22oz bomber bottled on Nov 28, 2011. Beer pours a dark brown, not black, with almost no head, though beer is properly opaque in the glass. Roasty malt aroma, and slightly sweet.

Initial flavor is smooth and very stout-like. Hints of coffee. Carbonation is not too sharp. The label suggests Australian style stouts. Uh, ok. Apparently they're sweeter? This actually seems exquisitely balanced to me.

Besides the coffee there's a bunch of really subtle secondary flavors that swirl around in my mouth: treacle, grain. But the beer finishes with zero aftertaste. Well done, Redhook.

Dark brown, big foamy brown head, and poor retention. Chocolate and herbal aroma. Chocolate sweetness and very subtle herbal and roasted notes. Full bodied and creamy feel.

There’s really not too much to this one. It’s a really easy drinking sweet stout and ultimately boring. There are some good flavors but they’re drowned out by the chocolate and overall sweetness. A hint of alcohol is also present though elusive.

Poured from a bomber into a mug

A Pours a dark black color with a thin off white head

S Lots of roast with a note I can't quite pin down.

T I don't know if it is something with this bottle but this tastes terrible. There is a very strong medicinal metallic note.

Overall this is just a terrible beer, and while redhook rarely puts out anything amazing, they usually don't put out anything absolutely terrible either so I hope that this is a bad bottle or something.

Picked up tonight at the Albertson's near my house... Poured into my small CC goblet... the brew is the expected black... Surprisingly little head, retention or lacing... just a black brew.

Light roastiness... light nose in general... I am getting something that I normally associate with brewers licorice, but I don't thing that is the case with this brew... not sure what is going on.

A bit of char and subtle roasted malt... maybe some pale malt sweetness... or oat? Again.. having a hard time with this one... All the flavors are mild and not really "stoutish"... more like a bigger porter with some extra cereal grains thrown into the mash.

Body is medium light with a good small bubble carbonation... almost a little creamy on the palate.

??? An okay brew with no open flaws, but it definitely never is going to wow anybody.. just okay... ??? not sure what else to say.

Body is a rich, coffee shade of brown, topped by a finger of creamy, khaki-colored head. Aroma is sweet malt, a touch of lactose, and some mild, fruity hops, but lacking almost completely in any evidence of roasted character. Palate is big on dark malt, with notes of coffee and lactose balanced by some fruity esters and a light hoppy bitterness underneath. A toasty note on the finish indicates that maybe there is some roasted malt in here  Body is hugely creamy, which is the nicest thing about this beer.
