Trying a bottle of Tasty Waves Pale Ale from Half Acre and the beer is GOOD! The beer pours a hazy straw golden color with thin white head that is lacing nicely. The scent is tangerine/citrus with pine along with hop bitterness. The taste has more pine than citrus, but it is a good balance. the bitterness comes in at the end and makes the taste hang on the pallet. Themouthfeel is a light medium body with good carbonation. Overall this is a pretty dang good beer.

(Served in a tulip glass)

A- This beer pours a hazy bright deep orange body with a strong carbonation of off-white head that is a bit bubbly on top.

S- The full hop aroma comes through during the pour with a herbal hop pellet and musty green aroma followed by some citrus juicy perfume hop notes and a fresh pale malt flavor peaking through before the orange peel and pungent green hop qualities finish the sniff.

T- The nice pale malt with a touch of biscuit malt soon give way to the citrus hops and a nice full pungent green hop finish that has just a touch of bitterness to it.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a gentle fizz on the tongue that leads to a crisps finish that compliments the hop flavor.

O- This is a delicious full hops flavored beer with a nice big hop depth to it and good support by the malt flavors. Everything taste very fresh with just enough bitterness to compliment the hops yet not overpower them.

mcc1654 sent this in what I hope to be the second of many trades. I'm a sucker for Half Acre beers and am happy to try another of their offerings. Cheers and thanks, Mike!

Poured into a 3 floyds pint glass. This is a hazy light orange with gold highlights. Foam formation was decent - 1 to 2 fingers - and off white. Lacing clinging to the glass as this settles down.

Upfront citrus hops in the nose slanted towards lemon and grapefruit. Not picking up much in the malt or yeast ester department.

Snappy, supportive malt backbone provides foundation for firm bitterness and a solid amount of grapefruity, citrusy hops. Medium, dry finish leaves a lingering grapefruit juice reminder of the hop presence.

Moderate-low in body with a moderate level of carbonation. Smooth.

Overall another enjoyable release from the folks at Half Acre. Well-formed flavors, good balance, and a repeat sipper for me.

Thanks for the bottle, Richard.

Pours a slightly cloudy yellow color with a big, soapy white head. Plenty of citrus and floral hop notes with only a subtle bread/malt aroma. Pretty simple aroma, but quite nice. The flavor has lots of citrus flavor and a bit of floral character with a soft but sufficient bitterness. A light malt sweetness in the background. Light bodied with medium carbonation.

Cloudy orange color with minimal head despite a fairly aggressive pour.

Pronounced citrus aroma - orange, pineapple - smells great. Citrusy hops also dominate the flavor. It is hard to pick up any malt character - this is really a showcase for the fruity hop flavors.

Pleasant lingering bitterness and very dry. There must be some malt backbone to keep the bitterness feeling so balanced, but it is well disguised.

Good body with just the right carbonation to pick up the palate a little from the hop assault.

A tasty beer that is all about the hops.

Poured from a bottle into a goblet.

Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy light amber with some yellow. There is a finger of white head that fades to a ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell: Bitter citrus peel hops, some juicy pineapple and tangerine. Light and crisp malt is in there too, but the hops are the star.

Taste: Just like the smell thank goodness. A good amount of light malt balances out some really nice hop bitterness. This is definitely one I would have again. Bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: Really good beer. Reminds me a bit of the Daisy Cutter. Would definitely have more given the chance.

A: Very cloudy orange tinted yellow in color, though it does seem to clear a bit as it warms. Forms a decent sized off-white head. Decent retention and some light lacing.

S: Smells wonderful and inviting. Orange, mango, lemon and a bit of biscuit malt. Even just a hint of pine in the mix.

T: Unfortunately the taste isn't nearly as inviting. Starts off with an unripe dry lemon flavor then develops a rather astringent graininess before leaving a very dry, somewhat dirty, aftertaste in the mouth.

M: On the lighter side of medium in body with good carbonation. Very dry to the point of chalkiness. Astringent bitterness.

O: Very drinkable and with a great nose, but the flavor is way off for me and the bitterness is overdone with virtually no malt character to balance it out.
