Thanks to cheesemoose for getting this for me in a trade.
Pours black with a rising head that looks like a brown sponge. Think and leggy in the glass, coats the side like a heavy coat of paint.
Smells a bit metallic, just hints of chocolate, deep and dark malts, but very little sweetness or spice. I expected a hit of sweetness from the raisins. Guess I should stop expecting stuff.
Taste is complex, and again, not at all what I expected. First sip is dark and musky, like bittersweet chocolate smells. Very little sweetness, I really don't notice raisins at all. There are some dark fruits but not enough to bounce out at you. The spice, whatever it is, lends a nice complexity. It brings out the other notes of the brew, mild coffee, chocolate, dates, just a hint of alcohol and some caramel.
Very thick and creamy and nice to sip on a cool evening, which is exactly what I did. Well constructed and complex and all in all, a good stout.

Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass.

Pours black as night with a finger of dark tan head. Head fades to a ring. Smell is sweet with smoke and roast. Some mild dark fruit as well. Taste isn't nearly as sweet as Dirac. Mild smoke with more sweet fruit than the smell. No real spice here. Thick body, but less than Dirac.

Served in a tulip. Figured the members of Plan 9 Burlesque would enjoy a beer named after Neils Bohr.

A - Dark mocha foam quickly settles to a thin collar, leaving a few stray wisps and no lacing - just a brownish film. Pitch black. Not quite as imposing as Zhukov's, but fairly similar.

S - Big molasses, raisin, dark fruits, milk chocolate, a touch of rum-evoking spices, and some burnt malt and tar in the periphery. Alcohol is well-hidden after roughly 18 months of cellaring.

T - The taste is quite similar, with hefty doses of molasses, raisins, baker's chocolate, light nutmeg and rum spices, a touch of char and smoke.

M - Big and viscous, with lower carbonation, and not much alcohol presence. Dry and smokey texture that seems to lack the stickiness that most Cigar City stouts have.

D - This was pretty enjoyable stuff. It's not mind-blowing, but it's well-made, fairly balanced, and hides its alcohol well. There's a bit of smoke and tar that's reminiscent of Mikkeller stouts, but it's dialed down by a factor of 10 here and works pretty well.

Pours a viscous, dark black color that's completely opaque with a one finger dark mocha head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Looks incredible!

Sweet, slightly spicy aroma with a balanced of roasted and sweet malt notes as well as some dark fruit and sweet booze. Subtle peppery zest followed by roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee bean, toast and oatmeal. There's also some lactic cream and lighter chocolate malt notes followed by vinous raisin, grape and fig.

Medium bodied with a prominent peppery spice presence up front that's countered by a complex malt bill, vinous fruit and boozy sweetness. Slightly viscous with pepper, ginger and and clove followed by roasted chocolate malt, tobacco, toffee and robust coffee bean. The roasted character is countered by sweeter malt notes, lactic cream and dark fruit notes. Hints of raisin, plum and fig give some needed sweetness toward the end of the palate which is followed by subtle boozy heat. Still, the high ABV is relatively well maxed, making this complex sipper easier to drink than expected.

Thanks, whartontallboy!

A thick, heavy, substantial body that's just about black as can be. The body of the beer appears somewhat oily and shiny, and doesn't leave much stick down the glass.

The aroma of this beer was it's best aspect. It was rich with bittersweet notes of chocolate, dark fruits, roast, and coffee. While all these aromas sound simply typical of the style, the chocolate aroma in particular was bold, authentic, and very expressive.

The flavor, while still certainly better than average, was disappointing after such an incredible aroma. The chocolate, roast, and dark fruit flavors were still there, but seemed just a touch muddled together.

Thick bodied with low carbonation. Very nice.

A fine imperial stout, but not one of Cigar City's finest.

750ml bottle poured into my cigar city snifter. Thanks to Shane (injuredreserved) for the chance to try this.

A: This beer pours a thick tar black with a nice one inch coco head that dissipated quickly leaving a sticky lacing throughout the session.

S: Big chocolate malt front mingle with a big dark fruit note. Big heavy sweet raisin nose masks the alcohol. A touch of tartness.

T: Taste follows the nose with a big roasted malt layer of chocolate combined with a big fig raisin flavor. Complex but very interesting.

M: The carbonation is perfect and the overall mouthfeel is thick and full. Great texture left coating the tongue. It lingers. Nice.

O: Overall this was an interesting and unique Imperial Stout that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would certainly drink this one again.

Thanks to ehammond1 for sharing this one during our post Churchill's tasting!

Pours a thick opaque black with no head whatsoever. No lacing on this one. However, there is a thin sticky film that clings to the glass if you swirl the beer around. Smell is of dark roasted malt, dark fruits (especially raisins), and some spice aromas. Taste is of dark roasted malt, dark fruit, and the spices. There is a mild roasty bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a thick and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good stout but it smells better than it tastes in my opinion.
