Notes:
Czech out Redhook’s newest brew. Redhook Pilsner is crisp, golden lager that is modeled after those historic beers originally made in Plzeň, Czechoslovakia. Redhook Pilsner’s maltiness is offset by a medium dose of Saaz hops and finishes with a clean, bright, thirst-quenching quality. A great “session” lager for when you’ve got a long day ahead of drinking.

Poured from the bottle into a glass tankard
A- It has a hazy golden look with a short-lived head. No lacing can be seen.
S- Interesting. There are notable hints of honey, banana and melon aromas with a touch of Saaz hops. Smells sort of like a hefeweizen in lager form.
T- Not bad. Small bit of fruity sweetness similar to the aroma followed by some moderate hop bitterness. Not the best balanced beer though.
M- Moderate carbonation
O- This is worth a try. Makes a decent session beer.

Bottle aggressive pour into pint glass
A: straw clear clearly carbonated white head good retention no lacing
S: not much smells like a typical macro
T: slight watery clean fresh not hoppy at all malty ricey
M: thin like atypical macro
O: very decent highly drinkable good price. If I had to slum it here's where I draw the line. I love the style but I've gotten so used to drinking higher ABV IPAs so I tend to look at the style almost like a 3.2 beer.

Redhook has a Pilsner, who knew?
Bottled in New Hampshire on 11/19/12. 5.3 ABV. Label tagline reads: "May not look it, but has a dark side." Really? Hmm.
A -- Clear gold color with a very dense and firm white head that holds up well.
S -- Lightly malty, mild spicy and citrus hop character back, mild DMS.
T -- Fleeting citrus up front that blends into a bready malt character that fades into a spicy bitterness. Finish is bready malts and the aftertaste is spicy hops. There's a mild grainy backbone to this beer so common with American takes on European light lagers -- I'm sure due to N. American 2 row barley, or just a corner-cutting mash process.
M -- Mouthfeel is soft to crisp with a light-medium body.
O -- A pretty good take on the style. The spicy hops do a good job of hiding a grainy character that might be otherwise distracting. A nice summer drinker to have alongside Sierra Nevada Summerfest or Victory Pils.

Clear straw color, no life. Smell of grains, a little malt sweetness. Watery, undistinctive taste. Fizzy, slightly soapy aftertaste. Probably good with spicy food, that’s about the best thing I can say. Funny, though, I gave this a 4.0 a month or two ago. Either my palate is changing, or judging beer, like most subjective evaluations, depends heavily on mood, setting and circumstance.

Appearance- Hazy yellow with 1/2 finger of coarse nicotine stained head
Aroma- floral, banana, honey, melon, citrus
Taste- clove, light corn banana, shampoo. This drinks a bit like a lighter crisper heff IMO. Hops are resiny with a touch of citrus rind. Just a hint of skunk as it warms it gets more of a honey taste.
Mouthfeel- a little fizzy for my taste, but good for the style.
Overall- to me it taste like a lighter thinner heff. Sessionable perhaps not as filling. Another tasty lawn mower beer, but nothing new.

Beer is brilliant gold, but has a poor head, these are a lot of bubbles rising from the bottom.
Aroma is of malt, no hops detectable, clean, no asetyl, no sulphur.
Taste is clean, crisp, a little sweet in the finish. It tastes a little fruity as well.
Lightbody.
The beer is crisp and sessionable, however it is not a great pils. It lacks hops and is too fruity. I would maybe drink it as an easy session beer but it lacks depth and does not have much to explore.

A: A darker straw than most pilsners. minimal head and lacing.
S: Minimal smell, some grassy hops.
T: Taste brings more flavor than smell. Clean pilsner malts, sweet white bread. some spicy noble grassy hops. Crisp clean finish. Rather refreshing. Well executed pilsner.
M: big carbonation per style, medium body for style, quite quaffable. In summation a pilsner.
O: Pretty standard, within style, refreshing, clean crisp.

12oz bottle with no date, taken from the red hook sampler pack
look is a clear golden yellow-orange, with a small 3mm head. smell is all dusty grain and faraway skunky hops. taste is more sweet than the nose lets on, with none of te hops. sickly sweet buttered toast and plastic-y flat presence of hops. feel is slick and syrupy.
not a fan of this one, too sweet and with flat tasting hops. probably the least refreshing pilsner I've ever had.

All in all, Redhook's Pilsner isn't a terrible brew, but it wasn't all that outstanding either. Just sort of bland. The appearance was decent, a bright clean gold with a tiny white head that disappeared the moment it touches your lips. Minimal lacing on the sides of the glass as well. This is one of the few beers that didn't really smell like anything. Seriously, even the light lagers of the world have that distinct macrobrew scent to them, but this didn't have anything on the nose. The taste was kinda largely the same. Very slight bitterness from some hops and even a little bit of skunkiness, but nothing like a Corona or an actually skunked beer. The best thing about the beer was that it had a very crisp and clean mouthfeel that made this extremely easy to drink if you can get around the fact that it pretty much doesn't taste like anything. Not terrible, but my first 12 pack of Redhook may also be my last. Sorry guys, I just wanted more.

Finger of head with descent retention. Medium straw colored body.
A nice grain smell with a note of honey.
Taste has a little fresh fruit, light grain, and moderate bitterness. Not the best balance, but still good.
Crisp and clean texture. Moderate carbonation and a lighter body.
A solid pilsner.

