No seats, no real atmosphere and there wasn't really much available that I couldn't find at any Total Wine. I got a cool variant of Judgement Day called Mayan Apocalypse (much better than the original) and I was able to buy a bottle of Framboise de Amorosa, which was fantastic. but other than that there wasn't really anything special. Kind of a huge let down. I did get a kick out of seeing "Stone Parking Only" on the curb since it used to be the old Stone Brewery.

The Lost Abbey has a very small tasting area in the actual brewery. It is kind of cool because there are no walls dividing the brewery from the tasting area so when you're hanging out tasting beer, you're also getting an opportunity to check out the operation. The brew here includes The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing regulars, current seasonals, and various special releases and the beer is top notch. I visited on a Tuesday around 1pm and received quick service being there were only a few other people visiting at the time. I have a feeling this place gets crowded really quickly on nights and especially weekends since it is so small yet so good. The tap selection is great and they also have bottles available for sale to go which is great for those brews that are out of season. I enjoyed a Red Barn Ale, Older Viscosity, 10 Commandments along with others while I was there and I took home a bottle of Serpent's Stout. Prices are very reasonable as 4 oz samplers are only $1 and most 22oz bottles are $9-$15. I would highly recommend visiting if you can.

First off, selection should never be lacking when offerings are available from two different brewery lines. The beers were superb and also some special offerings were available. The place lacked the old towne brew pub feel, being more industrial with the tap room surrounded by the brewery. Service was good, and sampling was generous. I would be happy to stop here again if ever return to the area.

The Lost Abbey is a good place to get a fresh draft in the San Marcos area of North County San Diego. On tap is a decent selection of house beers. Average prices of about $5/pint as of December 2012. Beer is served in a plain glass at about 50 degrees (my guess).

Typical micro brewery ambiance. Standing room only, no stools. Oak casks for tables. About 20 well-behaved patrons were there on a pre-Christmas weekday afternoon.

Limited parking is available in the industrial park's lot. It's easy to get there off 78 and to find with GPS.

I love coming here to have a few beers on occassion. They usually have a pretty full tap list with a comparable bottle selection to go with it. You never know what suprises they may have on tap at times and the customer service is great even when the tasting room is packed. Every time i'm there i see kevin walking around mingling with the guests. I put it down as a bit pricey just because they have some specialty beers on tap or bottle that usually run a little bit more than the beers they keep on hand they produce on a more regular basis. Can't go wrong with tasters being $1-$3 and most pints going for $5-$7. Simply just a tasting room inside the brewery that you are free to roam for the most part and ask questions about. No food served for this fact.

I'd never been before and my girlfriend decides to surprise me this morning and drive me down to San Diego. We pull up to Lost Abbey at 11 and there's only a few people there. As we get in, Tomme is just at the bar, having a beer, talking..no big deal lol. It's a nice room, lots of wood and a real good vibe. Picked up tasters of Mo Betta Bretta and Serpents Stout (which is amazing). We take the tour. Nice tour, tour guide is really friendly. The tour is about 30 minutes and was enjoyable even though my glass was empty.
After the tour we get back to the beer: had witches wit, Saison blanc, and a devotion.

We then decide to buy some glassware and close out our tab. When we get the check and pay.
The odd thing is the receipt doesnt have a tip line....tips are cash only :(.
So I decide To buy a shirt and ask them to add more money to the charge because we didn't have cash and felt bad.
Well they cant do it. The really cool part: one of the staff members overheard our conversation that we were here for my birthday. They tell me the shirt is free and not to worry. Awesome!
I will be back (with cash haha).

I thought that was really freaking amazing. Another example of how nice People in the beer industry are, the ones at Lost Abbey in particular.

I visited The Lost Abbey this past weekend since my wife and I were in the area. It’s basically a big warehouse where they do their brewing and have their barrel aging going on that doubles as a taproom for the public. There is a fairly large bar area to stand at as well as big barrels for tables and kegs with grain sacks on them for chairs scattered around. When we went there was a bit of a funky aroma throughout the building so I wonder if they were brewing a sour beer perhaps. Service was good at the bar even though it got pretty crowded while we were there. Quality was obviously top notch as the beer doesn’t travel anywhere to get to the tasting area. Their selection was also great with about 7 Lost Abbey beers on tap and 7 Port beers on tap to sample. They also sold a wide selection of bottles to go. Prices were very inexpensive for pints and tasters. I am really happy I stopped by and was able to try some of these beers straight from the source.

I have been here twice. This is the wherehouse where stone got their start. It is big open and can get cold on a winter night. The 1st time was over 3 years ago then the counter was very small and there was not man places to sit down and enjoy the beer. In the last three years the place have has added a very large counter and added a few places to sit down. The beer here is great! The service is very friendly and the bartender will recommend a beer based on what you like, they are always willing to go that extra mile to help you out. Food trucks will often come here and we had Sushi truck on the Friday night visit. It was crowded on a Friday night but we still were able to found a place to sit. Great place, Great Beer! You are able to get beers from both Port and Lost Abbey. Over all a great place.

Absolutely love this place. This is my local drink-up spot and can be found there on most Fridays. This place houses Lost Abbey and Port beers.

The staff are all amazing. They are friendly and always willing to help you with any needs. The social atmosphere is bar none the best. Everyone is friendly and always willing to accept new comers. My first time was by myself and now I have a many close friends that I talk to regularly.

The Bar is fairly large, and all beers clearly designated on the hanging chalk boards above, with both Lost Abbey & Port Beers. Large selection of bottles for sale as well. The original paintings used for the labels are also along the back wall above the bar as well.

The selection is great. Between the two breweries, you get a great assortment of styles, strengths, and flavors. Mostly year round avail-abilities with rarities available usually around their release date.

Overall this is one of the breweries that is a must visit while your in San Diego.

On the way back from the beach to our hotel we stopped by The Lost Abbey. Parking was tough but we found a spot around the corner. Walked in what we thought was the entrance to a bare room, kept walking to a large open area looking very much like the warehouse the building is. A small group of people were sitting at the corner of the bar but otherwise was very quiet. A guy came over and explained they were closed today for an industry brew day. He then asked what we were in for. I told him I was looking for a sticker or shirt and just wanted to check it out. He took us over to the bar, sold me a shirt, explained they don't do stickers. He then gave us two free beers for the trouble! What trouble? Guy went out of his way to hook it up on a day they were closed? Awesome. Beer was great of course. Service was impeccable. I would have loved to have stayed longer or visited again but no such luck. Cool place, if in the area I would stop by again in a heartbeat.
