Notes:
Who needs precious metals, when you’ve got Copper?! This copper colored ale is a real crowd-pleaser. Copperhook strikes the perfect balance of smooth, rich, malty flavor you’d expect from a craft brew with a lighter body and hop profile that makes it a perfect “session” beer when you’ve got a long day ahead of knocking back a few with your buddies.

Palest amber with creamy parchment head that fades but rims and speckles.
Flinty grain, autumn leaf and faint orange peel and flower blossom nose.
Raspberry jam on granary toast up front with perfumed orange rind.
Apricot chutney ending and spicy woody linger.
Light, sticky, crisp.
Thin but clean and refreshing. Stubby bottle helps a vigorous pour that makes the head look good - no accident, I suspect. Hops are very EKG - if this were -1% ABV, it'd line up as a killer best bitter. As it is, too light in both body and color for the strength, though still very moreish.

A: Highly carbonated. No haze, totally clear. Light straw color, Not quite copper as the suggests it should be.
S: Smells mostly of bread yeast to me. Small notes of dried straw.
T: The carbonation adds a nice crispness right up front, masking much flavor. The carbonation fades to an odd dried grass flavor. It's slightly sweet and nutty on the finish. It has a yeast aftertaste at the end I'm not a big fan of.
M: I like the carbonation and the consistency. The aftertaste isn't great.
O: This beer is the kind of beer that someone would order if the bar doesn't have Budweiser and they wanted a cheap American brew. It's a fuller, better balanced version of a macrobrew but doesn't seem to have all the craftsmanship of the typical microbrew. I didn't like the bread yeast flavor and the sweetness tasted like a cheap logger. The nuttiness was a good attempt, but not quite enough.

Beer pours a pale orange color with a nice head after a very strong pour into the glass. The beer is brilliant.
The aroma is a mixture of hops, esters that are somewhat fruity, very reminiscent of bass, some bread, not much malt in the mix.
The beer starts off sweet with a balanced finish. Not much of anything going on flavor wise though.
Body and mouthfeel are medium-light.
Overall this beer is okay, nothing special. It has no flaws other than not being copper. It would be good for a session but not very interesting as a stand alone.

12oz bottle no date, from red hook sampler pack
look is a clear orange amber with a thin ring of film. smell is sweet malted grain. taste follows with a syurpy sweet malted grain, not unlike the taste of steel reserve.
not especially pleasant, even when compared with other ambers (not a fan). sickly sweet finish kills a crisp buttery start.

Poured into a Pint Glass
Appearance - Oranger/Ember Color with a slight haze. Soapy 2 finger head that takes a couple of minutes to disappear. Small amount of carbonation going on inside.
Smell - Yeasts, Barley, Malts and a Rusty/Metallic Scent (Hey it's the best way to describe it). I guess it's appropriate considering this beer is named after a metal which oxidizes after a certain period of time. I dunno about this...
Taste - Yeasts, Barley, Biscuits, Slight Floral Hops with a Marzen/Metallic aftertaste. Like the smell, the flavor seems appropriate considering the name but I'm not really digging it.
Mouthfeel - Moderate body and mild carbonation. It at least feels alright on the palate.
Overall - This could've been an alright and simple beer had it not been for the metallic/rust flavors, which made it taste like old pennies. As it is right now, I wouldn't recommend drinking this unless you like your mouth tasting like old rusty copper pennies

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams Boston Lager glass. Taken from a Redhook mixed twelve pack.
Appearance: Pours a translucent, bright copper color. Has a small, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing.
Smell: Some kind of basic caramel aromas here. Even that is pretty faint.
Taste: Only mildly hoppy up front. Finishes with a slight caramel sweetness backed by a significant grainy flavor.
Mouthfeel: Thin, watery, and almost flat.
Overall: Wow. This beer isn't good. I know Redhook isn't exactly known for outstanding beers but even by their standards, this isn't good. It tastes more like a poorly done amber lager than an amber ale.

