Notes:
This festive lager is our tribute to Duke Wilhelm IV's marriage hundreds of years ago, which inspired the production of the first Oktoberfest. Malty up front with notes of sweet toasted bread and a light floral bitterness. Balanced, traditional and incredibly drinkable.

Poured from tap into pint at tap42 in ft Lauderdale. Honey amber pour with no head. Smell is big malts and some light dried fruit....smell is exactly like magic hat #9.
Taste is super malty but some dried fruit and brown sugar notes....again very similar to the maltiness of #9. Its easy to drink, nice flavor and prob my last oktoberfest of the year...good not great.

One of the biggest maerzens I ever had. figures given the brewery. larger body and hop presence. Nohting over the top but a little bigger. puurs darker than avg, very dark brown and has heavy caramrl and a little citrus aromas. tastes are similar, lots of carmael flavors. at 5.5 its fairly sessionable but not as much a a traditional german. liked this but not my favorite CC beer. solid offering

700th BA Review.
I had this beer poured on tap at the brewery, poured into a pint glass.
A: Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, Mild Head Ring, No Lacing
S: Caramel, Mild Sweet Malts
T: Caramel, Sweet Malt, Mildly Earthy
M: Mediocre Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Sweet
Overall, poorly carbonated and semi weak, especially for cigar city...disappointed.

Growler purchased at the brewery and consumed on 3/13/12.
Pours a hazy dark amber color with a half finger white head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Minimal spots of lace left behind.
Earthy aroma with lots of soil and grassy hops balanced by sweet malt notes. Hints of caramel and toffee followed by bread and biscuit.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation but slightly watered down. Decent balance of earthy, grassy hops, straw, hay, bread and sweet malts. Hints of biscuit, caramel and toffee. Decent but a bit watered down and too earthy/soily tasting for my liking.

nice light orange amber with a good looking two inch plus head on the top. Amble carbonation was kept alive throughout which really gave it great retention and helped to keep the lively look of it going.
earthen malted grans. Lots of cereal and spice with almost what smelled like a touch of pumpkin. I dont know if it was really strong enough to be a major competitor in the overall scheme of things light and refreshing. Naturally the biggest player here would be roasted malts and yeast. Nice little floral taste in the finish, which was also quite dry, I have to say a lot drier then I thought it would be fore sure. A nice drinker that went really well with dinner.

was excited to find this on tap world of beer in port orange
A-cloudy orange with a nice foamy cream colored head. good lacing.
S-creamy grains and some faint honey. fresh smelling
T-comes in as smooth and creamy as a beer can get, with a faint taste of grains and honey which seem to slowly grow in strength and make up a great after-taste. the flavors are faint, but they have good quality.
M-smooth and creamy. medium carbonation with a creamy finish
O-a great oktoberfest. one of the most smooth beers i've ever had. its something i want a lot of, maybe the easiest drinking beer i've ever had. however it does lack flavor, even for the style.

Went down to my favorite Microbar and got a Dos Boot.
A- Poured out a nice dark amber, or a nice caramel color, Had a minor head of foam that slowly disappeared, and a mild amount of carbonation.
S- Right from the start had a nice hoppy sweet smell to it but right after the first smell had a good amount of a sweet malt that followed. Good hints of caramel as well.
T- Right out of the gate, had a really nice balance of hops and malts, the hops stood out a bit more than the malt, a really nice sweet caramel taste and a nice lingering hoppy finish.
M- Great drinkability, had 3 boots of this stuff, really smooth, extremely refreshing and a perfect balance of spices and malts to hops.
Overall- So far this is my favorite Oktoberfest beer. Did a fantastic job, will def pick up again if I find it or just get it again when back at the bar. Cheers

A: clear amber with gold hues, quarter finger head.
S: light caramel malt. Some spicey hop notes.
T: very tame taste. Caramel and toasted malt, mild earthy and hop notes.
M: light to medium body, moderate carbonation.
Overall: I love cigar city but there isn't anything special about this one. Not a bad oktoberfest but I think my expectations were higher.

Arrives a rich, honey color with a full 1" of creamy foam on top. Retention is great. A decent amount of lace left behind.
Smell is well balanced between malt and hop. A little overly sweet to the nose. Notes of citrus, simple syrup and a distinct candy fruit note.
Taste is malty and hoppy at the same time with a kind of green grape and citrus blend of fruit note in there. Sweetness is much subdued.
Medium plus body with a slightly under medium effervescence. Warming with a nice herbal aftertaste. Slightly dry finish. A good marzen brew.

On-tap at the source. First things first - the initial Cigar City foray into Lagerdom is fantastic. It pours a radiant amber-brass hue and is capped with a politely frothy white head; it looks good - nice and clean. The nose is slightly nutty, bready-doughy in a pretzel-like fashion, there is a hint of minerality, and it has a bit of spicy herbal hoppiness as well. The aroma is inviting, appropriate to style, and just tremendously successful. The flavor offers a sturdy, lightly toasty, and spicy-earthy profile, with specifics including cedar, coriander and celery from the hop contribution, semi-dry grainy notes, and a tinge of alcohol to round it out. The feel is just short of medium-bodied, and is quite refreshing. Overall, this is one of the best, if not the flat-out tops, of the style that I've had thus far. Homerun status here.

Growler purchased at Cigar City taproom on 9/10/11.
Poured from a growler into a chalice.
Appearance: Poured a hazy golden/orange caramel with a 1/2 finger off-white head. Nice lacing.
Smell: Sweet lager aroma with a touch of fruitiness and spices.
Taste: Grassy notes up front followed by sweet malt and a touch of fruit in the middle before a bitter hoppy finish. Nice bittersweet aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. You could knock back several of these without any trouble. Goes down very smooth.
Overall: Very good beer overall. Definitely worth a shot. CCB rarely disappoints.

Grabbed a growler of this the day after it went on tap at the brewery. Pours a nearly clear darkish amber with one finger of fine white foam that settles slowly to a thin ring; splotches of lace left on the glass. Smell: bready, toasted, and sweet, with toasted nuts and a little toffee. Floral hops. Taste: see "Smell". Layered malt attack with significant but not distracting floral and spicy hopping. Coming away with a bit of baking spices as well. If I could get this on tap locally for the next month or two, I would not buy another ofest this year.
