poured a very nice and hazy light brown with a large two inch plus head of foamy tan on top that only gradually decided to fade and nestled down into a layer of lace covering the top and the sides of the glass. The aroma was very interesting, it had a definite wine like character and the wood smell was defiantly a presence. Had a bit of a spiced note to it as well and also a bit of alcohol. The taste was very strong, with a lot of alcohol present in it. There was a very big presence of spice and oak barrel taste to it as well. A dry hop like finish tried to make itself known at the end, but never really got that far past the strong notes from the other flavors. Very nice medium to full body gave it a very sipper like quality. Overall this was pretty good,

Catching up on neglected stack of review notes. Got this "grenade" bomber from bobby8405 back in March 2010. Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bright hazy orange body with a 2 finger frothy cream head. Lacing doesn't match up to the impressive retention.
Smells pretty wild, full of pungent cedar and white pepper, with light floral and citrusy notes in the background. This arrangement seems to work better in the nose than the palate. Plenty of complex sweet flavors as it warms up, but the cedar dominates and the flavors just never seem to gel. Medium-thick creamy body, with a bite of citrus at the swallow. STRONG cedar flavors linger and linger. Ended up dumping the last half a glass.
Overall impression: Strange beer. It smelled great, but I couldn't get into the flavors.

I found this review languishing amongst old notes...
A - It is a good looking brew; somewhere between a clear gold and an orange brassiness; some head, but it doesnt stick around.
S - The smell is of cedar, obviously, and a bit of alcohol is present, too. Not so much black peppercorn like is found in many of the humidor series. The base beer smells of cedar too, and this is not much more cedar-cigar-pungent than that of the base.
T - It tastes nice, but the treatment is perhaps too unintrusive and subtle. The base has more malt and hop dynamics, as well as a discernible alcohol punch, all of which are toned down in thsi version. But overall the base beer is not too different, so I guess I am underwhelmed. Still, a nice change of pace.
M - Refreshing until the finish, which is dry and cedary.
D - I am always down to sample a humidor series. That said, this is not CCB's best offering.

I managed to find this on tap at the Brass Tap.
Pours a nice orange color with a nice head and excellent lacing that lasted much longer than the beer.
This beer smells mostly of cedar with a little sweetness to round things out.
The taste is mostly cedar with a bit of cream in the finish to smooth things out. Nicely balanced with the cedar and cream working together.
Nice, pleasant creaminess while not being too thick.
I would have to say this is my second favorite in the humodor series, right behind the Zhukov. Although this is a spectacular beer and Ihope to have it again soon, one per night is enough.

On draft at Cigar City.
A: Pours a nice vibrant orange hue. Tall creamy head, excellent retention and some nice lace.
S: Lightly bready, tropical fruits, hints of lemon.... loads of cedar.
T: Mostly cedar to be honest. Peppery, woody goodness in a glass. Hints of base beer remain beneath. Light citrus, candy sweetness, light grassy hops.
M: Medium in body, good carbonation. If you like lots of cedar in your beer this one is for you.
D: Good not great.
