Pours black with a small light brown creamy head. Nose is oaky, malty and sharp.
Taste is awesome! Very mellow, oaky and sweet. Very easy to drink, super smooth and not boozy at all. One of the best stouts I've had in a long time, you'd have no idea this was 10%.

Bottle was purchased 2 years ago, not sure when it was actually bottled.
When I opened the bottle it immediately smelled iffy. Tart, actually. Wondered if the bottle had turned. But as I drink it, I don't think it has completely turned just yet...but changed? Probably. Hard to tell as I didn't have one fresh. Ddn't intend to age this, it was only by accident.
Smells a little tart. Oak is noticeable. Cinnomon spice, and a little mocha. Doesn't have much chocolcate character at all on the nose. Heat is noticeable.
Flavor is a little tart up front, cinnamon again, a touch of maple, and just a hint of bakers chocolate on the finish. Tastes a bit hot suprisingly.
Mouthfeel is thinner than I'd like. Hint of vinegar-like sensation on the tongue. Carbonation is a bit sharper than I'd like.
Although I think something happened to this beer, I still enjoyed it enough to drink it. However, it wasn't quite what I expected, and frankly not worth the 25$ price tag. Oh well. To try it once is fine.

Waxed and capped 750ml bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Pours a frothy, thick 3.5 finger mocha colored head with good retention. Beer is thick and pitch black. Lacing is thick and layered with good cling. Thin legs though. Pretty sweet!
Nose is soft chocolate, fudge, and cocoa powder. Really pretty minimal. No barrel characteristics at all here.
Opens slightly tart roasted malt, chocolate, molasses and espresso. Fudge smooths out the middle with more molasses and some dark fruit at the end. Finishes slightly tart but its clear this isn't from possible infection. Aftertaste of dark fruit, wood, and dark chocolate. Really good.
Medium bodied with low carbonation. Rich and robust in the mouth and goes down silky smooth. I can't believe this is the ABV it is! Clean finish with a slightly lingering, sticky aftertaste. So drinkable!
This beer is all about the mouthfeel for me. 10.10% but this drinks like it could be 7-8%. Complexity is nice but the barrel is pretty faded at this point. I should've drank this sooner. Though it is still a pretty solid beer.

Borry and I decided pre-draft festivities needed a bit of pep. Red waxed bomber into snifters goes a little something like this...
Loads of brown fluff atop a sturdy, if a bit lighter than expected, base. More lace than your typical sexy time parlor.
Smells nice: sweet roast, toffee, melted chocolate. There's a warm gooey character that's difficult to explain but appeases me sniffer....almost like a barrel kissed melted sundae.
Dark fruits, touch of green apple tartness, brown sugar, and some oak and berries on the finish.
Lighter bodied, supple carbonation, and creamy.
Overall, it smells better than it tastes but I'm pleased to have tried this. Thankfully, earlier reviews of an oak bomb are not indicative of current results.
