Notes:
Mudslinger is a Nut Brown Ale with a Medium body and a fresh aroma. Its malty flavor is layered with light chocolate, caramel, brown sugar and a hint of vanilla. Six barley malts and two hop varieties result in a surprisingly smooth, well balanced dark beer.

Pours a light brown color with a very small tan head that quickly disappears to a slight edging. Nothing very flashy.
Aroma is of lots of sweet, brown malts along with a slight bit of berries or plums that compliments the big dose of caramel malts.
Sipping reveals a rather sweet brown malt of caramel along with a bit of citrus fruit and maybe cherries? I could be wrong, but it's what I taste. No hop come through really at all.
A bit sweet and thick on the sip, but quickly balances out nicely. Alcohol is nicely hidden but it is there...trust me!
Easy to drink and a nice spring or even summer brew for those who like brews with a bit more body and taste than a typical light summer ale.

Glass: Karl Strauss pint glass
From: Del Mission Liquor in Hillcrest (San Diego), Calif.
Price: 2-for-$5
Purchased: April 25, 2013
Consumed: April 25, 2013
Misc.: N/A
Poured a mahogany brown color with two fingers of khaki tan head. Decent amount of sporadic and uneven layered lacing on the sides. Good retention all the way down.
Smelled roasted caramel notes first. Also nuts, toast, toffee and faint bitter chocolate notes. Had me wanting to come back for more.
Not as much flavor in the taste like the nose. Roasty caramel, toffee, chocolate milk and nuts with bitterness hanging on the tongue after.
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Slightly bitter, but still smooth finish.
This beer had its moments, but it was missing something. A bit more flavor I would have rated it higher than a 3.5 (which may have a bit generous).

Poured from a bottle into a Pint glass displayed a clear medium brown brew with a half finger head, the aroma picked up was roasted sweetness and a little malt background. Taste was simple with nothing stepping forward, roasted malts, sugar and a little hint of bitterness. Mouthfeel was medium and nice and overall this is a nice Brown Ale, I've had worse and I've had much better....was looking to try this for a while but it's not something I'd seek out but then again I wouldn't turn it down.

Big foam in the big gulp size duvel tulip. Sweet and grainy are the main flavors. Hints of chicory. Lots of caramel followed by some bark and twiggy tea. Scratchy hoppiness though not really very bitter at first. Somewhat tangy, but it's more of a club soda taste with the browned malt dominating. The spoiled fruit flavor of hops with a bitter aftertaste.
A slightly more aggressive Brown Ale than the usual suspects. That touch of burnt barley helps it stand out. There is something too sweet and fruity with that woodsy bitterness to be very drinkable. In the 22 oz bottle. From Del Mission Liquor on Washington near Hillcrest in San Diego, which has a suprisingly good and fresh supply of craft beers.
