention is pretty good, and there's some nice soapy lacing on the glass.

Sweet, citric hop-centric aroma. The nose pretty much begins at sweet orange and ends at bitter grapefruit peel. That's about it. And that's pretty much all there should be. I can tell by the color and the smell that there's not going to be a whole lot of restraining malt sweetness.

The flavor is DIPA-level hop bitterness, minus the big malty sweetness. Again, we're talking about orange and grapefruit peel. Now, there is some malt flavor, but it's more of the lightly toasted variety, and doesn't do much to derail the hop train. Resinous, piney bitter finish. Wasn't really expecting this much hop flavor and bitterness.

Body also makes me think DIPA. It pushes medium-full, with a lush, creamy texture that is highly drinkable. Alcohol is very well masked. A real treat for the IPA fan.

Whew. Blast of hops in the mouth on this one. Strong salty and citrus tones. Nice consistent flavor. It doesn't really go anywhere on the flavor profile. Stays on one track, and that's fine by me really. It's pretty easy to drink, considering the style. If you see this one available, I vote to go for it. I'm appreciating these many IPAs and DIPAs I've had lately that just give a good drinking experience as opposed to being all showy.

Pours a golden-orange clear liquid. A large amount of carbonation creates a fluffy white head that sits on top of the brew throughout the drink.
Smell is amazing. The hops smell so fresh and bright. Citrus, grapefruit, orange, and flowery hops. Amazing scents, one of the best I have ever smelled.
Tastes are really strong on this double IPA. Intense hop tastes of grapefruit. A bit of piney earthiness and malty sweetness as well.
Mouthfeel has a thickness to it. Dries out the mouth a bit, leaving one to take another sip.
Drinkability is good on this brew from Buckeye. Great local Cleveland beer that I would recommend to anyone. Go out of your way to find this beer and get it. Great stuff!

22 oz bottle courtesy of kirok1999, thanks Mark! Pours a lightly hazed golden color with a small white head. Retention and lacing are both average.

Smells like sugary malt, toffee and green grape fruitiness. Not really all that pleasant, although there are parts of it that shine well enough. Ive had enough Buckeye offerings to say this has the same tropical fruit yeast/hop combo.

Taste is toffee, citricly tropical hops with a shit-ton of bitterness. I am not sure I can distinguish this a whole lot from the Hippie IPA, they seem very similar too me. Body is lacking and the beer jumps from flavoring hop to bittering without any flow and softness in between. I like some of the hop flavors, but overall the bomber is a bit hard to finish by myself.

Aroma: Citrusy and piney hop resins noted up front. Mild caramel malt notes in the background as it warms. Clean fermentation character.

Appearance: Nearly clear amber pour with a low sticky white head that retains well.

Flavor: More piney and resiny hop notes up front. Pleasant biscuit-like and caramel malt notes follow. Balance is firmly bitter and the finish is clean and dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Slight slickness and carbonic bite that add to the complexity.

Overall impression: A nice American IPA. A little too malty for my liking but still in style and still hop-forward enough to keep me interested. Worth a try.

Look: Orangish copper color 1/4 white head and no retention and ok lacing

Smell: Floral/veg hops in a very mild form and some caramel malt

Taste: Nice floral hop taste with some orange zest and grapefruit with just a pinch of caramel

Mouthfeel: Light body and high carbonation with a dry finish

Overall: Good IPA not great I would drink this on a hot summer day if the price is right and only if I did not have access to wonderful west coast DIPA's

Picked up a bottle of this in Athens, OH at the Jackie O's release.

A: Pours a crisp, clear light orange-yellow in my Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Maybe a half finger white head that settles to a quarter finger quickly. A little more clear and a little paler colored than I have seen in the style, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look tasty.

S: Sweet pineapple and grapefruit. Very very mellow for a DIPA, and I like it.

T: Citrus right up front, followed by a prominent hoppy bitterness as the oils wash over the palate. Finished very smooth, with a light lingering citrusy bitterness. Pretty good, but I prefer my DIPA's to be a tad smoother. Has a real malty, herbal flavor on the back end.

M: Excellent. Carbonation is perfect and the balance is just right. The only nit is the bitter hop flavors could be better integrated, but still sits really nice on the palate with one of the smoother finishes I've had in a DIPA, especially one with this flavor profile.

