Aged from late 2012. at 11% abv it should have done better. poured deep amber with thin off-white head that dissipates rapidly. on the nose its all caramel, honey-like sweetness, some toffee and unfortunately some oxidized staleness. taste is heavy malty sweetness, very boozy and significant bitterness. no trace of the curacao peel. beer is full bodied, oily textured, carbonation is medium to light, and there’s some definite astringency present. finish is long, all alcohol warmth. overall at this point its more barleywine-like and not an IIPA. a bit too strong for my liking.

From tasting notes. Appearance: Pours clear, clean straw color under a 1” off white finely bubbled persistent lacy fluffy foam cap. Smell: Orange peel, light malts, citric hops. Taste: Orange peel over light malts, light biscuit, with a citrus rind finish. Sweet and bitter in balance. Interesting interaction between added citrus, hop citrus and yeast driven fruit. Mouthfeel: medium full body and medium carbonation.
