I love the Skatepark of Tampa (especially catching shows at Transitions Art Gallery), so I'm very excited about this beer. I'm a little cautious about the SPoT moat water - as long as there's no dead cat bits in here, I'll be alright. Like every one of Cigar City's stouts, this one pours pitch-black with a sizable mocha head. The aroma is fantastic, there's loads of sweet lactose and malts, a huge milk chocolate note, and some vanilla and lightly roasted coffee backing everything up. The taste honestly reminds me a bit of a sweetened version of FBS, with the lactose amping up the sweet notes from the chocolate and rounding off the coffee sharpness. The coffee winds up being the dominant note here - there's some serious caffeine action going on here. The mouthfeel is on the heavier side of medium bodied, and silky smooth. The drinkability is great - the sweetness can border on being too much, but it never quite made it there for me. A fantastic sweet stout.

Cigar City Moat Water
Poured from a 750ml bottle into my Duvel Tulip.
A: Dark Brown/ Black with a brown head. Nice lacing. Looks very attractive.
S: Coco, Vanilla and minor caramel notes. Like coco puffs in chocolate milk with Hershey’s syrup poured on top (ya a ton of coco).
T: Chocolate, Vanilla. Sweet, extremely sweet like Moo Hoo or Moloko.
M: Lots of coco in the mouth and nostrils.
O: Meh, its good but its too sweet. I wanna see what it ages into.

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at CCB tasting room. Poured into a snifter.
A: Very dark brown, opaque, with a one-finger medium brown head and minimal to no visible carbonation.
S: Coffee, milky, chocolate and cacao. Sweet impression overall on the nose.
T: Follows the nose, with chocolate/cacao coming more forward. Taste adds the maple wood (similar to the woody flavors in the Homefront) and some vanilla. Has a sticky sweet finish.
M: Nice rich mouthfeel, minimal alcohol presence, a low amount of carbonation sensation.
O: Tasty. Perhaps doesn't reach the flavor profile of some other CCB stouts, but still recommended.

On tap into a ccb snifter
A jet black, small very light tan head, fast dissipating, nice lacing, nice bubbly ring left over,
S coffee, malty, vanilla, maple, bitter chocolate
T sweet coffee beginning, dry and bitter chocolate middle and a dry and sweet vanilla and chocolate end. The after taste is long lasting coffee, malt, and sweet.chocolate.
M thick, creamy, soft and lightly carbonation. Great mouth feel.
O delicious, a great beer and another hit from ccb. Easy to drink, velvet soft, awesome. Get it if you can.
