You can drink beer while you shop for beer. With a very good selection, fun events. Give it a try.

I've driven by this place many times on my way to Emerald Isle for vacation, but never stopped until this week. The front room has a collection of beer glasses, shirts, and antique/collectibles. Once you make your way into the heart of the house, the beers are everywhere. Like others have said, you need to walk around the house several times to see things that were previously missed. They have a great selection of varieties, locals, singles, and bombers. The day I went, it was raining, so we didn't venture into the big backyard to soak up the sun. However, we did stay inside near the cozy bar area. 4 beers were on tap, with 1 local and 2 of the other 3 being really solid beers. The pint and bottle prices were reasonable and I surely see myself visiting this place again next time I'm in the area.

The store is a bit eclectic and definitely has a somewhat strange layout but there is a lot of different beer choices available. The beer is organized both by country of origin and by style, slightly interesting and not intuitive to me but there were signs and they happily explained it to me.
Bottles available were quite fresh and they seemed to have all of the latest seasonals released but nothing left over from previous seasons. Either this place very actively monitors the inventory or has such a quick turnover that nothing seems to be even close to the end of the date codes. I did order a draft beer while I shopped which was poured well and with the proper amount of head, the only thing that was not great was the fact that it was served in a clear plastic SOLO cup.
The service was great - I did not catch the name of the woman that was the only employee there when I visited in the afternoon on a weekday but she was great. Extremely knowledgeable and loved talking beer - it is great to see employees that are so helpful and obviously enjoy their jobs.
This place had a great selection, definitely amongst the top 10 shops that I have come across in the state of NC and definitely the best east of Raleigh (or along the beach). They literally had about 800-900 different bottled/canned beers available and sold everything in singles or for mix-6 packs (no BMC either). They also had about 8 drafts available and they covered a fairly wide range of styles which was nice. There was also a very nice selection of glassware available for sale.
They were not serving any food when I stopped in though I did see some signage that seemed to indicate it was available when the biergarden was open which is in the evenings.
Prices were pretty reasonable which was refreshing since it seems like everything is usually a little more expensive at the beach (here I could get just about the same prices as I see in RTP and the Piedmont Triad areas).

A major deviation from the typical bottle shop in every way imaginable. I was greeted by the beautiful and brilliant St. Rachel of IPA who immediately invited me to sample from their draught lineup (growler fills and pints available). Her knowledge of craft was mind boggling and the conversation was excellent and without even a slight bit of haughty pretense that usually runs me off. The shop itself was exceedingly cozy with bottles lurking everywhere. Great selection, reasonable pricing and fantastic service. If in the neighborhood, go here. End of discussion.

Just moved away from NC and I miss this place already. It was a bit out of the way for me, but still the best place to pick up craft beer in the area. First off, the place just looks cool, an old blue/green house on the side of the road, when you walk in the floors creak and the bells on the door ring and 9 times out of 10 there is an employee (or owner) there to welcome you and say hello. Once inside, they have a excellent selection of great beers, on a scale of 1-10, i would give them a 10 on selection, taking into account thier location in nowhersville North Carolina (if they were in San Diego, they might only get a 7 or 8). As stated previously, the staff knows there store! always willing to make a suggestion, you can have a sample of all thier taps (4 I beleive, and in the times i visited never the same thing twice) or have a pint while you look around. They do events on the weekends, and I have heard they are great, looks like fun although I never made it out at night. Great Place!!!

Cool converted ranch house with all styles of beer tucked into various corners and shelves. It took some extra trips to find things I overlooked on my first pass, but had I asked, the guy working would have pointed me to it, he knew the shop. Prices by the single always make me justify my $3/bottle purchase. Bombers were in line with prices around Raleigh, singles were a little higher, but I was focused on the limited release seasonals (Backwoods Bastard, regular Breakfast Stout). Four beers on tap- Dogfish San Marron, Duck Rabbit Seasonal, Stone, and... Forgot.
Well worth a stop if you're in the area.
Update 2014. Long time since last visit. Two very helpful staff members who know their beer. Amazing selection that rivals the best shops in Raleigh. Prices are similar to RDU bottle shops as well. Great tap selection. Budding sour section is great, and had some gems I couldn't lay hands on at home due to the competition amongst buyers. No need to tote beer on the next trip down, they have plenty.

Great atmosphere, Great selection. The prices on some of the singles are a bit higher than other local places, but this is a true mom and pop place and worth paying the extra to support the local economy. The Brew Haus is a house converted into a business with each room separated by beer styles and regions. A selection of local hand made gifts and bar ware is also for sale. Their rare beer nights happen once a month and are quite worth attending. Sipping excellent beer while shopping for the same puts one in an excellent mood. They are quick to help you find something and make suggestions as appropriate. With a quaint bar inside and a nice patio set up outside (Now with Corn hole!) The Haus invites you to stay as long as you want, though being a family run business they are not open late. Taps are rotated regularly and they offer an excellent selection of Kegs to order.

This is my local beer store so I am a little biased in my opinion. However, read the previous posts as they are accurate representation. Harry and Erika have truly made this a must see when traveling the eastern coast of NC.
Most impressive is that here in nowhere North Carolina (3-4 hr drive from the "mecca" that is Asheville) you can hang out with great people and drink excellent beer from every style and from all over the world. Local regulars gather for Friday $2 draft nights, scheduled events, or just random evenings after work to enjoy some great beer.
The atmosphere is certainly quaint and inviting. Every room is different. It's literaly a small house (bathroom and all) and each room is dedicated to certain beer styles.
Aside from beer this store offers local foods and flavors as well as coffee, teas, and even a small selection of cigars.
New additions this year include a small bar in the back room. They have upgraded the outdoor area behind the Haus for more seating and have hosted several events complete with live music, food, and special drafts.
Most impressive is the new 4 tap stainless steel set-up right there at the front register. They are constantly rotating the brews and some recent memories include great ones:
North Coast Old Rasputin
Unibroue Le Terrible
Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Chocolate Stout
Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Brooklyn Chocolate Stout
Service is second to none. They know their store and they know their customers. When I walk in Lena or Erika will point out the latest brews in the lineup, not to mention the email updates when new beers arrive.
Selection is very good. They have an appreciation for German and Belgian brews that have their own room in the Haus. Being a local store they do a great job featuring local NC breweries to include Mother Earth, Highland, Duck Rabbit, and others. Based on the available distributors, Harrika's does a great job getting in as many hard to get beers as possible.
Food is very unique and ecclectic. From truffles to popcorn to steak/rib rubs there are plenty of new offerings.
Pricing is very reasonable and worth every penny in support of this local store advocating good, craft beer.

After a long day on the beach playing bocce and downing coronas, everyone decided to go out for dinner, but not before stopping by the "cool local beer store". Being down east in such a small town with what appeared to be little to no interest in craft brewed beer, I wasn't expecting very much. When I walked through the door, Erica greeted us and turned my attention to the treasure chest of brews she had in stock. WOW, such a cute little store, with a far superior beer selection than any bar or restaurant in the area. Sign-in the visitor log and receive friendly reminder emails on up-coming events, tastings, and special offerings. 911 has a rotating stock with special purchases made available, ie. Arrogant Bastard pre-order.
