330 ml bottle from the brewery

Pours hazy yellow with one finger dense white head, good retention, dense slowly downsliding lacing. Aroma is solid and typical Wit spices and citrus.

Taste is grapefruit, lemon and spice with rather significant presence of floral hops; all this fruitiness and hoppiness makes a dryish and bitter feel. Mouthfeel is light/medium with moderate carbonation.

Although this is not a very typical Wit due to elevated bitterness, I liked it. It was as refreshing as its name implies.

.33cl brown glass bottle with usual cap purchased in Hauptebahnhof, Zürich, Switzerland, and served into an An Brainblasta goblet in me companion's gaff in Belfort, France. Reviewed live.

A: Pours a one finger head, devoid of cream, thin, and of poor retention. Semitransparent lemon yellow colour with some floating yeast particles.

Sm: Lemony ester hop notes.

T: Lemon esters with a curtail of bad cream. Like really bad cream. Some badly placed orange flavour on the finish makes the beer both poorly built and wildly imbalanced. Schizophrenic and poorly designed.

Mf: Badly coarse and wet. Unrefreshing. Doesn't complement the flavours of the body at all.

Dr: Low ABV, poor quality due to imbalance, and average prices make this one to be avoided.

Purchased from Drinks of the World in Zürich at the recommendation of @headlessclown.

Pours rather hazed, but not particularly cloudy—a very very pale white-yellow colour, with a gauzy head of white bubbles. Lacing crystallises on the outside of the glass, staying rather persistently where it touches, but in a rather half-hearted manner. Not a bad look, but I'd like a bigger and more billowy head.

Nose is mild, but clean, with traditional Belgian witbier characters of spice and citrus. Where this falls down is with a touch too much acidity and a touch too much noticeable grain. It gives it almost a whiff of the pilsener to it, and it detracts from the smooth spice.

Ooh, and the palate very truly suffers from the excessive grain. Here, the pilsener character comes through, not only with a husky character, but also with a rather surprisingly robust hop character. To be honest, the hop character, while it doesn't fit in the style at all, mixes rather pleasantly with the citrus flavours to give a bite that is not unpleasant. It's an unusual choice, but it works. Still, a shame about that grain.

It's surprisingly tasty once you wrap your head around it. Call it a "bière blanche avec houblon", if you will, and drink it for what it is.

Second Trois Dames specimen of the night. This time their simpatic Witbier.

A: Pale beige to white cloudy color with a small head which dissipates quickly leaving few nice lacings around the glass
S: Quite neutral and soft to a Witbier. Bit of spicies and orange with some malt and yeasts in the very end
T: Citrus dominates. A bit more sour than a traditional Witbier. Wheat and malty end
M: Creamy body. Low to medium carbonation. Low ABV. Sour end
D: Average. Nice beer to a hot and sunny day with the Trois Dames quality

Pours with a pretty thin white head that dissipates very quickly; didn't leave any lacing to speak of; hazy bright, light yellow orange color. Not bad, but could have utilized a pretty head presence

Light citrus aromas; oranges and lemon zest; almost a little sour; lightly yeasty; some windex-like aromas that are my only real complaint

Definitely a case where the aroma really turns out to be there better part; orange juice; some sourness related to citrus flavors; some faint yeastiness; just OK but nothing really great going on here.

Light body that's a little chalky as well; tiny bubbly carbonation; just alright drinkability as it's really straightforward with the citrus fruits and IMO this overruns the palate just a bit too much. Unfortunately, not as refreshing as I would have liked, but not the worst example that I've ever had.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy yellow color ale with some white haze and a medium foamy head with OK retention and not much lacing. Aroma of medium wheat malt with some light spices. Taste is not the most spectacular with some notes of coriander and orange peel with medium wheat malt. Body is fuller then average with good carbonation. Not bad overall but nothing to write home about either.

Beer pours a cloudy straw, orange color with a 1/2 inch fluffy white head that runs away quickly, leaving a ring and island in the middle. Nose is floral, citrus and orange juice freshness. Taste is wheaty, fresh squeezed oj, grapefruit. Refreshing beer.
