Located in an industrial area in Tampa, this is a brewery that should be visited by any beer lover that comes to Florida.
I've been several times and am always pleasantly suprised to see at least 2 new beers they've made that I've never tried.
I love the fact that these guys really go for it when making a new batch. They have the perfect base beers (jai alai, maduro, zhukov) for treatments and they seem to nail them everytime.
They have a small but more than adequate tasting room and each bartender is extremely knowledgeable about not only the cigar city beers, but craft beers in general.
Kudos to Cigar City for helping put Florida on the craft beer map!!

Visited the tasting room on a quiet Sunday night on my way through town. Only a few people in the tasting room.
The bar is nothin special but serves it's purpose as a place to sit down and try what a brewery has to offer.
The selection was great. Cigar City is known for the many beers they make but few they bottle. This was a great opportunity to try some of the beers they don't bottle plus a couple pilot series batches (Only 10 gallons made)
Jason was the bartender and was great! More than happy to give samples and was very knowledgable.

I visted the tasting room on the Hunahpu's release day. So, obviously it was much more hectic than normal.
Seems like a really nice place, with a nice atmosphere and decor. A small, pretty laid back tasting room with a good selection of different beers. The staff was attentive and prompt, even on such a busy day. The beers were all very reasonably priced. If was local, I would definitely make this a regular stop. It would be great if they added a small food menu though.
I will certainly make sure and stop in again the next time that I'm in town.

Been here a few times now when I travel down to the Tampa area, and it's starting to be a must-stop when I am in town. Along with the usual year-round selection of beers CCB offers there are usually at least 2 more taps of stuff you can't find anywhere else. You can get a flight of any 4 beers for $6 and you can get as many flights as you want. Tasting room isn't the biggest but the servers do a good job of keeping everybody with a drink in hand. The brewery tour is fun and it's quite impressive to see how such a small place can crank out so many different beers and the volume at which they brew. Staff is very nice and easy to talk to so I would suggest picking their brains about future releases and upcoming beers when you are there. Will be fun to see how CCB grows in the future.

Spent many a day in Tampa, Largo, St Pete, back in the day when "good" brew was Sam Smiths or my buddy's home brew--waited weeks for each batch, which could be hit or miss, but thank goodness was at least different.
Remember this area of Tampa for the Mons or my favorite Browns Backers bars: Blue Parrot for adults and Green Parrot for the family.
But lo and behold, the owner of the fabulous Mons (Mr. Joey Redner, hisself) decides to diversify and open a brewery.
Was a bit skeptical at first, but the reviews were outrageous. And thanks to this fine site, I ventured forth.
Typical brewery set-up in a non-descript warehouse with limited parking. A bit different scene, with Spruce Street nestled amongst residential.
Walk into a small vertical area, with bar along left wall and few small tables on right. Straight back provides a couple of additional tables but not much else. Door to the immediate left enters one into the brewery proper and access to the rest rooms (kept in good order).
Bar keeps are no nonsense blokes who are there with a pour, not so much quick depending on their attention to cleaning the glassware. Beer knowledgeable about all things Cigar City is evident, with limited small talk. You will be bound to discover other beer aficionados and Beer Advocates, which will keep the conversation lively and informative.
The selection has been right on.
I have been there on 4-5 occasions and have not been disappointed. Variety of flavors, beer types and guest brews. Nice selection of Mikkellers collaboration (Either/Or), their own fantastic brews and sours. Always something new, different or unique to try, beside the tried and true IPAs (jai Alai)--in many different formulations--oak barreled, fruit mixed; brown ale (Maduro), etc (see the website).
I personally have tried 8-10 brews while there and have been surprised by the successful attempt to push the envelope, creating brews that I have not found anywhere else, introducing style varieties that have me longing to move back just for the beer. Exaggeration and hyperbole this is not.
No food, but you are able to bring in.
Prices are reasonable and growlers available. Funny thing, though, only 32oz (quart) and 128oz (gallon) glassware need apply. Standard (NEO) 64oz growlers are not filled--state law.
They also sell 750ml bottles of their brew. Check for availability. Depending on their supply, you can also procure different brews in bottles at Total Wine around the corner.
If you are in the vicinity a stop is warranted. Don't forget the cooler for the take away bottles or growler fills.

