American Amber / Red Ale |  5.80% ABV

Availability: Year-round. bottle (209), on-tap (23), cask (1)

Notes:
Who needs precious metals, when you’ve got Copper?! This copper colored ale is a real crowd-pleaser. Copperhook strikes the perfect balance of smooth, rich, malty flavor you’d expect from a craft brew with a lighter body and hop profile that makes it a perfect “session” beer when you’ve got a long day ahead of knocking back a few with your buddies.

A: more of an orange/gold than an amber hue. dense white head with reasonable retention. nice lacing. mostly clear.

S: low earthy hop aromas. perhaps some fruitiness before a moderate caramel character. cherry or apple.

T:some light biscuit/toast. caramel is light as well. not a real assertive hop character, which is something i have grown to expect with american ambers. great soft oatmeal-like flavor in the finish.

M: pretty moderate carbonation on a light/medium body.

D: blame other breweries, cause i have a much heightened expectation for this style. this guy could use some serious hop additions/dry-hopping.

Palest amber with creamy parchment head that fades but rims and speckles.
Flinty grain, autumn leaf and faint orange peel and flower blossom nose.
Raspberry jam on granary toast up front with perfumed orange rind.
Apricot chutney ending and spicy woody linger.
Light, sticky, crisp.

Thin but clean and refreshing. Stubby bottle helps a vigorous pour that makes the head look good - no accident, I suspect. Hops are very EKG - if this were -1% ABV, it'd line up as a killer best bitter. As it is, too light in both body and color for the strength, though still very moreish.
