Notes:
The Daly Double, an India Pale Ale brewed in memoriam of a friend of Half Acre Beer Co. Terry Daly passed away suddenly after spending a lot of time at our brewery over the last few years. Terry was a fan of music, geometry, his two Huskies, Moon & Luna, and amply hopped craft beer. We’re pretty sure that Terry was the foremost consumer of Daisy Cutter Pale Ale.
People are the larger body that is the meat of our brewing company. Not the tanks or the beers, but the heart of what we do. The Daly Double is for Terry and all the other folks that give breweries life. To Terry, Huzzah!

Poured on tap at tap room 20 oz.
Poured a hazy, very dark orange to light brown with a small fingers worth of white head. Hop forward nose with orange teases as the citra hop shows it's lovely character. Palate follows the nose closely with a huge citra hop presence. Big tropical fruit hits mid sip. The finish is a great balance between malt and dry hop. Really nice medium mouth feel as it isn't quite as big as I have become accustomed to. Low carbonation makes this ale extremely drinkable really enjoying this. Overall, damn, I now know why Half Acre is so highly looked on with those that live in their distro area. Super friendly staff at the taproom bartender Adam is great. The tap room is cool concrete bar with a fake bear head. All in all I will be coming back here for growers once my bottle stoppers are in. Cheers.

Hazy golden orange with an inch of white head and sticky lacing. It has a nice contiuous effervescent stream of carbonation.
Smells of tropical fruit, peach, and pine. The malt is bready and brown sugar sweet It's very aromatic.
It has a pretty good balance of hop and malt, bitter and sweet. The pine is a bit more resinous than in the smell. Orange and peach. It has a sweet backing from the malt. The finish has a slight touch of dish soap and is very bitter.
Good carbonation, but the mouthfeel has an astringency that dries out my tongue. Medium body.
This is a re-review and I scored it out much higher than when I had it from the bottle. At least from my notes, the flavor and aroma were more pronouncedthis time around.

Appearance: Slight murky red-orange with one finger white head.
Aroma: Peach, apricot, grapefruit. Little mango and citrus. Little pine and floral. Light breadiness.
Taste: Peach, apricot, and grapefruit. Little citrus zest. Touch of pine, floral, and herbal. Lightly sweet bready malts.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light with amble carbonation. Nice hops bitterness. Touch dry as well.
Overall: A good IPA. This should be a year-round canned IPA.

Growler fill fresh from the brewery. Whenever this stuff is available I jump to grab a fill, as they no longer bottle it. $15 for a fill, not bad at all. Poured into a Bell's Tulip glass.
Appearance: A surprisingly dark and opaque reddish-orange with a 2 finger creamy white head, good retention and lacing.
Smell: Very nice aromas of mango, pineapple, kiwi, orange, and other tropical unripe fruits. Floral and pine tones take a backseat. May not be everyone's cup of tea but I really like it.
Taste: Follows along with the nose impressively, citrus and tropical notes with a floral piney finish. Bitterness is pleasing.
Mouthfeel: A little lacking, feels a tad thin and isn't as dry as I'd like it for as bitter as it is. Still good though.
Overall: One of my favorite IPAs ever. I feel really lucky to have access to this, living 10 miles away from the brewery. I fill this whenever it's available and enjoy it immensely. Very under-the-radar offering from Half Acre

Cloudy burnt orange. Beautiful, creamy long lasting cream colored head.
High hop presence reminiscent of candied orange/grapefruit, Light grass, light spearmint. subtle caramel sweetness. Aroma Balance is firmly tilted toward the hops
High smooth hop flavor, resin grapefruit/orange/ tropical fruits, light grass and spearmint. Bready malt background rounded with some caramel notes. Hop bitterness is moderately high, but incredibly smooth. Long dry finish composed of the aforementioned hop characteristics that last seemingly forever on the palate
Medium light body, medium carbonation. Smooth. Crisp.
Incredibly drinkable, it's so light and smooth but just packed with flavor. Really intense hop flavor throughout, but the bitterness is rounded and smooth, never harsh, and is well supported by a great softly sweet malt background. really a pleaser.

Growler poured into a FFF tulip
A - Deep, reddish brown with orange tint. Small layer of foam on the side.
S - Floral with sweet citrus, pineapple, light orange peel, and sweet strawberry. Very nice, complex and strong nose.
T - Slight pine bitterness with nice orange citrus in the middle. The strawberry comes in the middle to give it a nice sweetness. The floral and a slight bitterness that comes in the finish.
MF - Light body with light carbonation in it. Slight hop resin remains on the tongue in the finish.
O - Nice light hoppy beer with a lot of flavor. I like the strawberry and red fruits with the floral aspect. The strawberry fruit makes me wonder if they threw in Galaxy hops to get that flavor.

Enjoyed on tap at the Half Acre tap room. Served in a bulb tulip.
A: Pours a dark amber color with a tooth colored head forming on the pour. It recedes slowly to thin film that leaves stick sheets of lace down the glass.
S: Flower and full of citrus up front. As it warms some light caramel malts come out to play providing a nice background sweetness.
T: Little grapefruit bitterness with a light caramel malt body. The finish is fruity, citrusy and slightly sweet from the malts.
M: Medium to light bodied with a sticky sweet finish. Pretty juicy, but easily drinkable with a medium carbonation level.
O: I definitely enjoyed this beer. Nicely balanced and easily drinkable, what more could you ask for?