In Florida for the Hunaphu release, got to visit this place the day before and for the release. The brewery is located in a huge whare house on a slowish street, close to hotels for the release, about a half mile away from a strip mall area... The brewery itself, is much bigger than I imagined being a mostly local brewery. The bar area itself is a bit small, but intimate. There about 6 tables, or you can take a seat at the bar. A chalk board menu shows what drafts are on tap, 6-8 beers, then have a a couple guest taps. What's really cool is that you can buy bottles to go directly from them. They offer a 4 sample for a very reasonable price, you can choose any four beers that you want. I'd give the pub itself probably an A- due to size. However, the release itself was excellent. It was run exceedingly well. Wasn't too big, they had 5 different places to get beer so the lines never were too long. They had tons of special variants of their own beers and the guest taps were great. They had Three Floyds and Founders, which isn't much to a Chicago native, but since the later doesn't get distributed here quite a treat. The event was an A+, reminds me a slightly small more efficient Darkness Day.
I'd glad go back to CCB and Hunaphu release.

Man do I love Cigar City tasting room. The vibe is relaxed and comfortable and you always can find a friendly face to crank up a conversation with. The bartenders are friendly, responsive and knowledgable.
Always a great selection of the freshest beers, with the ever present Jai Alai, Jose Marti and Madura Brown augmented by newer brewings or variations on the standards like Cubano Expresso, White Oak Jai Alai etc. They also have guest taps dedicated to Florida breweries like St. Somewhere, Swamp Head and Fl. Brewing.

CCB is a great place to go if you want the freshest possible brew, potentially served by a bald, middle-aged man in a skirt.
Jai Alai at the brewery is insane. Humidor IPA is insane-r. The many variations of base beers that come and go keeps things interesting and lends a new element to every visit.
The service is decent. Everyone has a nice attitude, but none of them are professional bartenders by trade, so they are not on the level of service that you would find at a typical bar, restaurant or club. What they lack in speed and functionality, however, they make up for with knowledge and personality. Special shout out to Scott, Todd, and Jason as my favorite barkeeps.
As to the brew staff, they are some of the best people around. Wayne Wambles is the deal, straight up. Ditto for Doug and (Brewer) Tim, with Tim being one of the most solid dudes you will encounter, and Doug being both talented and personable. Ethan, Ben, Travis, the list goes on; these are good Guys. And last but not least, Joey, who will go down in history as the patron saint of Tampa Bay's beer scene. I am lucky to live by CCB.

This was the first place I went to when I left the Tampa airport on my way to Belleair Beach. My daughter, who lives in Tampa, said I needed to visit this place.
Nothing special from the outside. It has that industrial look to it. Nicely appointed on the inside, nothing too fancy. A bar and a few tables. It was pretty busy for 2:30 in the afternoon.
8 beers on tap, with 3 guest taps and several bottles. Over the course of my week in Florida, I sampled eight different beers from Cigar City, all of the highest quality. Mostly bottles, but also growlers of Jai Alai and Maduro (is it a law in Florida that you can only have 32oz or 128oz growlers?).
Any beer lover flying into Tampa needs to stop here. It's only like 5 minutes from the airport.

Been to Cigar City Brewing a few times and each trip has been awesome. Living in Orlando, I have made the hour and a half drive to Tampa a few times just to visit the brewery.
First off, their beer is incredible. I haven't had a beer that I haven't liked yet from the brewery. The year round beers are great, the seasonals all make you yearning them year round, and the special one-offs or limited releases are usually out of this world.
The tasting room is beautiful inside with a nice bar and tables are set up in the tasting room as well. The service has been outstanding everytime I have been as well. The bartenders are knowledgable about the product line and really seem to care about the beer they are serving. The brewery tour was great, it is awesome to see the expansion in progress everytime I visit.
Overall, this is a MUST VISIT beer destination for any beer lovers worldwide. You will not be disappointed.