Redhook Pilsner
Pours a perfectly clear bright gold with a soapy white head that laces the glass. Aroma of crisp, crackery bread and herbal pungent Saaz hops. In the taste, more bready notes and some hop bitterness. Finishes slightly bitter but mostly very clean and crisp. Light bodied feel with sharp carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty solid pilsner, nice and refreshing.

Bomber into standard pint.
A: perfectly clear straw color with a half inch of head that fell into a little cap with a pencil thin ring.
S: spicy noble hops and pale malt. Slightly sweet smelling. Hints of citrus.
T: a little floral, enticing herbal notes, a bit of malt to bring it all together. a crisp brew.
M: light and crisp with a bit of carbonation. not lying when they say it is refreshing.
O: not a bad brew. I am not a czech pilsner enthusiest but it is not bad based on my experience with the style.

Poured from 12oz bottle into pilsner glass.
Appearance: Bright, clear golden color with a substantial white head that hardly dissipates at all and doesn't really leave any lace when it does.
Smell: Sweet and bready pilsner maltiness alongside hints of lemon and flowers. Some grassiness and mild herbal aromas.
Taste: Begins with some citric sweetness and mild citrus peel bitterness, which rounds out to pale malt sweetness before finishing with a balanced herbal bitterness that has a slight spice to it.
Mouthfeel: Lighter body with lively carbonation and a crisp finish.
Overall: A good representation of its style and an easy-drinking beer. Worth a try.

Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a desent size head that lingers for guite a while. Carbonation is lighter then normal.
Aroma finds a good pils bouquet of bready malts and spicy hops.
Taste is quite good with a solid malt bill that has a clean taste and hops that have a spicy, grassy taste. Both linger into the aftertaste.
Feels thin and spicy on the palette with a slightly bitter and sharp finish.
Overall it's good and refreshing.

22 oz bottle dated May 2, 2012
A- classic Pilsener appearance, crystal clear golden straw color with a foamy bright white head with no retention.
S- a pleasing but faint combination of clean malt and some spicy hop notes.
T- like the nose, nothing here really stands out but but there is a well rounded malt and hop balance that gives an overall richness that is very appealing.
M- carbonation is spot on with medium body. For a subdued nose and flavor profile, this is not at all watery. Smooth and soft all the way through.
O- a great Pilsener for a warm summer day. Refreshing, slightly dry and very easy to quaff. I look forward to trying this on tap.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 9 oz glass. Pours a nice straw color with a white head, that dissipates quickly but leaves little lacing. Smells of light grain, not much else. Tastes of grain, but stronger than most pilseners. Goes down real smooth and finishes nicely for its light body. Overall, a good beer.

Having this one at my patio bar on a 80 plus degree June afternoon. Pours a clear golden with a nice white head. Good retention, and a nice lace. Aroma is grainy, with some floral notes.Body is a bit heavier than I like for this style, with a good amount of carbonation.Taste is of bread and butter up front, with a sweetness throughout. FINALLY! Craft-brewers (even big corporate ones...) are doing solid Pilseners. This compares well to Sam's Noble Pils (though SA's is dryer) but not quite as complex. That would make sense as Noble Pils is more of a German-style pilsener (though not super-crisp, Jever-style), whereas this is a solid Czech/Bohemian Pils.
Reminds me of Prague...really.
Nothing dramatic to write home about...but since when is beer really SUPPOSED to be that? Does Mom want to know beer? A beer to drink with friends...over hours of in-person conversation (no texting or cell phones allowed).
A lovely true Bohemian Pils, made right here in America!
Na zdraví !!!

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Color was basically pale and clear. Less than a finger of head. Very little lacing on the top and none on the sides as the beer went down.
Smelled bread, grass, grain hay and corn malts.
Tasted exactly like the smell and exactly what a pilsner would smell like. Got bread, hay and corn malts. Also some light sweet caramel.
Light body. Thin texture. Above average carbonation. Abrupt finish. Pretty refreshing.
Pretty much what I thought it was going to taste like. Not a bad pilsner overall though.

A - pure, clean, clear, golden yellow; quarter of an inch of thick, white, foamy head; good retention
S - grass, straw, noble hops, faint pine, faint herbal hops, a bit of grains
T - straw, bitter, grassy, a bit of lemon
M - crisp, smooth, a bit overcarbonated, light to medium bodied
This is a drinkable, smooth beer that has decent flavor. The over carbonation takes away from the flavor. Still though it'd be easy to knock back a few of these. If you want something lighter bodied, light on the wallet, and sessionable then this is a good option.

[Best served in a Pilsner glass]
The pour was a clear medium yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white frothy head that reduced to a thin film and medium collar creating some fair spotty lacing.
The aroma was pretty basic for the style with a straw malt, a grassy hop and a soapy yeast and had a mild note of caramel and a slight cardboard odor.
The taste was very lightly malty with a grainy feel and a touch of caramel at first and finished with a mild bitter hoppiness. The flavor lasted only a short while being mostly of a bitter stale taste.
Mouthfeel was light in body and had a mildly dry texture with a good lively carbonation.
Overall a light hoppy brew that would be just fine on a hot summer’s day after some yard work...