On tap at the Half Acre taproom grand opening, served in a pint glass.
Pour: Dark orange with a finger plus of off white sticky head. Pretty thick. Leaves heavy, thick lacing.
Smell: Pretty grassy hops, with some pine and citrus mixed in. Earthy malt profile is interesting.
Taste: Malt forward, big time. Very caramelly, with some pine to balance. Meh.
Mouthfeel: Too much malt makes for a cloying mouthfeel.
Overall: Too balanced of an IPA for my tastes. Fans of two hearted and ambers will find this beer enjoyable.

Space is the new name for Daly Double. Pours a dark caramel color with reddish highlights. Clear with an ivory head that coats the tulip with lacing. The presentation makes one want to guzzle this down.
Aroma explodes with citrus hop and sweet malt far in the background.
The flavor consists of juicy pineapple, grapefruit and orange backed by a strong, rich malty body that totally balances and compliments the hop profile. This juicy/bitter fruit flavor flows through the swallow from beginning to end. A bitter finish of perfect proportion that does not incinerate the taste buds.
The mouthfeel is perfect. Slightly oily with nice carbonation on the light side and moderate/full body.
Overall the top IPA on the planet. It takes the great hop profile of Daisy Cutter, amps it up then adds the bass section with the malt bomb nailing this down for a terrific session India Pale Ale. Each growler split with my bro went down in record time. Half Acre scores a Hat Trick with the aroma, hop taste and malt balance. Please keep this beer flowing from now on.

Great head and residual foam. Thick and sticky. Faintly hazey copper color with good bubbling.
Dry, earthy, musty yeast and bitter orangey, citric hop peel aromas. The smell is resiny, but bright and energizing.
Syrupy, sticky palate with lots of citric peel bitterness from start to finish. Toasted biscuit and cracker malts balance this hoppy beer, somewhat. Earthy, musty, and yeasty mouthfeel and flavor profile as well. This is an interesting DIPA. This is a great beer. To bad its just a one off.

Served in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.
I'd like to make it a true Daly Double, Half Acre... (Wow, that was pretty bad...sorry...) This stuff pours a clear sunrise amber-gold topped by a finger or so of white foam. The nose comprises mandarin oranges, light peach, light mango, very light pine, ruby red grapefruit zest, mild caramel, and a light touch of cilantro. The taste holds notes of ruby red grapefruit, caramel, light biscuit, cilantro, orange zest, light lemon zest, light pine sap, very light wintergreen, and a hint of passion fruit. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, a very nice IPA, one that maintains some semblance of balance despite the explosion of tropical fruity hops. Good times.

Thanks Dan! Bomber split with a friend. Burnt amber hue, medium clarity, good head and retention. Fruity and floral aroma, lush and juicy. Tastes good with peach and apricots but has its faults: an odd nuttiness and a watery finish spoil an otherwise flavorful and respectably bitter IPA. Apt body and carbonation... not bad but not great either.

poured from bomber into a pint glass. Pours a dark orange color with a good foamy head
Nice aromas of hops, navel oranges and some citrus tones. Not all that deep and doesn't jump as much as I expected
medium/full bodied with excellent flavors of navel oranges, citrus notes, some florals and hops. Good depth on the flavors, but there is no mid, but a nice finish
This was a bit disappointing. It just came more across as a run of the mill DIPA than a great one

A - Pours an amber orange color with a one fingered, THICK white frothy head that takes a long time to subside, mild carbonation.
S - Herbal and garlic nose, tobacco, earthy and a little vegetable-like.
T- Matches the nose, herbally, vegetable, mild garlic, and mild tobacco, and citrus. Taste is more mild than what the nose initially suggests.
M - Medium body and mellow on the tongue.
O - This is the first beer I've had where the nose and the aftertaste make this beer.

Received as an extra in a recently completed trade. Thanks! Poured in to a 22 oz. snifter.
Appearance: Pours a hazed amber, pretty deeply hued as a matter of fact, and opaque at the center even to direct light. A moderate pour yielded two fingers of airy, elevated off white head that - despite mediocre retention - sports absolutely stellar lacing in its wake. Massive, frothy formations cling like crystalline soap suds to the sides of the glass, looming over a persistent surface film.
Aroma: Resinous herbal and piney notes dominate a roasty and sweet nose, fat with hop oils and bitter acids. Leafy tobacco, pine sap and woody juniper sprigs, and grassy spice notes mingle over a low and heavy malt backbone, toasty and warming with a moderate amount of residual sugar.
Taste: A step down from the aroma, but only because it's slightly less dynamic and more one-dimensional. Bitter, dry, spicy hop notes dominate, offset less than in the nose by sweet overtones and herbal overtones, as well as a hint of grapefruit citrus that was less apparent in the nose, though the bracing pine notes are amplified by the dryer qualities of the backbone, suggesting a mineral huskiness.
Mouthfeel: Moderate to high on the carbonation front, with enough lift to augment the spicy and piney qualities of the flavor profile without being pushy or abrasive. Plenty of hop oil additions make for a bit of a slick mouth, but there's enough lift to prevent it from being slimy.
Drinkability: A solid if not outstanding IPA. Half Acre definitely knows hops - I've yet to have a substandard IPA from them - but this one is the least impressive of the batch, with enough here to qualify as enjoyable but not enough to have me seek it out again.

