Thanks to Todd for enabling my chile beer addiction.

A - Thin white foam settles to a thin collar and no lacing. Dark raisin-brown body.

S - Loads of cinnamon here, with some spicy Belgian yeast, candi sugar, dark fruits, raisins, icing sugar malts, and only faint chiles.

T - The taste is quite similar, with bready and lightly phenolic Belgian yeast notes, mild cocoa, light candi sugar, raisins, anise, and less present cinnamon. Again, the chiles are a bit understated. There's an unexpected spruce character in the finish that makes this evocative of Christmas cakes. A bit of alcohol warmth as well, but nothing excessive - bourbon is surprisingly dialed down here.

M - Smooth, medium body that seems a bit lighter than the listed 13.7%. Dry and tannic, with minimal alcohol heat to it.

D - Surprisingly good - I was expecting a mess with all the listed adjuncts but this turned out quite nicely. Could perhaps a bit more chile heat, but otherwise things are in balance and integrate well. Very much like a cinnamon-dusted and glazed oatmeal raisin cookie.

Muddy brown body with light carbonation. The nose is remarkably close to an oatmeal raisin cookie, just with chili heat and big bourbon overtones. The palate shows an awesome balance of chili, cinnamon, raisin and bourbon. Sweet with a medium-full body. Has a hint of dark fruit tartness in the finish. Delicious, I could drink a lot of this.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a clear reddish-brown with a foamy bone colored head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, dark fruit, and cinnamon aromas. Taste is much the same with a cinnamon flavor that lingers on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty but has a better smell in my opinion.

A - Raisin brown with a hazy body

S - Raisin, brown sugar, light cinnamon, vanilla, and pepper spice that makes a nice nose

T - Nice raisins, good cinnamon and pepper spice. There is a good malt base in this as well that gives it a nice sweetness. Cinnamon and slight spice remains on the finish. Really a nice and complex beer that brings together a multitude of flavors very well

M - Light and slightly watery. Has a slight warming presence from the peppers and cinnamon. The finish has a light spice and oak that leaves a tingling on the tongue

O - Overall, a really solid beer that blends together a variety of flavors really well. This good blend of flavor that lets everything shine without overpowering anything else is what makes the best tracks standout

Bottle shared thanks to starrdogg from an awesome trader in CA! Tried in order with all tracks in the series. This one is in the middle low part of the series compared to the others.

No head to this beer, and no lacing, almost like a spirit when poured into the glass, and the mouthfeel sort of echos that as it is a little thin.

Lots of cinnamon and dark fruits in the smell, just a touch of the spirit. VERY spice forward, but it reminds me of a warm holiday pie dessert with some vanilla bean ice cream on it, which is inviting.

The taste is more subtle in flavor than the aroma suggested, but definitely very cinnamon heavy...a touch of borubon soaked malts, not really much of these flavors are in the quad realm of flavors but it's still relatively tasty.

Feel is thin, but not boozy and low carbonation. Pretty good, overly cinnamon and needs more body.

A: poured a a very dark brown in color with pale brown highlights when held to the light with a thin khaki colored head that left a little lacing sticking to the glass.

S: bourbon barrel notes are noticeable on the first whiff with a bit of cinnamon spice, hints of the oatmeal cookie, signs of dark fruit, brown sugar, booze heat, very mild chile notes and subtle chocolate.

T: you definitely tell cuvee de tomme is the base beer but with more apparent dark fruit flavor, cinnamon spice is more pronounced on the palate alongside oatmeal cookie accents, a touch of brown sugar with a good boozy presence, mild chile burn and nice underlying chocolate notes; pretty complex.

M: the brew was medium to full in body with a moderate amount of carbonation which had a sweet, bready, dark fruity, mild chile spice, cinnamon spice, boozy and silky finish.

O: definitely a very well done variation of the cuvee de tomme and was very glad to have tried it.

Pours a dark brown with a thin off-white head. Smell is really nice, a great mix of vanilla from the bourbon, cinnamon and sweetness - a bit like a cookie. Flavor is heavily cinnamon up front and finishes a little sweet and chocolatey. I'm not getting much from the chiles here, disappointingly. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with nice carbonation. This is a tasty, very creative beer. I wish it was a little more chile-forward, but I can't complain - well done and tasty.

Lost Abbey track beer tasting.

Side by side with Judgment Day.

The beer is a similar color to the base beer, with more head and longer retention. That's what she said! The aroma brings cinnamon, perhaps nutmeg, oak, booze. The flavor is quite nice, and a noticeable improvement over the base beer. Well balanced and silky smooth on the palate. Lingering malt with a bouquet of spices. Tasty beer.

Dark, murky brown, nearly black in color, though not truly, with moderate dark brown foam. Leaves the glass oily. Thick and substantial in the glass.

As advertised. This one delivers. A wonderful concoction: warm, fresh baked goods (oatmeal raisin cookie/zucchini bread), with vanilla and biting bourbon, distinct chile character, and dark fruits. Fantastic aroma.

The flavor is just as successful with all the individual ingredients making their presence known in distinct, discernible, delicious ways. Oatmeal raisin cookie, earthy and warming chile character, coconut notes. Fantastic. Well integrated.

Full in body with low carbonation. Decadent.

An outstanding achievement. Curious to see how this one ages, but it's so delicious hanging on to it would prove to be a challenge.

Bottle at Lost Abbey in stemware at the Lost Abbey & Churchill's pre Stone Anniversary Brunch.

A: Near black with a finger of beige froth.

S: Smells like a bourbon soaked oatmeal raisin cookie initially. Very nice chili pepper notes with aromatic cinnamon. Vanilla is pronounced, with coconut (strong), oak, prune, and plum. Lots of chocolate. Killer aroma.

T: Big bourbon and caramel notes with vanilla, coconut, and oak. Dark fruit reminds me of prune and plum. The Bourbon Judgment day is great with the cinnamon and pepper, bringing to mind Mexican chocolate. The peppers provide a touch of spiciness.

M: Full body with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is chewy, sticky, and silky with alcohol warming and a bit of spiciness on the palate from the peppers.

Overall: Very good. Can't say I've had anything like this before. Another great addition to an excellent series. I'm interested to see what this turns into when the Box Set is released.
