Notes:
Van Horn is an English Bitter that is already flowing among our draft-only arsenal. Copper in color, oaty and nutty in the aroma, while balancing caramel, biscuit sweetness that softens out in the pleasant bitter finish.

Draft pint at Bad Apple.
Reddish brown color that glows light orange when held to the light. Thin layer of white foam that recedes after a couple sips, leaving behind some spotty lace in the glass.
Faintly toasty and grainy aroma, some light apple from the yeast as it warms up.
Similar flavors of mildly toasted grains and malted barley, smooth feel, with a light bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste. Crisp and dry, not sweet, very drinkable, a true session beer. Pretty simple and classic in structure and taste, very true to style.

Served in an imperial pint glass at the tap room.
Taking in the ambiance of a bear's head with my boy, Alex. This stuff pours a mostly clear sunrise amber topped by a finger of glowing cream foam. The nose comprises biscuit, mild grass, very light flowers, and a hint of toffee. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a bit of dried honey for the sake of it. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry-enough finish. Overall, a nice, enjoyable, sessionable little bitter. Good times.

Growler shared by Chris (spycow). Served in a Zwanze tulip.
A - White foam settles to a thick collar, wisps, and a few specks of lace. Hazed bronze body.
S - Nice biscuit, toasted malts, caramel, with a bit of herbal, earthy, tea-like English hopping, and some fruity ale yeast.
T - The taste is quite similar to the aroma, but with a bit less sweetness and a bit more in the way of earthy hops. Largely toasted malts, bread, and caramel, with mild bitterness in the finish.
M - Somewhat roasty and grainy texture. Medium-bodied with pleasant carbonation. No alcohol presence, and a slightly dry finish.
D - If you like malty English beers, you'll dig this. I was pleasantly surprised and got a few refills of this one. I'd order a glass of this if I saw it on-tap somewhere.

Poured from a 32oz howler into a pint glass.
A: Pours a clear, copper-y brown. A smallish white head formed on top before quickly melting down to a thin collar and skim. A healthy amount of lace was left behind.
S: Light aroma of gently earthy hops is followed quickly by carmel and toasty grain. Nice and uncluttered.
T: Exactly as described as above. Clean and true to style.
M: Light and slightly sweet with a gentle hop spiciness for balance.
O: Pretty enjoyabe. Their first foray into the style and while they don't break any new ground with it, they certainly don't burn any bridges either. Simple and refreshing.