O: A good DIPA, but probably not a first choice for folks who prefer theirs citrusy and sweet. This one definitely rides the hops and has an indistinct herbal bitterness that lingers throughout. I'll need to revisit this one fresh from the tap.

From 22oz bomber to stemmed Jackie O's tulip on 6/26/11
*From notes

I purchased this bomber at Bella Vino in Athens, OH on June 25th after the Jackie O's bottle release.

A: Clean, filtered golden amber. A hearty pour yields a massive, 3+ finger head. The lacing is a beaut - big, thick gobs of the sticky stuff rim the glass.

S: Slightly fruity, though more of the bittering hops come through here. Hints of pineapple run from beginning to end.

T: Cloyingly juicy, a big-ass kick to the jowls. Though the fruit is present, the bittering hop oil is the star here, though the balance with the biscuity malt is impressive.

M: Masterful. It's creamy beyond compare and makes the entire beer a better, more enjoyable experience. Rich, velvety and the hefty weight is close to perfect.

O: Buckeye '76 DIPA is one of those rewarding finds that make craft beer so much fun. It's a solid beer - if you're ever in Ohio, be sure to look for it. Damn if this ain't a little Rust Belt treasure. Well done Buckeye.

Thanks to Chris for this.

A - Pours a nice golden honey color. Medium sized frothy white head with nice lacing.

S - Lots of grapefruit! Citrus and pine notes. Grapefruit and Clementines. A little earthy dankness to it as well. Can't wait to dig into this one.

T - Sweet citrus at first. Quickly leads into a piney earthy dank like hop flavor. Very quickly goes into a touch of bitterness, but is just as quickly brought into balance with the malt. The aftertaste is slightly bitter, but nowhere near what you would expect based on the way it starts out.

M - A little thin for the style if you ask me. Medium body, with moderate carbonation. The low point of the beer. Would like to see somthing a little thicker.

O - A delicious easy to drink beer. The alcohol is completely hidden and I love all the delicious citrus notes. An under the radar beer I would have never heard about if it weren't for the Secret Bunny BIF. Yum.

Bottle to frosty pint. It's solid. Very drinkable for an imperial, but then again, I don't know too many imperials that are only 7.8%. Could've complimented the in-your-face hops with a touch of honey, but better too hoppy than too sweet. I'd definitely drink it again.

Bright orange color with a modest head that leaves light lacing on the glass.

Tangerine on the nose. Some citrus flavor, but not as prominent as the smell. Bitterness is fairly tame.

Body (and flavor) seems fairly light for a double IPA. A well balanced but restrained brew.

A- Pours a semi-hazy golden orange color. One and a half finger off white head shows good retention. Nice ringy and streaky lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Tons of citrus hops in this beer. This actually becomes all of the aroma except for hints of a caramel malt backbone which hides deep in the backing of the nose.

T- Nice citrusy hop bite to the beer at the front end. This turns into a clean caramel malt middle that shows even a little piney hint to it. The ending of this beer shines back again with a citrus hop bite with a hint of piney hops to balance out the sweetness.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Citrus hops dominate the palate and long into the aftertaste with a hint of alcohol in the aftertaste added. Clean and crisp flavors overall with this beer being balanced overall to the correct style. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol.

D- This was a damn good drinker. I didn't know what to expect from this company after their last beer I tired but this really surprised me. I think I could get used to trying more of their beers if they are anything like this!

Good one!! I didn't realize this was a summer seasonal until I read some reviews. I got it in October and just drank it today. Good taste, but I bet I missed out on some hoppy goodness as a result of having it sit in the reefer.

Pours a fairly clear (slightly hazy) orange color. Lot of bubbles, medium size off white head with less than average retention and some spotty lacing. Smell was citrus hops (grapefruit), somewhat mild for a DIPA. I hope I get a fresh one next year for comparison.

Tasted good. Citrus hops more pronounced. Somewhat even balance with biscuity malt.

Mouthfeel is crisp. Well carbonated, hops present on the tongue. No hint of alcohol. A rich IPA.

Drinkability is good. A somewhat balanced IPA (leaning on the hoppy side). Tasty, rich and goes down easy.
