Christmas Eve 2012: sharing a few bottles at home with dad. This 500ml offering had a BBD of 1 Jun 2013.
Pale amber body with a white head that didn't excite.
Malts just about push the hops into second place throught the tasting: malty nose, malty flavours and a malty finish, all with a hop undertone that kept below the surface but stopped the beer becoming sweet or too malty.
A tad on the watery and thin side body wise, but an OK beer when you consider it has been brewed for a supermarket chain.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2013. Picked up a while back from my local Coop. The label mentions that it's a limited edition brew, although the reason for it is not stated. I'd say Royal Jubilee, but they did a different beer for that occasion.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A hazy sunset orange colour with medium carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of caramel malt with hints of fruity ale yeast, faint grass, earthiness and mild stewed leaves. Run of the mill.
Tastes of caramel malt with a dry finish. Notes of fruity ale yeast, grass/hay, earthiness, faint stewed leaves and a hint of wet cardboard. Very dry, with a restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with decent carbonation but a rather insubstantial body. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of cardboard and harsh stewed leaves.
Meh - a pretty dull ale. Looks quite nice, but the aroma/flavour are uninspired and the body could use work. The cardboard notes suggest that it's a tad old - oh well. Quite characterless and imminently forgettable. If you see it, give it a miss.

Deep copper coloured clear body and huge thick white head.
Galloping aromas of hops and brewing sugars.
Good decent best of british bitter flavours well rounded malts start the proceedings following by a little yeasty spike and warm citrus hops to finish it off.
A easy drinking broad side hitting text book bitter,
