Visited for dinner when staying outside of Fennville. Tried to get a table at the Journeyman Cafe but when I called for a reservation they were booked from 6-9:30pm solid... it's a very popular place. Luckily, you can order off of the Journeyman menu from Rye as the two share a space. Rye has its own menu as well but we stuck to the Journeyman for food.
Atmosphere is pleasant, there were a bunch of yuppies and a family with three kids who were playing with little cars on the table but that was fine. Nice wood furniture.
They had two taps and 40ish craft bottles, including some gems, especially their large bottle selection featuring big brews from New Holland Brewing Co. On tap when I visited were New Holland Sundog and some Michigan brown ale. Service was fine.
I got a three course meal with an appetizer and two supplemental desserts... wow. Order off of the Journeyman menu. That is some amazing food. I had the three course meal for $26, "Fruits and Vegetables." It was the only vegetarian option and it was excellent. My wife said her farm chicken was good. For dessert, I tried the Pears Belle Helene, the Chevre Cheesecake, and the Herb Ice Cream Duo... they were all pretty good but it pretty much knocked me out for the night.
I am used to Chicago prices and the beer was reasonable, so I gave it $$$, but our bill was around $90 for two of us with a drink apiece. The pub menu is much cheaper, so don't let that stop you, but the Journeyman food is worth the money.
