Lots of wood, fruit and soured malt flavors. I guess I was expecting some kind of religious experience from my first taste (might have tried one other awhile back) of a Veritas, and it didn’t quite live up to that. Still, it was a very nice sour. The sour was pronounced and went well with the malt notes. Blackberries, oak, citrus rind, wine, restrained funk. I might appreciate this one more with a larger taste. Finishes with a pucker. Quite dry and probably getting drier. Pours a hazy, fading red. Little to no head, and what was there dissipated quickly. Very good stuff.

A: That hazy deep yellow/orange that is from unfiltered beer with caramel malts.

S: You can tell that the beer your about to drink is going to beer sour. Estery and sulfurous.

T: Tart and sour is 90% of the taste of this beer. One of the best sours I've had. There is very subtle caramel flavor n the background.

M: A little viscous. Very carbonated which is excellent. The sharp bitterness from the carbonation goes really well with the sour.

O: Top 3 sours I've ever had. Give anything to trade for this beer.

BIG BIG thanks to beachrez for this.

pours a faint purple, almost rose colored. light red grape juice.

very tart, sour, puckering grape with ripe cheese. light oak.

light grape, starts off faint and grows. towards the finish it becomes very bright then blends with the dank dry oak. some light cheese and funk, but very sour and mouth puckering. a bit sweet tart like at times.

perfect carbonation IMO, dry oak finish that makes leaves your mouth just aching for water.

i detect a hint of isabelle but overall, very cantillon lamvinus like. very enjoyable!

Thanks for sharing Brian! Snifter.

A: Light apricot color with a fair amount of fine sediment fill my glass beneath a short lived white head.
S: Very fruity nose, golden fruits, stone fruits, vinous, slight vinegar and biting acid.
T: Clean acid, citrus, strong stone fruits are strong along with white wine and vinous grapes.
M: Very frothy carb that bubbles up in my mouth. Light body, acidic but relatively smooth mouthfeel.
O: A very solid sour, fruity, and easy to drink. A little chunky, but that’s ok. Careful, this one is definitely carbonated.

And the hits just keep coming! Thank you a million times over to Pete for busting out this gem at an impromtu tasting on 8/10.

a - poured a murky orange with a thin bubbly head that was gone quick but was easily rebuilt with a swirl of my glass.

s - pretty sour. some fruitiness. good tart and some green grape.

t - puckeringly sour. outrageous flavor combo of sour with fruity green grapes on the finish.

m - smooth but sour. a bit pucker worthy.

o - overall, what can i say? 007 shortly after 004 and DDG!!! this beer is insanely amazing, but not quite the 004.

Bottle shared at Eagle Rock during RBSG 2012. Pale hazy gold color with a wispy white head. Reminds me very much of Temptation, but with a more harsh sourness, perhaps more acetic. Lemony with lactic and citric notes, mild grape sweetness, crabapple. Modest funkiness.

Another bottle opened up at the DC Lost Abbey tasting. Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy ruby red color with a ring of off white head.

Smell: This beer smells very tart and funky with some fruity notes showing up in the background. Rather mild.

Taste: The flavor is much stronger than the smell was. Vinegar sourness with some funk. Grape flavor compliments the sour notes rather well. Not as fruity as the 005. The sour finish borderlines on harsh.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with light and foamy carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I liked the 005 better, but this was still a solid brew. If it was a bit less abrasive, it would be nicer.

This beer pours a hazy yellow/amber color with a light pinkish hue to it. Nice white head that diminishes quite quickly. Carbonation has held up nicely with this beer. Scent is immediately lactic aroma with some citrus and vinegar. Some nice red wine aromas with red grapes and some oak. Good amount of funk. Taste is amazing. This is my second Veritas…the first I had was 009. That beer is significantly different than this 007, but they each are amazing in their own way. Amazing grapefruit-orange/citrus tartness with some sour grape and raspberry flavors. It has characteristics of a much more red/pink colored wild ale…yet those same flavors flow through this blonde-pink ale. Mouthfeel is acidic and medium bodied. Perfectly carbonated IMO. Overall, I can’t compare to 009 considering it is a WAY different beer. This one was amazing though. Absolutely loved it!

Thank you to me for contributing this to the Lost Abbey tasting.

Pours a hazy golden/blond color with a thin white head. The aroma here is very subtle, it's nice - a great sour smell with some red wine grapes, but I wish there was more going on. Flavor is quite nice here, it's very sour with a little bit of red wine grape flavor, but the oak plays a prominent role as well. Generally it's a great blond sour, but there's not as much going on here as I had hoped. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with nice carbonation and a prickly sour feel. Overall, considering expectations vs. pay-off, this might be the most disappointing of the entire Lost Abbey tasting. It's a good sour, but this one didn't have any real standout characteristics here.
