Poured into a Town Hall brewery globe on 8/12/11.

Pours a clear golden hey color with a big fluffy white head that dissipates quickly to no lacing at all.

Smells is of bread malts and some citrus with a touch of pine.

Taste is much the same as the smell. Some lager bready yeast flavor with some citrus to balance.

Mouthfeel is very light in weight and it has a slight bitter bite and a little dryness to make you come back for more.

Overall this is a really nice summer beer. Low ABV, light mouthfeel and a crisp refreshing taste . Good beer.

16oz can poured into a tulip pint.

Appearance
Golden-yellow with 1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Slightly chill hazed with moderate carbonation.

Nose
Pineapple, papaya and caramel.

Taste
Pineapple, papaya, candied orange wedges and lemon. Caramel cover grains covers the grain bill. Finishes with pine, tangerine and orange zest.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, crisp and clean.

Overall
This is like a lighter version of Daisy Cutter. Good doses of tropical fruits. Easily one of the best American Blonde Ales that I've ever had.

Half Acre Gossamer Golden Ale
16 oz. can, no apparent freshness dating

Gossamer Golden Ale pours a slightly hazy deep golden body beneath a bright white head that holds fairly well and leaves some smears and splashes of lace about the glass.

The aroma expresses a basic golden malt base infused with lightly floral & grassy hops.

In the mouth it offers a light-medium body and median carbonation.

The flavor is fuller than the nose suggests, starting with a bit of golden malt that's bolstered by a touch of caramel, which is then immediately washed over by grassy, resinous, piney, and lightly citrusy hops. It's fairly bitter given the malt component that balances it, and in that sense I'd term it "solidly bitter" regardless of how many IBU's are actually there. It finishes dry at first, grassy and a bit raspy, and then softer with a lingering bitterness.

As you work through the pint and it warms, some variations occur. It's at first very piney with a citrus-rind edge, then grassy mid-way, and finally some bready malt emerges by the time it's lost its chill.

Overall, it really doesn't balance well. Just throwing hops at a beer does not make it interesting or complex, just hoppy. One trick pony.