A coppery amber color with a moderate size head and lightly carbonated,
The nose finds some light hops and a nutty malts.
Taste is malty with some caramel and hazelnuts. Hops have a slight floral flair.
Feels smooth but a bit watery too clean as in no aftertaste.
An okay beer nothing special.

Attractive light coppery amber color in the glass. The usual suds and plenty of prickly carbonation. An aroma of slightly roast malt and pecans. Light body but a mellow mouthfeel.
It does has a nice nutty flavor as it warms up. The warm malt certainly rules the taste. Caramel with a sprightly, sharp mouthfeel. This is the non-over-hopped style of Amber. Some slight hoppy flowery notes, and a very modest bitter aftertaste. Actually this is not bad for the category and a respectable light beer with a malty lip lock.
From the 12 oz bottle with the "bottled on" date of Jun 25 12.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a light amber with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of rich grain with a very dark roast. Tastes of dark roasted malt, but a little bland. Light/medium bodied beer has good carbonation and goes down real easy. Overall, an above average beer.

Poured from a 12 oz funky looking bottle into a duvel tulip. I've been on beer hiatus for a while so this won't be in depth.
A - A moderate pour yields a 2 finger brown head that sticks around for a quite a while. The bubbles seem to be just floating in this one which to me indicates a decent body. not much lacing
S - Average on the nose. I get the scent of grain and a light bit of caramel malt.
T - Similar to the nose. Nothing special but there is definitely a hop presence that was undetectable in the nose. The hops don't add much flavor but they give it a refreshing bitterness.
M - light to medium bodied. well carbonated.
O - A good drinkable copper/amber ale. Few faults but doesn't excel in anything either.

12oz : pint
Clear orange with a fizzy white head that dissipates quickly.
Pretty mild/basic in the nose and palate, bready malts, hint of toffee, faint hop bitterness.
Medium body, fizzy carbonation, crisp finish.
Really the basic, one dimensional flavors. Not unpleasant, but certainly unexciting and just a bit boring.

Poors a light amber with not much head and poor retention. medium roast caramel, fruity. Taste follows with medium caramel and fruit. Slightly thin with a non-distinct bitterness. Overall a uneventful beer, but not entirely bad. Seems to be bridging the gap between big brews and true craft beer.

Pours a slightly hazy apple juice color with a foamy tan head that fades to nothing. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, slight fruits, and some slight herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with a very mild bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer all around but easy enough to drink.

Into a pint glass:
A: copper colored body had a one finger white head that lasted for fifteen seconds. Minimal lacing was left. No carbonation was seen rising.
S: based around apples with some malts and a bit of caramel and nuts coming in slightly.
T: malts with a bit of caramel coming out. A weird metallic taste entered my mouth (unsure where that came from?).
M: medium, smooth, sessionable, carbonation is felt
O: decent for the style, but wasn't as good as I had hoped for.

12 oz bottle served in pint glass. Beer pours surprisingly pale blonde with a big white head. Aroma is lagery and hoppy.
This beer has a really pleasing malt backbone with a slightly thick / syrupy mouthfeel. Not unbalanced. Just really drinkable. A surprisingly successful brew from Redhook.

A - pale amber; fizzy, white, foamy, loose head; little retention
S - caramel, faint nutty quality, faintly fruity
T - caramel, ripe apples, bitter hop finish
M - a bit crisp, smooth, medium bodied
This is a rather disappointing beer. It's one dimensional and simplistic. It doesn't have many of the pronounced characteristics that make Ambers such a great style. It's drinkable, and it would be easy to put a few of these away, but this just isn't what I'm looking for in this style.

