Arrives deep brownish red. Small tan head, little retention. No lace and none expected.
Smell is tart, oak, malt and dark fruit. Decent balance.
Taste is oak, malt, dark fruit and wee hint of licorice. Good balance.
Full bodied, lightly effervescent. Fairly smooth. Cherry comes through in the aftertaste.

A - Poured with a small head of off white foam, low retention and little lace.
S - Sugary malt and phenolic yeast, lots of cherry.
T - sweet malt, caramel, and brown sugar up front. Some cherry and medicinal notes in the middle. With a strongly cough syrup like finish.
M - medium thick body, moderate carbonation, and a sweet finish.
D - really disappointing, the cherry cough syrup flavor is dominant. I can't come up with anything good to say about this beer and I'm shocked it came from a brewery that can make something as odd as a cucumber saison work. this is a rate occasion where cigar city has fallen flat on their face.

A: single finger head which rapidly dissipates on a murky muddy brown with a slight maroonish hue body. No lacing.
S: lots of dark fruit with mostly cherry and heavy on the raisin. Fig and candy sugar notes as well.
T: Spicy up front with herbal and light test presence. Candy sugar, molasses, raisin, fig and some red apple. Finish has a slight smokey note almost.
M: medium body and moderate carbonation. Dry finish with a very thick coating on the palate.
Overall: nicely complex and very flavorful. Nice Belgian character.

Had on-tap at Cigar City tasting room. Poured into a snifter.
A: This is a hazy, opaque, flat medium brown. One-finger tan head that fades fairly quickly.
S: Pilsner malt, dark spices, raisins, molasses, with some darker caramel malt.
T: Sweet, like caramel, with some Belgian funk and a little Belgian fruitiness, and some dark spices & dark fruit. The finish is sweet and caramel fruity.
M: Medium weight, with a good amount of carbonation & a sticky mouthfeel. Some alcohol burn, but fairly well-hidden given the ABV.
O: This is pretty good, a solid offering. My one complaint is that it's a pretty odd color - it really isn't much to look at. I've never had a Belgian Dark Strong from CCB before, but this attempt is tasty. Solid example of style.

I had this beer on tap at the brewery poured into a snifter glass.
A. Deep Amber Hue, Passes Mild Light, Off White Head Ring, Mild Lacing
S: Banana, Cherry, Sweet Bread, Mild Plum
T: Banana, Sweet Bread, Cherry, Currant, Mild Plum
M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Semi Sweet, Mildly Dry
Overall, a nice fruity belgian strong that masks the booziness very well.

A - Dark brown beer with a bit of a white head that faded to a tight ring.
S - Some nice banana and candied sugar. There is some good raisin and plum taste in here. Nicely malty, but the fruit manages to stick out.
T - This is a pretty nice tasting beer. There's a nice mixture of brown sugar and caramel malts, but the banana flavor lightens it up a bit and makes it drink easy and smooth. An appropriate amount of belgian yeast is also present.
M - Smooth beer, with carbonation that is soft and not distracting.
O - This was a nice surprise, easy to drink, and had some good taste. Would like to drink this one again.
