3/6/12 update. Spent the afternoon checking out different stores out on the West Side of Baltimore County, which unfortunately just confirmed what I already knew. This is not a very good area for craft beer. That being said, the selection here was far and away a cut above every place else I went. This was the only place that had Firestone Walker beers (Union Jack and Double Jack), and the craft selection in general was pretty good here (estate wet hop sierra nevada in Baltimore County? Unbelievable!!!), and it appeared the owner had made a special effort to provide an interesting selection. If one hopes to find decent beer in West Baltimore Coutny, this is clearly the place to go.
9/25/08 Update. Have since corresponded with the owner, who is clearly very interested in improving the quality of his store, and people's perception of his store. Although limited by size, he is intent on expanding the current selection, and improving the quality of that selection. The store has only been open 5 months (I just learned), and I gather at this point is still something of a work in progress. So my current review of this store, I'm hoping, will merit an appreciable upgrade in the not too distant future. Only time will tell how that plays out, but at the very least I appreciate his dedication and passion in trying to make his store the very best he can. Also, last time I was in, the owner had reduced his beer prices across the board. They are now much more in-line with other better beer stores in Baltimore (the Ozzy is now selling for $9.99, and the Allagash Curieux was $17.99. On the other hand, as of 2/16/11, nugget nectar was $14.99. So some things here are still inexplicably high.). I have upgraded my service score accordingly. End of update.
This place is located just a couple of miles away from my townhouse, located in an "iffy" area of Pikesville that is seeing some increasing gentrification. I hope the proprietor is able to make a go of it, because IMO he/she has their work cut out for them.
This place is located right on the street, on a portion of Reistertown Road that has very limited parking (though there is more parking around the back). It's easy to miss Vineyard Elite, as it's a pretty small place, nestled in with quite a few other shops and stores. The set up of this small store is interesting. As you walk in off the street one immediately sees a wall of wine to the right, with a cold box for beer and other cold drinks on the left. The walkway to the back of the store is narrow, but opens up into a small sized room in the back. This is where the cash register is set up, along with what looks to be a back door to a parking lot. On the evening (around 6:00) I was there I had the store to myself, with a single employee working there. One gets the distinct impression that this place does not exactly do a thriving business in the evening, at least not during the week. This is understandable as most of the neighboring stores were in fact closed, and I was not sure VE was still open until I pulled the door open.
In terms of selection and quality, it's fine here, but is hardly anything special or out of the ordinairy. I saw some Clipper City and Stone products, as well as Achnor Steam and Allagash. Prices were on the high side I thought, with the anchor steam going for 11.99 a 6 pack and a .750 of Allagash Curieux going for $19.50. I can't really comment on the service, though the woman working here was friendly and polite. Ultimately, I ended up purchasing a bottle of pouilly fuisse and leaving, as there was nothing in the cold box (where all the beer is kept) that struck my fancy.
I'm glad to know VE is around, just in case I need to make some last minute beer purchase some weekend or afternoon. It's fine for what it is, but is certainly not worthy of making a special trip out to Pikesville.

my girlfriend stops in this place after work and is greeted by the friendly owner who tells her of new arrivals and the specials of the day. yes, this is a small place, but bringing home some laguinitas sucks ale and the new 21st amendment ale makes me think the small selection is carefully picked. the specials are marked down due to expiration dates.i've been to many beer stores and rarely is this the practice. i think this owner is making an effort to get quality beer in his shop as evidenced by using beer advocate ratings in his cold case. is this a destination beer store? no. right now, its a friendly local store thats bringing quality beer to those taking a chance and stopping in. we will definitely be back

Pretty good selection, both of six backs and bombers, but check the dates before you buy. Went there today to buy two singles, and they were both awful drainpours, a hefeweizen bottled 2.5 years ago, and an IPA with a best by date 6 months ago. Ruined my night. Had enjoyed this place when it was new, but don't think I'll be going back. Especially since a new place (Valley Village Wine & Spirits) opened up a couple miles up Reisterstown Road towards Owings Mills, which has almost as good of a selection and lower prices.