Besides mentioning that I dig the old-school look with the bottle and label, I have nothing else to say. On to the beer:
On the pour, I thought that the bottle was mislabled, as the beer pours out a golden straw color. In the glass, its color is darker, but not what I'd call copper. It's more of an orange tinted golden color. THe head on top forms small, and the lacing it gives is decent. Its nose show a decent maltiness, kind of doughy and bready, also a little husky. There's even a kiss of gum.
Copperhook takes on more of a marzen character than the stereotypical hoppy American red. Doughy, orange, some vague hop bitterness. The body is medium, with a gentle kiss of alcohol. Ho hum, says I.
Redhook dishes out a decent effort in Copperhook. It's nothing crazy, though that's not to say it won't put me in a good mood before bedtime.

Redhook Copperhook has a thick, cream-colored head and a clear, copper-colored appearance, with some streaming bubbles and not much lacing. There is a faint aroma, but one can pick up roastiness and some brown bread. Taste is similar with brown (Roman Meal) bread, syrup, pretty strong hop bitterness (across the sip), and some cloying alcohol sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium and more lager-like than of expected ale fluffiness. Redhook Copperhook finishes fairly wet and easy drinking. Overall, this is an interesting, somewhat odd, and mild beer. I think you should try it.

Appearance - Pours a clear, bright copper with a finger width head, quick dissipation, and the resulting lace is spotty.
Smell - Picking up the faintest of sweet caramel. A very trace amount. Outside that, almost nothing.
Taste - Light metallic flavor along with some faint caramel notes. Hops kick in to give a subtle bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Light and watery. Decent bite.
Overall - An average amber, to say the least. Weak in nearly every conceivable way. It's drinkable, and that's about all it has going in it's favor.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
Poured about a 1/2 inch head of creamy, frothy head. Fully diminishing.
Aromas of lager yeast, and spring seasonal flower.
Clear Honey-yellow amber in body appearance more than copper or metallic as advertised.
Tastes of honey, brown sugar, and sweetened butter leading into notes grainy malt and sharp dough with you could say a 'metallic-ly' cool and dry finish. Sessionably sweet without too much sharp carbonation.
Although a little higher in alcohol content (5.7-8 % abv) than your average sessionable beer, this an easy drinking brew. Not complex or overwhelming in an category, but I'd prefer something more tasty... Not a bad brew to end a night on though.

Reviewed from session notes.
Transparent copper color, receding white foam collar for a head, very little retention time or lacing. Smells and tastes of generic lightly toasted and caramel malts, has a small amount of metallic off-taste to the finish, which is otherwise crisp and clean but for that one flawed aspect. I did not detect any diacetyl in my bottle. Medium body, lighter levels of carbonation.
A rather standard amber.

Review adapted from notes taken 8/30/11
Appearance: Dull orange/burnt copper, small head, average lacing
Smell: Very mild - some caramel malts, some bread crust, a touch of toffee, not much else going on
Taste: Similarly simple - kind of tastes like crust on a white bread - a touch of syrupy, malt extract-like sweetness - some bitterness and herbal hops
Mouthfeel: Light, crisp, and refreshing, decent carbonation
Overall: Pretty boring, very average
I don't really have much negative to say about this beer, but I don't have much praise, either. It's a very minimalistic take on the American Amber/Red Ale style. This is lacking hops and a good malt profile.

Poured into a pint glass.
It's coppery and clear. There's a whitish head that leaves little and lots of visible carbonation.
It's got a caramelly flavor, there's also some roasted nuttiness.
It's got the same nutty flavor with a bit of toasted malts. There is a nice bittering hop bite.
Crisp but smooth mouthfeel. a little light on body.
A good beer for drinking, but not much for thinking about. I'd drink another but won't go out of my way to get one.

Pours out a red color, small head on it, 1/3" in depth. Aroma was pretty muted. Not much to speak of.
Taste, pretty bland, a little nutty. Not much in the way of hops, really just like an oxidized, more bland esb from redhook. Relatively light body, didn't really realize I was buying a red ale, it has that bland malt feel like most red ales have.
I think I've used the word bland a few times already, let's talk positives. There are no off flavors. There's maybe 30 ibu of bitterness, not much in discernable hopping, a mild consistency.