22oz brown bomber, no freshness date.
Its like getting slapped in the face with a bag of oranges while chewing on a marmalade sandwich. A big IPA that almost straddles the line between AIPA and DIPA. Seek a bottle out if you can.
LOOK: Orange amber, clear with a beautiful lacing
SMELL: Citric zest, mint, faint caramel, fresh pine sap, tobacco, pineapple skin
TASTE: Macerated whole oranges, very smooth, medium body, marmalade, bread crust, hop bitterness, warming alcohol, cashews, peppery, papaya

Poured from a bomber into a half-pint chalice.
A: Hazy, medium amber color with less than one finger of diminishing white foam head. Medium lacing remains on the glass.
S: Dark citrus and husky toasted grain make for a predictable yet honest smell. Some herbaceous qualities round out the otherwise clean qualities.
T: Begins off-dry, with strong green herbaceous hop aromatics, a bit briny, as well as attendant spiciness suggestive of significant yeast phenolics. Crystal malt is mild yet present, coming across as unmodified by the fermentation process. Acidity is also mild into the middlewhere flavors become more bready and less influenced by the hop flavors. The finish is predictable, with appropriate bitterness, surging pine, and a mineral edge.
M: Medium viscosity, resinous and slightly acidic on the palate, with moderate carbonation.
D/O: This beer struggles to generate much interest, despite its rather bold display of sensory qualities. Nothing seems particularly out of place--in fact the texture is appealing--but it stops well short of being inspirational.

Pours hazy bronze with a decent crisp white head.
Aroma is grainy pale and caramel malt and alcohol warmth. Intense, funky hops dominate.
Taste is rich english caramel malt. Fruity with a spicy phenolic quality. Woody and leathery. Finishes with pungent peppery hop and lingering alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel is viscous, medium-full.
Overall, a very enjoyable IPA. Plenty of english character, but with bold American hop bitterness. Unusual and interesting.

Poured a nice clean dark amber/copper with a lightly thick and sticky off white head.
The smell is very english, with what seems like touches of fuggles and goldings and a nice bready malt smell, some nice citrus tones come through as well.
The flavor is very bready and malty with a clean pine hoppyness running throughout. I'm loving the heavy english crystal in this along with what seems to be a nice even level of chinook hops making this clean and piney, and a nice medium bitterness.
The mouthfeel is clean and dry with a touch of resin.
Very nice, I like this a bunch. Different enough to stand out in the crowded IPA segment, yet still drinkable and good without resorting to anything gimmicky.

Pours an opaque brown/amber with an off-white head. Some lacing.
Strong aroma of lemon, citrus, pine, and bready malt. Really smacks you in the face.
Upfront taste of bitter citrus, lemon/lemon zest. Bready malt middle. Bitter finish of citrus and lemon. Light sweetness at times too. Lingering flavor of bready malts with a slight citrus bitterness.
Medium body with moderate carbonation. Creamy/foamy finish.
Nice citrusy aroma and flavor ... fairly lemony. Good bitterness. Not a fan of the foamy finish--makes the mouthfeel seem too heavy.

Dark rusty orange, with a slight haze to it. Compact layer of white sudsy foam that has a creamy meringue sheen to it's surface. Tendrils of lace stick to the walls of the glass.
Pungent hop aroma, catty and leafy green. Some earthy tropical papaya and light traces of herbal eucalyptus in the background. Less fruity than a growler sample a few weeks ago.
Soft pale malt breadiness, very similar to Daisy Cutter, with a bit more hop intensity: grassy, chive, papaya, overall a pretty interesting blend. Trace malt sweetness and lingering resinous bitterness that sticks with you for awhile. Medium bodied and very drinkable, though a bit similar to Half Acre's tried & true repertoire of IPA/APA's. Seems like a twist on Tasty Waves, or Daisy Cutter with amped up malt and hop bills.
This one is for Terry, rest in peace.

22oz bomber bottle, 7% ABV. Poured into a The Bruery snifter (RIP). No bottle date, but this was released in mid January if memory serves.
A: This pours a clloudy orange amber color. I got abourt one finger off white fluffy head. Some lacing sheets/bits. Good carbonation.
S: Tons of tropical fruits: grapefruit, mango, orange, citrus fruit. Hop bomb with very little malt on the nose.
T: Nice hop bitterness on the tip of the tongue. Delicious sweet fruity hops: grapefruit, mango are there. No booze at all. Mild malts to help balance mid mouth, but still all hops. Crisp close. Not overly dry.
M: Medium bodied. Good hop mouth coating.
O: I really enjoyed this one. Solid little beefed up version of the Daisy Cutter pale basically, or at least that is what it seemed.
