Bottle shared by jtclockwork. Jan/Feb of 2011, I believe. Not quite clear shining ruby red color with a small off-white head. Funky aroma with a hint of cheese, sour, bourbon, and more. Big sour flavor with dark cherries, wood, more sour, bitter wood and bourbon, and general awesomeness. This stuff is amazing!

Another bottle shared by Tomme and crew. Poured into a tasting snifter.
Appearance: Pours a reddish amber color with just a ring of off white head.
Smell: Sweet and tart with some cherries and funk. I'm getting some brown sugar sweetness from the malt.
Taste: Brown sugar notes from the malt right off the bat. Tart fruit notes along with some funk. The cherries are nice with the sweet and sour flavors. The finish is sour and a little bitter.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with fluffy, tingly carbonation and a slick finish.
Overall: This is a complex beer. The tartness is rather smooth. I really enjoyed the malt sweetness combined with the sour flavors.

Thanks Johnfrompurdue. I figured I'd never see this one.
Pours somewhere between a ruby and light brown. Good head, good retention. Musty sour faded red wine grapes on the nose, slight oak. Taste shows soured old grapes, slight oak, little amount of sweetness and dryness balancing each other and neither really come through. Nicely carbonated and great on the palate.
I know this is supposed to have fallen off, but for not having it before it is a very well done AWA.

From 04/14/12 notes. Had this one at the DC Lambic & Sour Tasting as part of a full Veritas set, 001-010.
a - Pours a murky dark mahogany brown color with one inch of off white head and light carbonation evident. Looks just like Veritas 002.
s - Smells of sour cherries and dark fruits, light oak, alcohol, and roasted malts. Reminds me of Veritas 001 though not as strong or sour.
t - Tastes of sour cherries, tart dark fruits, bourbon, roasted malts, oak, alcohol. Taste is not as sour as the nose. Again, like a poor man's Veritas 001.
m - Medium body and light carbonation. Easy to drink beer, great mouthfeel.
o - Overall I thought this was a good beer, btu I preferred Veritas 001 to this quite a bit. Both had sour cherries and dark fruits to them, but this was just a bit weaker in the nose and taste. A good beer worth seeking out, but I'd rather have 001.

Shared at a ridiculous tasting last weekend. Consumed with all ten Veritas beers on April 14, 2012.
The beer is mahogany hued with a small off white head. The aroma offers wine, oak, tannins, fruit, acidity, cherries. Very tasty beer. The flavor is bold, yet smooth, while still achieving balance - impressive. Cherries come through in the flavor, though not nearly in the same manner as a kriek. Light in body and enjoyable to drink. Overall, this was quite tasty, though not on par with 004-006.

Appearance:
Very surprised to hear a generous pop from the bottle when we slid the cork out. On the pour this baby came out a deep brown rusty murky red color with a fair amount of haze. When I was done I was left with a thin half finger thick tan colored head that seemed prickly and disappeared quickly. Not much viscosity on the glass when I gave a swirl.
Smell:
Huge burst of cherry pie and tart acid like aromas that over take my snifter. Some lacto caramel like bread flavors are poking through. Lots of woody vanilla flavors on top of more vinegar sherry oxidized fruits.
Taste:
Wow, big hit of tartness and cherry flavors. I am not sure if this beer eventually morphed into Red Poppy or not but it really taste like cuvee de tomme and Red Poppy on steroids. Dark plums, funk, wood tannins and more over ripened cherries. with some oxidation due to age this is fantastic and really makes it a slow sipper and lets me enjoy the small nuances
Drinkability:
Glad this one was busted out on my birthday weekend. it was a real treat and was enjoyed with some great friends. A over the top sour ale that was and delicious. drinkability was pretty slow only becuase I wanted to savor the flavors. Really wish another one of these would cross my path.
