Czech out Redhook’s newest brew. Redhook Pilsner is crisp, golden lager that is modeled after those historic beers originally made in Plzeň, Czechoslovakia. Redhook Pilsner’s maltiness is offset by a medium dose of Saaz hops and finishes with a clean, bright, thirst-quenching quality. A great “session” lager for when you’ve got a long day ahead of drinking.

Right around the time Red Hook took its big dive in quality was when they branched out beyond the esb and ipa. Here they went for something more bland, which doesn't make sense because that seems to be what happened with their flagships.
Anyways, this pours the most inoffensive color of golden and tons of clarity. 1/2" white head. Alright I gotta admit, it looks the part. Aroma was almost exclusively grain, but kinda missing the hop notes, Saaz or not, at best, it was minimally grassy with some hay notes.
Taste is largely inoffensive. There is a greater amount of malt to it than some of those mundane lagers. Goes back and forth between a mild sweetness and a light bitterness. It actually is a decent beer for what it is, but kind of gets flack because they seemed to dumb all their other beers into something similar to this.

It was ok. It wasn't my favorite. It was a great place to start.
