12oz bottle. I bought this one for that crazy looking ghost pirate on the label (or would that be a pirate ghost).

Poured a medium amber color with a small sized off white head. Tons of floaters. Aromas of yeast and spices (mainly pepper). Tastes of lighter spices and lightly fruity. Very light alcohol in the finish.

What an interesting beer. Maybe that is because the bottle I had was a bit older or maybe not. You can't tell from the outside of the bottle as it is painted red but there is nearly as much crud at the bottom of the bottle as there is beer in the bottle. Before I poured the beer I got a good aroma that reminded me of a gueze but based on it being a Belgian ale, I was a bit scared. When I poured into a Duvel tulip glass it was as if I was cleaing out an old pipe and bits of rust came rushing out. Although I have had alot of beers with stuff at the bottom or floating around inside, this was a first. I took a few sips to get a taste and was not overly impressed. After running the beer from the glass through a strainer, I gave up due to the high degree of sediment.

Holy scrod. This poured into my Lucifer with a maelstrom of floaties, scrod chunks and yeasty sea monkeys that the bottom of the glass was covered. Straw clear hues. This looks like someone sharpened a pencil and put the pieces into my glass.

Leafy earthy musty sents. Difficult to describe.

First Swigs: Hot, pilsner-esque with grassy dry hops. Red apple wedge fruit. Lingering dry aftertaste. Reminds me of De Koninck.

Well carbonated.

Last Swigs: Dry red apple sipper. Must’ve got a bum stored bottle with the insane pour. Cool red wax coated green bottle. Not too much to write home about. Essentially, this became a drain pour. Maybe this needs to be re-reviewed one day.

Beer is good. Happy beering.

33 cl bottle uniquely painted mauvy-red with gold foil around the crown. Chunky bronze-brown color with decent beige head, rather thin. Big yeasty smell, with some cocoa, dark candi sugar, and dark berry thrown in the aroma, too. A wisp of hops, but nothing major, especially for a craft Belgian. Wonderfully rich vanilla/chocolate taste, mixed with the subtle effervescence and fine fruity finish make this beer rather enjoyable. Rather nutty finish, especially for a Belgian. Balanced, but a bit on the sweet side. Excellent dessert-ish type beer. Try one.
