22 oz bottle, 'bottled on' with the date clear across the label, kinda weird, Oct 8, 08, batch 08-0410.

Pour a surprisingly thin looking dark brown to black, a nice off white head that shrinks to a thin film, lots of lacing spiderwebbed across the glass. The aroma isn't all too assertive, some roasted malt, some coffee, its ok.

Taste is more aggressive. Some dark roasted malt and coffee, some cream, but it falls short of anything imperial or double in nature. The mouth is also a bit thin for the style, ok for a regular stout. So a case of purposeful mislabeling? As a coffee stout, as it should be called, its a pretty decent beer and plenty easy to drink. But its nothing to get very excited over.

2008 bottle into a tulip glass

A: pours a deep deep black with a finger of coffee mocha brown colored head that is very frothy and lingers just a little while before leaving a nice amount of lacing on the glass 4
S: very nice malts, pure mocha and coffee with just the slightest milk chocolate at the end 4
T: begins with a nice mocha taste which slides into chocolate notes, the end is where the money is made, it finnishes just slightly sweet and then, after a few seconds, an incredible coffee taste slides back in which is very nice and lingers on the palate for a long time. 4.
M: smooth, very gentle carbonation, creamy and just slightly thin 3.5
O: a nice drinking imperial stout, alcohol has leveled out with time and the coffee notes have really pushed forwards which really makes it alot better, quite happy I let this one get some legs on it 4

Bottle. Vintage bottle given for free at Beer Geek Christmas. Pours a dark brown/black color with a slight tan head that collars around the glass. Mocha chocolate in the nose with some minimal residual coffee notes. Surprised how much chocolate is in the nose. Medium mouthfeel. This reminds me surprisingly like a weaker version of ST Chocolate but with more bitter roast notes in the end. LIght chocolate notes upfront with a roast coffee finish that isn’t too overpowering. Overall, pretty decent.
